Acting/Cast: Both leads are relatively new on the scene (in terms of experience, skill, popularity), but they both did pretty well. There were some parts by Gouriki (actress) that I found to be poor, but overall it was okay. Kiriyama (actor) is clearly the stronger actor between the two.
Music: I don't recall there being any[thing noteworthy].
Rewatch Value: I've mentioned in my other reviews that I very rarely rewatch, so I give everything a 5 unless I really do want to watch it again.
Overall: I'm not ecstatic about it, but I don't feel like I wasted an hour either. It was interesting, enjoyable, and it was cute. The acting wasn't amazing, necessarily, but I didn't expect it to be considering the original time slot and channel on which it aired. It was cute and average.

The story was odd, but kind of realistic, and, surprisingly, the pace was spot on. But the ending was open, though, it is kind of expected from a TV special. The performances were great as well from both leads and they did have a nice chemistry and interesting dynamics. The moral of the story was good as well, as the story didn't focus on the romance, but, rather, to the growth of the characters and them overcoming their problems and fears.
So, overall, seven out of ten.

deserved a series and not a special
It was a useless way to spend 45 minutes when I could have watched an episode of an actual series instead. That's what I thought when I finished and a few days later, it's what I still think. I have no genuine fault with the actors or with the story. I just hate that it's 45 minutes long only so everything felt rushed. I would have liked to see a relationship develop slowly over the length of a series. It did introduce me to Kiriyama Renn, though, so I guess that's something. The only reason I didn't hate him in "Back Hug" is because I stopped watching "Love is Phantom" after only 5 minutes, not long enough to work up to a good hate that I could feel developing pretty quickly. He's lucky I decided to try him in anything else. I guess what I'm saying is that "Back Hug" was average, but might have been something better if it had been a full-length drama. And I liked the actors, as much as I was allowed to in 45 minutes. Was this review helpful to you?
Back Hug (2014) Spin-off L-DK 2014 ?
This drama should be heading for its Spin Off from L-DK 2014 which happened to Renn Kiriyama and Ayame Gouriki, here Renn (Takuma) has gotten a chance by Ayame (Sakura). It's different from the 2014 L-DK film where Ayame (Sakura) is already dating Kento (Shuusei), to be honest, this Dorama Special is really good in terms of storyline, comedy to humor, they both are also suitable and romantic and the drama is really very good. . For those who like the drama special, please watch this, it can be added to my favorite list because the story is so good and there is no hanging. Was this review helpful to you?
