Having lost his parents at a young age, Min Woo takes care of his younger brother Jin Woo much like a father would. He harbours a secret crush on Shin Ae, a nurse he meets at a church gathering, and persuades her to go on a date with him to the movies. But not long after the film begins, they hear the sound of sirens and are rushed out of the theater. Outside, they find chaos in the streets, tear gas dances wildly and soldiers mobilized for crowd control have taken to violent beatings. Bewildered and enraged, the citizens form a militia, determined to protect the ones they love - and Min Woo finds himself in the middle of it all. ~~ Inspired by the 1980 Gwangju uprising. Reviews
The acting is superb. I believed everyone, and how they reacted to the situations where so real. Sometimes in movie you'll think 'Hell no, nobody would respond like that'. Well in this movie they will show you how you really would respond in such situation.
You are going to feel with the characters. You will sometimes smile (tiny funny parts in the movie, but they are really acceptable) and in others you will hold in your breath.
The story is sad, really, really sad because this is a movie based on a real event. And when you didn't know about this (me from the EU) you'll get interested in the movie and will do some investigations, at least I did.
But in the movie, I'd loved some more background information, maybe that would have made the movie better.
Anyway this is a really good movie, you won't regret watching this!

As you can see, this is a movie about the Gwangju massacre that took place between May 15-27, 1980. The reason behind the killings is senseless to me! I'm still trying to wrap my mind around the fact that someone in the military gave the order and I hope they enjoy their stay in HELL!!!
Excellent movie for those interested in historical events! Not for kids! And I don't think you will want to see this again.
