This movie amazed me, the trailer looked good and the movie delivered it! The story isn't unique but they worked it out greatly. It kept my attention from start untill finish and I was blown away. Every minute in this movie will make your heart sink deeper.
The acting was amazing, the mother (kim hye soo) delivered it and acted top notch! She convinced me and did a splendid job. Also the rest of the cast were brilliant.
The music was perfect and fitted every scene.
I would rewatch this movie with friends, I really enjoyed it
Watch this if you like action, a good storyline and great acting.
Skip this if you want romance and don't like blood.

With this movie you won't waste your time it lets you with a weird mood, maybe you're confused, sad and overall a bittersweet ending, nothing is perfect just life as life it is.
If you're expecting romance or a comedy you're in the wrong place so go and search other, this isn't a light movie it's kind of heavy in some aspects but I don't regret watching it, very good movie.
The acting of the movie is perfect I mean everyone was so good and I wanted to watch this for Park Bo Gum but when I saw Kim Hye Soo I was blown away she has been always one of the best korean actress in her range but wow just wow for me this was almost her best role, Kim Go Eun keeps being the actress which I keep looking for. The rest was great as usual but the funny part is that I think someone watched Park Bo Gum and Go Gyeon Pyo and thought, omg let's put them in reply 1988.
The music well it fits the movie nothing outstanding.
Rewatch value it's a movie you can rewatch and I will with my dad when someone subs this to spanish or I'll do it myself, well this isn't the kind of movie to watch if you're bored.
If you liked Hwayi you will love this movie, kind of similar just that this movie is with female leads and hwayi is more about a boy.

From the beginning, we enter a dark and disturbing atmosphere of the life of a girl imprisoned in a violent world that does not hesitate to exploit her. This almost gloomy side of the film is very well transcribed in the decor, with its lot of dark alleys and a voluntary of aesthetics in some places, but also thanks to the characters.
Each secondary character of the film is clearly traumatized by this world, their personalities, their actions, everything in their lives is bad and the actors perfectly managed how to play with their faults. Nevertheless, it is difficult not to get attached to some of them because they appear almost innocent in a world so dark. Each character has its place in this film and the actors succeeded in adapting their acting to the intentions of the film.
However, after all these qualities, there are still, in my opinion, some flaws. For starters, the scenario is not very original. A protagonist, locked in a world of violence ties after an event to escape... It has been done plenty of times. In itself, it does not bother me if everything is very well done, the originality of a movie can always be in the details. Then the biggest problem I have with this movie is the lack of time invested in the characters.
As I said before, each character is well made and endearing to a certain extent. Unfortunately, we do not really dwell on their problems, their thoughts or even the relationships between them. We are given facts but no evolutions. This is the case with the relationship between Il Yeong (Kim GoEun) and the Park SeokHyun (Park BoGum), they become friends, something happens between them, but as spectators we did not really see a linear change in the evolution of their relationship. This is also the case with the secondary characters that we appreciate but not to the point of really getting attached to them emotionally, //spoiler// which makes the scene of their death less touching //spoiler//.
Finally, Coin Locker Girl is a good movie, entertaining, sad and can make us reflect on our choices and our obligations in difficult situations, but its few defects limits its ability to really stand out.

Crimes talks are chilling
Watched this drama in 2022, after finishing Little women cause I am slump for Kim Go Eun and Wi ha Joon. But unfortunately, they didn’t have any scenes together. WHJ's debut movie but he has just 5 minutes of screen presence (playing Woo Gon younger ) in the beginning and he meets Il Yeong as a little girl and KGE portrays the adult version of Il Yeong.
Nevertheless, both the characters Il Yeong and Woo Gon share a deep bond as staying as a family for a long time and help each other in saving lives.
Park Bo-gum also appears as a kind-hearted young chef, his face drops volumes of charms. He shows kindness to IL Yeong without any expectation in return.
Kim Hye Soo playing heartless Woo Hee is like a walking dead who can kill anyone anytime and has no remorse. people tend to become harsh due t circumstances but we never knew what happened to her in the past can only assume Woo Hee's past might be similar to Il Yeong
This movie shows the epitome of acting by Kim Go E+un and she does that flawlessly. As an abandoned child she learns her way to survive but her humanity is still there. She believes to return the world with what they give you. If they treat you like shit, you punch them in the face, if they treat you with goodness, help them.
The movie shows the dark side of abandoned children who are forced into begging, prostitution, drugs, organ trafficking, and other crimes.
There is no romance or comedy but has got lots of action and chilling organ trafficking talks. I was horrified by that TBH.
Watch this if you like action and crime genre of movie

I don't know if I like the theme or not. The theme was pretty dark and the delivery was quite... unnerving. My humanity made me hope for better things but, just like life, the film chooses not to. What made me despondent the most was the apparent definiteness in their lives. There were some parts I had to skip because I couldn't take the scene. It shows the characters' brutal reality and maybe some real people's lives, as well. It's sickening for us but it is reality for some people. The plot is solid all through out, it didn't drag on some parts and transitions between scenes were seamless. However, I would've wanted to see some background on the other "children" of Mother because there were some implied connections between the characters but it was never really explored. The movie held up on its own even without those but it would've at least made it easier understand why these characters opted to act that way.
The real star of this movie is the cast. Not just the leads but the entirety of the cast. Each member of the family depicted their parts well. Though at the beginning of the movie, I thought Kim Go Eun looked awkward but then I realized it was because I kept on associating her with her character on Goblin, which was a complete opposite of Il Young. Also, Miss Kim Hye Soo never disappoints. I've seen her in different movies and I'm amazed by her versatility as an actress, along with Kim Go Eun, of course. Jo Hyun Chul, though I have only seen him in this movie, was great as Hong Joo, he was believable as the mentally impaired child.
The music were mostly scores and I thought it complemented the scene very well, in fact, I did not even notice it. It was as important as the visual was. Though the visuals and the story was great. It's not something I would want to watch again. It was brilliant but it was too heartbreaking.
On the side note, credit should also be given to the make-up crew for the wonderful job on Miss Kim Hye Soo. The close-ups showed the face of a weathered "CEO" of a loaning "company".

The mistreatment and hard lives of children is always tough for me to watch and I found this movie even more heartbreaking than Hwayi. As an American, it's also interesting to see depictions of Korea's seedy, criminal underbelly. Sadly, there are cruel, heartless, violent people no matter where you go. That written, Mother is one of the most intriguing characters I've ever seen on film.
I definitely recommend this movie, but unlike Hwayi, it's not a movie I would ever watch again.

Honestly I was super hyped over the trailer and plot hoping for a real bad ass woman revenge history but I feel that I was let down by the easyness of the revenge that was overpower by the dark take on the movie and choice to show a more realistic story line which is a bummer.
Overall still gave a good review score cause as mentioned the stoy is very real and darkly refreshing especially in the first half of the movie.
So advice if you wish to watch the movie leave your drama lover heart at home and focus on the realistic take of the plot !
