This drama got criticised a lot. That a lot of people would just not give it a chance. But believe me, if you're a fan of (( melodramas )) or (( romantic )) ones. This is one of the best.
…….
STORY:
This drama got one of the best story lines. It's not about a romance between chicken restaurants owners, or competitors, or whatever you read from the plot. One thing to say, ITS NOT. This drama is really deep, the romance is deep, different than what you usually watch. It was touching. I won't say they got chemistry or something like that, no it was TOUCHING. A weird one that you won't even understand unless you keep watching.
ACTING/CAST:
Bae Su Bin: If you think you got no reason to watch this, then give Su Bin a one chance to create this reason. Watch one episode and you'll have the reason to continue watching. I watched 26 episodes switching from (I like you), to (I dislike you). Then I finished up watching this drama not knowing, is he a good guy, or bad. I don't even know if I like him or dislike him(drama). But that's not a negative thing, because that's what he is in the drama, a bad guy..and a good one. You know what that means? His acting was DAEBAK, I never knew he was this good.
Jang Shin Young: sometimes got me confused, but you'll get to know her acting style later on. She did really well on the last episodes.
Rest of cast: They did pretty well.
MUSIC:
The music was good, nothing that grabbed my attention, but fitted the scenes.
…….
HOW I RATED THIS:
First episodes: 7.5-8
Last episodes: 8-8.5
Final episode: 10
TO SUM THIS UP:
- Watch it! Do not hesitate. You won't regret it. Listen to me, and WATCH IT!

Because of this, each of them begin to go their own way and try to make do with what they have.
The genres for this are mainly Makjang, Melodrama, Family, and yes, Romance.
You won't find any Comedy in this but, you certainly will find some lovey-dovey couples.
Acting/Cast - With the romance piece, we get to meet one of the best characters ever created in the history of Makjang: Cheon Woon Tak. You can't define this character by good or bad.
He's complex/complicated/loving/evil/indescribable?
His personality has polar opposite, rapid changes back and forth. You always end up thinking you understand him and than the writer does a full 180 with the character and you're oh so, wrong.
Of course, you wouldn't be able to have such a weird, cool character if there wasn't an actor who fit the bill. Bae Su Bin was the miracle worker here. I've always been a long time fan of Bae Su Bin but, this time around, he really made me do a double take. For that alone, I gave the acting a solid 10.
Jang Shin Young was marvelous too. Although, her character had a simple view on life and she sometimes was overshadowed by the character of Cheon Woon Tak, we always ended up cheering her on at the end of the day.
Lee Tae Im had to leave the show more than half-way through because of health issues or that scandal? Anyway, one of the two but, it didn't make that much of a difference. Personally, I felt her character to be very bland or as I would say, salty. You keep eating salt; you start yearning for water.
Nam Bo Ra was a cutie. I hope to see more of this actress very soon. When she played her younger role she kinda annoyed me but, when she gets older, she seems to mature as an actress and get comfortable in her role.
Lee Pil Mo has always been good. I've loved the fellow since "Emergency Couple"
The man needs a lead role. Simple as that.
The rest of the cast were amazing. No complaints whatsoever! A special shout-out to Ha Jae Sook. Who used the most out of her screen-time and managed to steal the audiences heart if only for a quick second.
Music - Nothing special. You won't be searching for the OST and it's just not memorable.
Rewatch - It's one of those watch it once and that's it type of dramas. It's worthy of a watch, just not a rewatch.
Overall - Good melodrama. It kept being cut shorter and shorter so it kinda was cursed with a short ending. They made the most of it though and I don't regret watching it. It can be far-fetched sometimes but, it is entertaining and very binge-worthy.

Oh, man. Did this have a bad rating in Korea? I was enjoying it until... I bet the writer of this drama was devastated when the number of episodes was lowered. This drama had so much potential, but you can tell where the writer had to start cutting corners to end the drama. The writer tries to wrap things up with the ending, but I personally felt that there were things for which I would like more closure. The premise takes makjang to a whole new engaging level. There are some really annoying characters and some stupid side stories. However, it is totally interesting to watch until...Bae Su Bin as Cheon Woon Tak is amazing. I can't believe I felt for this psychologically disturbed character. SPOILERISH His actions are deplorable, but for some reason I believe him at the end. Ok....that is the end of my spoilerishness. I'm a total fan of Jang Shin Young and I think she is exotically beautiful. She plays the naive and innocent Lee Soon Jin very well. Usually those kind of characters get on my last nerve, but I actually feel sorry for her. It even feels good to think that there might be someone out there that is truly kind. The rest of the cast is fine too.
Side note: How unprofessional is it to quit in the middle of a drama? I would like to know if Lee Tae Im was really sick or if she is the prima donna that people claim her to be. Either way, I have heard of actors going to the hospital and still coming back to finish a drama.
Some of the music I enjoyed and some I wanted to peel my face off because it was so annoying.
I will never rewatch this.
I don't really recommend it. I enjoyed it and I would really like them to release the original script so that I can read where the writer wanted to take it originally. It doesn't feel complete. Watch it at your own risk.

This is one of those dramas I'm unsure how to rate. did I love it? not really but I also didn't hate. One thing for sure is that the acting was FANTASTIC.
The storyline had great potential, but the writing left a bit to be desired, particularly with the middle daughter's story. Did we really care what happened with her? Not really (her character was flat and entire story uninteresting) and luckily we didn't, because she falls off the radar completely & randomly in the last few episodes and her "ending" is mentioned in passing by another character. oh well.
I ADORE Bae Soo Bin, so I was hanging in there in the show for him, but his character had too many MAJOR flaws to be as redeemable as they made him out to be in the final episode. He spied on his wife, murdered animals in a rage, had people beaten, put toxic chemicals in food, "set examples" of local small businesses he was pushing around to amass his empire, and that's the tip of the iceberg. He was utterly ruthless. Hot? Oh yeah. But as a character, he was a psychopath and he'd have been kept far far away from my kid.
Also, I didn't really care about ANY of the other side character's storylines either. Most people in this show we absolutely horrible people and who wants to watch that all day long? Makes for loooong/uninteresting drama what should have been 16 episodes instead of 26. *shrugs* I was only was (barely) interested in little sister and the Ajhussi with the little boy as side characters.
Anywho... I wish I could love this one more, because the actors were EPIC and I wanted to love it, but, alas, this one will be uber forgettable even though Bae Soo Bin's acting was fantastic.

Irredeemable
This drama was destined to fail from the beginning. Some of original selected main cast dropped off. Some cast controversies prior to filming. It was cut down from 50 episodes to 26 with premature ending. Conflict between cast. Lee Tae Im absence in the last 5 episodes because she got into an accident, they were even planning to replace her but the drama ended anyway. The writing department suffered immensely, the drama was full of delirious characters. Some complain how stupid Soon Jung is but the real smooth brain is actually Soon Jin, I believe apes have higher intellectual abilities. No wonder why the broadcast ratings were abysmal. Thankfully, it ended early anyway. Was this review helpful to you?
Underrated / Believable characters/ superb story
Underrated for sure.I loved how the characters developed. No cliche love stories. The sisters did not fall in love with first guy they met. .
I liked that the characters were believable. Their behaviour made sense, despite how much I hated them. Specially in laws, so many times I felt like Cheon youngest sister will change after seeing how her family treated her sister in law and her sister. Though she felt bad, there wasn’t a big change in her. Which I liked.
Liked that they did not show that people change after 1 incident. No one else changed except Cheon Woon Tak and the reason was totally understandable. How amazingly he played his character. He was in control all the time. Not a single scene where he did not shine.
Secretary Goo’s character was slow, patient, never boring.
I also loved that the youngest sister did not give up her dream till the end, and did not show that she succeeded with her dream. It makes sense.. she was young and inexperienced..
Every time I predicted the story, I was proven wrong which is but rare in kdrama..

Love it
If you like obsessive male leads, melodrama, and multiple main characters, you may like this show.I personally love this show and have watched it multiple times.
The ML is definitely obsessed over one of the FLs and, while not good in real life, in dramaland, if you can suspend your sense of reality, it might even be described as almost romantic, in a very obsessive way. That said, he is also brutal in his dealings with others and got to the top by sometimes doing things that are not ethical. So he's certainly no hero in the general term. But his ending is pretty good.
The FLs are good, but actually I wanted to write this review to primarily mention Eun Bi, the male leads youngest sister. She was a bully, but of all the MLs family, she was the least bad. Honestly I think she sincerely cared for every single member of her family, whereas her older sister and mother were completely self absorbed and didn't care about anyone, and her brother was completely- well whatever he was. To me, Eun Bi stole the show, and besides the main couple, I most looked forward to scenes with her in it. She was funny and helped move along the plot. And I was glad there was one person in the ML family who I didn't absolutely hate. Once again, not a hero, but I really enjoyed her character and want to give her a shout out.
The person I hated the absolute most in this show was the mother, and props to the actress for playing her so perfectly. The mother was actually the main reason I had any sympathy for the ML and his siblings at all. With a mother like that, it's no surprise how messed up the kids are. The male lead was constantly berated for not being a lap dog and doing everything his mother wanted exactly as she wanted it. The children never got an ounce of love at all. And it makes sense why he would obsess over the FL who is so opposite of the mother. In that sense, the mother character made the plot make sense and is a very valuable addition.

Before production started actress Kim Jung-eun demanded the tittle be changed the production company agreed, however a deal with her didn't go through because of other demands she made. I bring her comment into my review because I agree with her, this tittle is probably the main culprit as to why the drama failed to get a good audience rating.
First off, this drama is NOT a romantic comedy, is not a romantic drama at all!! (there are side stories that can be consider romantic, however is not part of the main plot!) - this drama is about life struggle, corruption, violence, obsession, jealousy, controlling, tragedy, and the redemption of a very emotionally damaged person who found his strength through the lessons he learned from his naive, nice, loving wife.
The drama was cut off from 50 episodes to 25, although they were rushed to end the story in a much shorter time that expected, they did a good job at it. I wish we could have seen more on the transformation of the ML and the FL... however what we did get suffice to give the story a satisfactory ending.
I suggest this drama 100% for those who like relationship dramas that have a strong ML who is emotionally messed up however we end up loving him anyway. The FL is not necessarily weak, she is just very conservative and respectful to traditions, however her love for her family is stronger than anything else.

It's too bad the episodes were cut because the actors did a great job. Bae Soo Bin, especially, was amazing and gave his character plenty of depth and complexity. The three sisters were all rather unlikable, which was a big flaw in a story that revolves around them. For example, we're supposed to sympathize with the eldest sister being mistreated by her mother-in-law, but she comes across as a doormat. Who can sympathize with that? Some of the secondary characters, like Secretary Goo and the interior designer, were more interesting than the sisters. Woon Tak was the best character, hands down, and I would've loved an entire drama dedicated just to his relationship and obsession with the eldest sister.
Technical aspects were hit or miss. Wardrobe was fine but nothing special. Music was either great for the eldest sister's story arc or terrible for the youngest's, and the difference when switching scenes was jarring. Makeup and special effects were pretty good, and pyrotechnics should give themselves a pat on the back. However, cinematography needed a little help. Outdoor scenes were shot well, but those tight closeups EVERY SINGLE TIME something shocking happened just made me laugh.
Overall, I liked this drama, but I really wish the writers had had more time to really develop the story as it seems they had initially planned. It could have been so much better.

Confusion with the title
I usually read Mydramalist reviews, it guides me wether I’ll invest my time....and the reviews on the leading actor is really precise, that part of the bad man is really written for this actor , he nailed it....I hated him but also obsessed now with him, I’m gonna find other dramas that he’s the main lead, I enjoyed his showers hahaha, I’m wondering on kdramas that only male actors have scenes in the shower? Seriously though the drama should have more focused on his obsession , I did fast forward side stories, the youngest sister annoyed me , the lead actress is really beautiful ....the good guy second lead is really cute too, but he was not given a good ending,Was this review helpful to you?
