I've been a fan of Gu Man adaptations but what really pushed me to watch this was Yang Mi. Fresh off Eternal Love I've been looking for something to sate my appetite for both Yang Mi and Mark Chao and this didn't disappoint. HXM was also a bonus (as I did find him quite dreamy in Cruel Romance...which is quite strange for a self proclaimed feminist, he was quite overpowering in CR tbh but I couldn't resist) This review is purely for the film as I've not actually seen the drama
In terms of the story, this is quite fateful to the source (I'm reliably informed) so I have no complaints there. Kept me glued despite the frequent choppy editing (whoever they hired to edit this need to seriously up their skills as despite beautiful cinematography and framework, the way the scene's were cut and transitioned felt jarring) Despite that little gripe this second-chance -at-love story really resonated and made me ache for both the main characters. I really hope we get more Gu Man adaptations as I'm absolutely in love with her stories.
Acting was great...Yang Mi can really deliver, I love that she's beautiful AND can act, no wonder she's so in demand. I'm looking forward to seeing more from her. You can feel her character's emotions and her chemistry with HXM was spot on. HXM surprised me by his performance, man can emote well. Gone was the sometimes wooden acting from CR. I love him even more now.
Music was beautiful, I loved the main song (the one in the hospital and shower scene) anyone please put me out of my misery as I really want to know the name of this song. If I had to say anything negative, it was that the upload I watched had a weird carnival music playing in the background? It was disconcerting...
I would definitely want to watch this again, not for a while but yes worth a watch now and will be again I'm sure.

Yang mi at her best
Yang Mi truly never disappoints she becomes each role. For a true fan you will live the life of Mrs. He, feel her love pain, love and regret. i wont forget to mention the insecurities that comes with seconds chances. Lmao i felt embarrassed as she tried to spice things up. Sadness, as they both reflect on what they've lost. True love and forgiveness. Acceptance and understanding. You really have to weigh what's important in life. Good storyline. I love Angelbaby, i thought there would have been more to her role initially. However she didn't disappoint either. Was this review helpful to you?

Zhao MoSheng and He YiChen - film version
I love Yang Mi and Huang Xiao Ming in this romantic love story between Zhao Mosheng and He YiChen. This movie was way much better than the drama version. The powerful lawyer authoritarian He YiChen character is better with Huang XiaoMing personality than Wallace Chung on which he naturally very tight lips. The wrecker was He YiMei, He YiChen foster little sister, although they share same last name they weren't any blood relation but just closest family friend. Because of dispute in both family and some misunderstanding, they're separated ocean away to lead their own ways. 7 years later they met again by coincidental run in. Still single, He YiChen tried to pursue her again and tricked her to marry him. Who knew MoSheng was a divorcee and He YiChen tried to deal with that fact...he thought that MoSheng wasn't really love him and faithful when she's in the US (because marrying another man) without wanted to listen to her explanation. He met MoSheng's ex husband after collage's reunion and finally found out the reason MoSheng marriage and divorce. He YiChen also dealing with Pei FangMei (Joan Chen as Mo Sheng's step mom) as he believed she's the reason why his dad killed himself and ruined his family. They finally got the happiness they deserved after long wait journey. I love it...beautiful ending.

This movie not give me so much impression. But i watched the drama and the main cast is yang mi so intrigue me to watch. There is several things better in this movie but there is also several things better in the drama. He Yi Mei (HYM) for me better in the movie, because she is not too much drama, she can feel He Yi Chen (HYC) is in love and can't forget Zhao Mo Sheng (ZMS) and she just give up. In the drama HYM is just a little bit too much drama... As for Ying Hui also in the movie better, he just more logical in the movie version ^.^
I also like the Ending where ZMS find out HYC look for her in America. It's like give her some kind of happiness and security.
Cast: Because i don't read the book for me ZMS is better portrait by Tiffany Tang in the drama version. HYC also better portrait by Wallace Chung in the drama version.
Re-watch: I don't think so...

Powerful performance with explosive chemistry
This was my 3rd time watching this movie. i love it very much and felt I need to write this review to give the movie and especially the actors and production the credit they deserved. The movie relys on the powerful performances of the actors especially the leads. The story were packed into a length of a movie so some story lacks elaboration, but the chemistry between the leads and their ablilities to bring to life their assigned characters were what makes the movie so endearing and fulfilling.
YangMi was at her best, her character doesn’t seemed complex but in the simplicity she was able to make us feel her sincerity and her consistency for her love. HXM was just perfect for the role of YiChen. He played the anger, the frustration and grief so well. I just loved it when he said that line “.. I am not drunk, I am crazy …”

Good depiction of second-chance love
This is the move version of Gu Man's book "Silent Separation".Well acted, and well-depicted. The flashbacks to the original misunderstandings were clear and concise. The current-time situation was presented well, and ML did an outstanding job of portraying his frustration / desperation. I liked the love-rival side characters too -- both were realistic, and also stepped back when they realized they had no chance.
The movie is true to the original story (likely because Gu Man was also the screenwriter for the movie), and the movie is MUCH better than the 32-episode drama "My Sunshine" (2015). The drama was tedious, especially the over-long flashbacks, and changed important details.
