I didn't like it as much as many reviewers - good not great
7/10 is my rating. This is a 2011 South Korean movie spanning 123 minutes.A young college man, Gyun-woo (Chae Tae-Hyun) spends his time hanging out with his friends, chasing girls and avoiding his mom’s attempts to set him up. One day he sees a girl (Gianna Jun) over the line while waiting for the train and saves her from tragedy. They board the train and he realizes she is very drunk. She makes a scene on the train insisting that a young guy move and offer his seat to an elderly gentleman. Gyun-woo thinks that he really does not like drunk girls. Things settle a bit and the girl drunkenly sways to the motion of the train while standing near the elderly man. Gyun-woo watches in horror as the girl begins to gag and it is apparent she is going to vomit. She tries to hold back but ultimately vomits all over the elderly man. Just before passing out she gestures Geun-woo’s way and calls him honey. No-one believes him despite his repeated denials and he winds up taking responsibility for her. He piggy backs her to the closest place she can sleep it off- a hotel. And that is the start of a rather crazy relationship.
Spoiler ? So many people liked this movie that I gave it a shot. I did not think it was that good. They never seemed to really get together even in the end. The way she treated him was often just mean and her physical violence toward him was abusive. I understood a little why she was acting so crazy but her behavior toward him was inexcusable. Not meeting at the agreed time was rude and flakey. NI did like the twist where a relationship was revealed I was not aware of. I did not find it very funny. The ending left a lot up in the air. A mediocre movie.

perfect movie
man where do i begin…first off, i started this movie because i kept seeing edits of it all over tiktok (yeah my source is tiktok unfortunately ?) but doesn’t matter because either way i’m grateful i got introduced to this banger of a movie.
the beginning of the movie was lowkey insane and confusing, me and my friend watched it together and we kept having theories of what was going to happen and what was happening throughout it, it was really fun to try and guess how predictable it is.
regardless of its predictability, theres a whole other side to the movie in which you will NOT be able to predict…like…at all…? the movie takes the craziest turns and then mellows it out by giving us a sweet coupley scene and then something crazy happens again- the thing is, i would’ve thought this whole movie is just a big nothing burger if it wasn’t funny- but the movie is HILARIOUS!!! ? like genuinely, i don’t think i’ve ever laughed this much at a korean movie. their humor back in the day was truly unmatched.
although this movie was like, 2hours, swear it did not feel like it was that long at all. it went by so fast and after it ended it made you feel that strange empty feeling. that feeling that gets you like “oh man, i wish this didn’t have to end.” that type of feeling.
this movie also doesn’t have any kissing scenes or anything of that nature which honestly surprised me since it kept going in the most provocative direction in the beginning (and honestly throughout the movie too) , the entire thing was so adorable and incredibly done. the plotwist in the end had left both me and my friend in shock and excitement- although it gets you a bit frustrated by the time the couple clearly fall for each other, the story has a very beautiful ending that makes the entire movie come together in a beautiful way.
the chemistry between the actors was also a thing to note, so beautiful, till this day i have no idea how actors don’t fall for each other when they have these type of roles lol
overall, the movie is great! comedy, romance and entertainment- you have it all packaged right there. the only reason i didn’t give it a ten is because some parts of the movie were a lil too weird for me (and somehow brushed away lol, like the constant motel scenes and the ML’s lowkey pervvy thoughts throughout the movie although im glad they didnt make it into a huge part of his personality) and the movie was honestly super confusing at times that i genuinely had trouble figuring stuff out , the cut scenes were sometimes a bit sudden and would leave you confused but i guess that was the movies whole point since its very uhhhh,,, well, you just gotta watch the movie to get it!
nonetheless, i won’t act too nitpicky, the movie was really good and thats all you need to know- the nitpicks i pointed out are just some things that bothered *me* personally but overall its really good and i enjoyed it very much. i was invested the entire time and loved both of the characters despite them both being crazy lol.
super great movie! and if you love old-esque looking movies + korean movies then you’re especially going to enjoy this! (lil tip, you can watch this entire movie on youtube…thats what me and my friend did lol…enjoyyy)

Nonsensical and over-the-top
I get the appeal of an alpha FL/beta ML dynamic but this was not the way I wanted it to be done; the power dynamic was just way too one-sided and it made the relationship seem more physically and emotionally abusive than funny. Despite the ending (which was a nice touch) I felt like the female lead's personality was air-headed and high-maintenance to the point of being just downright unlikeable and annoying. The plot was actually quite fun for most of it (especially the way they met) but as the plot progressed it kind of lost me; it felt like there was no plot, and sometimes things happened that felt either nonsensical or unnecessary.
This is a light-hearted watch for sure but I'm not sure it aged well.

I watched it again today to find out why I it was a so so movie for me before and checked if it will give me different feelings now.
Well, It's a good movie, but not a great one. It is still so so for me. Maybe because my expectations from a movie is the same as what Kdramas make me feel but for some reasons I just didn't feel that from watching this.

The Jun Ji-hyun show
I'm hard to please on the love story front so that was great. So refreshing to get away from American movie tropes especially in the later parts of the story.>>>> Wanna die?
Jun Ji-hyun is so dorky I love it. Her superstardom begins here and would seemingly continue until the end of times. Sure she's mostly a trash person but she's somehow still endearing because her humanity shows through. Also most guys would just bail out with this kind of behavior but he doesn't because he likes her, and that's relatable.
Great ending, great movie, great story, maybe not ethically the best of morals here but it shows something very real.

At first my feelings for this movie weren't very strong, there wasn't really like but not at all dislike in my body while watching it. I just felt that the characters where a bit exaggerated and the events in the movie felt really randomly placed. For exampel one sequence when they are hostages in an amusement park...
Though, after a while something happened inside me and the story started to change and my feelings grew stronger from the middle and forward. The best part was, no doubt, the ending. I can't even stop myself from smiling when I think about it!

¡Imprescindible!
