Might be cute for those who never watched the anime / read the manga. However, it was very disappointing for me. This is probably because I watched the anime before and loved it, so I had HUGE expectations for this when the film was announced, but I don't it is anywhere near to being as good as the anime.

It might have been better if they made it into a 12-episode (at least) drama as it was obvious that they rushed the story in this movie (a lot isn't covered and it just doesn't seem complete nor as fulfilling).

However, I think the actors portrayed their roles amazingly well, especially Yamazaki Kento. He is such a good actor and so good-looking too!! >< The female lead was also really good. The only biggest problem I find with this is that it is way too rushed due to the short time available in a movie. I hope they decide to make a drama version of this movie soon!

I've watched this and it is an interesting story. I love Yamazaki Kento, but I don't think he suit to be Sata Kyouya. It's just my opinion though. Kento has this prince charming aura thingy and I think he doesn't suit to be a sadist.
it is the first time I watch Nikaido Fumi acting and I think she is really suited to be Erika.
and overall I think you should watch this! my friends cried when watching this >A<

Disclaimer: I haven't seen the anime or read the manga, so I'm not going to compare the two or judge how faithful of an adaptation this was. But even without any prior knowledge of the story, I could tell they left stuff out. If you're a fan of either, don't go in expecting a perfect book-to-movie. You'll just be disappointed.

It's your typical high school romance shoujo manga live-action. You probably know the kind. If you like these movies, you like them. If you don't, you don't. I'm not going to delve into the plot; the synopsis does a good job.

I really did not like the directing. The characters would have these long conversations, especially at the end with the most important conversation in the entire movie, and the camera would be super zoomed out for the entire thing and you couldn't read their expressions. And with a character like Kyoya's, you need to do a lot of reading because he doesn't express his thoughts in words. Really bad decision on the director's part..

I am a huge fan of Yamazaki Kento, but I don't think he was right for this role. I wasn't totally convinced of his jerk-ness.

The story also seemed a bit rushed, particularly the beginning, but that's pretty typical with live action adaptions. It's hard to fit multiple volumes into two hours. I just wish we got a bit more in the middle to show more of the character development. Again, a fault of the director.

There's not much to say. Except for the directing, I personally didn't have any other problems with the movie. It was a cute and lighthearted watch. If you want to just kick back and take a break from your stressful dramas, Wolf Girl and Black Prince is a nice choice.

I already watched the anime and read the manga and, although they are both well made, I didn't like the characters and the story itself. The writing and art is good, but it's basically about an abusive relationship and being happy about it (sorry to the people who love, I find no excuses for Kyouya's behavior).

Why did I see the movie? One reason: Yamazaki Kento. But, although he's still very handsome being blonde (and not a lot of Japanese guys can pull that off), I don't think he fits the role. Maybe because of his baby face, but his eyes weren't as cold and dark as the manga/anime character. Yamakento has that ideal beauty, and Kyouya has a unique trace in the manga/anime, so I would've liked if it was someone different.

FINALLY ABOUT THE MOVIE ITSELF: I found Kyouya a lot more kind and outspoken about his feelings here (this I actually liked), and his story was not developed AT ALL (he just seemed an ass for no reason, and those who know the story know that at least he had motives for being like that). I talked a lot about the ML, but the FL was different as well. She was less irritating but also less bright and excited, I guess? And that made her and the ML to not match each other, in my opinion. It was just awkward.

Conclusion: the movie made everything less abusive, but the actors and the lack of Kyouya's background story had it go downhill.

The Wolf Girl and the Black Prince is one of my highest ranked shoujo mangas and I think if you're accounting the length of the movie and all the major details, the movie corresponded with the manga pretty well. I do wish it wasn't a movie in a way, since a drama would be able to develop but this movie was overall pleasing to watch. It depicted the relationship between the fake lovers and the relationship Erika has with the other people in her life. The rollercoaster of emotions did remind me of when I first read the manga which I have to applaud the directors for on that part. Even if you didn't read the manga (which is amazing btw), this is a good movie to watch if you're into the high school romance love genre.

I just saw the film with subtitles in my language, It is the first time I make a review, but I wanted to do it.
Then...I'm a bit disappointed for the film...I expected very different.
we say that the shooting are not that great, talk of the protagonist who plays Erika, I did not like at all.
Yamazaki Kento I liked to see him in the role of Kyoya-kun,not be like the manga or the anime but...I prefer him instead of her (Nikaido Fumi)
shame really...I was disappointed with the film, I expected very differentI.

My review is certainly a bit lower than other reviews. Believe me, as someone who's read the manga, this movie is a huge disappointment (Sorry, Yamazaki Kento). I get the the movie tries to rush everything but there are so many scenes in the manga that is worth to be in the movie and the writer should not just pick out some random scenes that they think it will be worthwhile to watch. Throughout the movie, I cringed so hard and hoped to finish the movie soon so that I could reread the manga.

My bad for having a high expectations especially when Yamazaki Kento is one of my fav actors, and I do understand the audience's pain when they see him playing a similar character again and again, it's almost as if he is not a versatile actor can only act that type of personality ( a jerk, dumbass personality).

I gave the music a high score because of Back Number singing the OST (check out the band)! Lastly, the manga is so so much better and I would say not to bother yourself watching the movie and read the manga instead.

5 stars for getting butterflies flying in my stomach, also with its great production value.

The story was kinda weird, I could say that the relationship between Erika (Fumi Nikaido) and Kyouya (Kento Yamazaki) was toxic but delivered lightly, typical shoujo genre. What makes me bond with Erika and Kyouya is because they are often together even though it is quite annoying because Kyouya thinks Erika is just his dog. Meanwhile, Erika hopes for more, this is shown by her very sweet attention and treatment to Kyouya and makes me fall in love with Fumi Nikkaido myself. Fumi-san was just so kawaiii and make my heart doki-doki.

What makes me thinking to give this film 5-star is what I've type above "the production value", usually when I watch japanese manga live action high school romance it's either gonna be bland and flat or exaggerating everything, but this Okami Shojo is right in the middle, balanced.

I love all the settings: the school, Ayumi's house, Kyouya's apartment, Kobe, even just the street. The environment doesn't feel dull, has a great scenery, life inside it was not quiet or weird, just like what it is should be in real life.

The cinematography was top notch, they make useful of all the settings, take a lot of great shot from it, like my favorite one when Erika talk to Kyouya about dating in free time later after school trip, while they're sitting between the pillars in front of the door of a building and DOP taking shot of Erika and Kyouya from inside the building when the door opened and at that moment I realized that this film production team is no joke, it's simple but picturesque.

After that I remember the one take shot at beginning when Erika with her friend, Ayumi, tailing Kyouya to get the pictures of him and then the girls's runaway, I watch it again and it feels so satisfying. Also I realize how great the camera movement throughout the film, truly looks like a real pro. I take a note of the cinematographer name, his name is Yasushi Hanamura, well done.

Next is the sound, they put a perfect song or music for every scene, not just using orchestral sound but a lot of english fun song that I find it rare in japanese film. All the emotion of the characters, whether it's sad or happy it can radiate more with the help of music.

Then the actors, they played all the characters very well, especially Fumi Nakaido and Kento Yamazaki, as one of the thing that makes this film works.

Overall, a very good film imo. I have a lot to say in my mind but hard to put it in to words, so that's it. Thank you.

Nice surprise, cute moment

I liked this way more than what I thought I would. Here's why.

First, the things I didn't like:
The camera work was very annoying.
They do very wide shots during important discussions instead of showing the actors's face...
They could have filmed from bird eye view it would have been the same effect...
This is really not the best to be able to be immersed in the character's emotions and the story.
It's like we see everything from very far (from accross the street) and that this is just two strangers having a conversation

But I liked Kento's portrayal very much. He really is a great actor and although his character is pretty classic among manga stories, he did a really good job. And this role suits him very well

Even tho this is a summary of the story, and reading the manga would be better to get the full picture and have the whole impact of their relationship, the final scene was very beautiful and very efficient.

I kinda of recommend it if you want a cute story that feels real but is still a light watch.

I've never read the manga though I know it's quite popular. When the guy says to a girl, "You're my dog and I'm your master" there's honestly nothing more than that. Call it cultural difference but I'd probably kick someone if they called me their dog. Anyway, since this movie enabled me to get past that cringe dialogue means it was a great one.

The premise is cute (minus the dog statement). The cast is cute and definitely passes off as teenagers to me. I am only familiar with the main actor but I liked them all. It's got usual shoujo manga tropes and there's not a lot of depth to the story. Sometimes it is hard to condense the story in a two-hour film so live actions will always let down in some or the other ways. However, it was very funny and had a good amount of LOL moments.

Only those who are into shoujo manga/anime/films will love this film since it comes across as silly at times. I also had good second lead syndrome in the last hour of the movie and the main lead was a plain hurting jerk a lot of times. I was okay with it because he wasn't exactly 'abusive'. He was nice to the girl and cold the moment.

Watch this film if you're a fan of the manga or just looking for something cute to pass your time. It was worth my time.

The average rating doesn’t suit the deeper layers of this film. You should watch it.

It’s a typical deeper meaning Japanese movie. I forgot that I already watched this film a long time age. That’s because I watch a lot of movies and series. But the feeling of how beautiful the deeper layers in especially his behavior (being damaged in his past, with forthcoming behavior as consequence) struck me directly again.

The movie is softer than the manga, from what I read. It also doesn’t the complete story and the years after. I’ll leave the manga and the behavior in that out of the evaluation and rating.
(Has spoilers https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolf_Girl_and_Black_Prince)

He was ‘wearing’ a shield to defend himself, because of harm in the past. That shield was his behavior, in order to not get further harm in his live. Behavior always has a reason. He’s not just a jurk, born this way. Behavior is often a reaction to (a) certain event(s), which brought about thoughts and feelings. If you change your behavior, you change your life. That is not easy. It requires awareness, insight and the courage to dare to change. That's what we've seen here. This takes time. Fall and rise. At the end of the film, this process is not yet complete. Not with both, because se also changed, with as outcome the decision she made in the end (I won’t spoil that).

I love the acting of both. Yes, he looked like a cold person. But that was his shield role, right?

The music suits the film.

I’ll surely will watch this movie again. .
