First few episodes felt really slow for me. Honestly I almost gave up until the 4th episode in which I finally felt a hook for me to continue watching. The actors were good at portraying their roles but what made me stay was how close the story line is from what really happens in the Kpop industry. I like how they showed how hard it is in the business and how it has changed since the start of Hallyu wave by using Yoon Jae's character. It's also funny how they used real idols/singers as actors for an idol/singer character. I felt like everyone was so invested in their roles but my favorite would be the kid Malseok. I thought at first that she was the most random character but I can't seem to see the series to be a success without her. Overall, it's a good series about dreams, regrets, family, and passion.
P.S. I lowkey wished they gave Jihoon's, Drill's and MJ'scharacter a second season.

I  feel somewhat confused by what I just finished watching.

On a basic level this drama has it all, friendship, family, romance, character development, time travel, humour, music, it really has it all. But this isn't necessarily a good thing. With all of that come the responsibility to maintain all these and sadly, Hit the Top fails at this. I am unsure if this is because it is a 30min episodic drama, which gives the element of moving onto something new in the next episode, or how the story is shared. To me, there is too much focus on some characters at times that are not propelling the story forward, or not enough focus on the relevant parts of the story.

This is very evident with the time travel factor. Yoon Shi Yoon's character in the beginning is led through some physically challenging tasks to return to the past. However, once they don't work, it's like this old rerun of a saying "go back to where you belong" is said, but no work is achieved. This also relates to his lost money and again there is no true emphasis on either after awhile.. it's just left until towards the end where SO MUCH wrapping up occurs. Speaking of, when Yoo Hyun Jae is finally able to return to his past, it makes little sense. What makes him suddenly feel the need to make this a mission? How does he know he needs to return, and what happens to old Hyun Jae? So many questions that are simply flicked off in the present as "I don't know what happened." That doesn't sit with me and puts a huge dent in this being an enjoyable, believable experience of time travelling that any of the other characters seem to accept.

The romance is shaky, and very up and down. I am a huge Yoon Shi Yoon fan, and when it comes to romance, he usually knows what he's doing given any role he's undertaken in the past. For some reason this doesn't occur as naturally as it has in other dramas. Again, Lee Se Young has also proven herself as a formidable actress to me in Introverted Boss/Age of Youth, and was expecting her to shine as Da Bong's lover. But it just seemed forced. Again much like other 30min dramas, I feel they skip over many steps in their relationship once it's occurred. I guess I like to be led down the path with the characters as they fall in love, not told it's happened.

This drama has a lot of actors who I normally expect a lot from, and so perhaps that is why it failed in my eyes when their performances weren't as strong. I put this down to the busy nature of this drama, the multiple lives we are following about, and the lack of growth in several areas. I honestly found my interest in some of the stories shared to drop around episode 12, and never return. I didn't care for some of the characters, no matter how vital they were made to be to the story. Others could have been more utilised as well, but they weren't and it made it rather messy.

If you are looking for something uncomplicated that is great to watch whilst doing something else, then this might be enjoyable for you. For me, I feel like even though it wrapped up the lives of all with a nicely tied off ribbon, many loose threads leave me questioning what went wrong in this, and how it could have been executed better.

It took me quite a long time to finally finish this, I wish I would've done it sooner! It was a great drama to say the least, one of those series that redeemed itself towards the end. First off, the story was quite fascinating for me at least. I know, time traveling is nothing new, but somehow, I knew from reading the plot that I wanted to watch this. And the actors, definitely another reason why I was so eager to start watching. I did enjoy the first couple of episodes, but some of the characters seemed foolish, and the story was kind of dull. But the character development in this was something that defines a great drama. The love story between Dabong and Woo Seung was naturally intertwined into the main storyline, they did have great chemistry. Dabong's character development + the sweet story between grandpa and his granddaughter were some of the details that lifted this series from ashes. In addition, I found the OST to be very catchy, which is always a plus. Nonetheless, this drama was a bit boring in the beginning, but made its way back with a bang. It's easy-to-watch and definitely worth-while!

Plot

Okay so, this drama is a little bit different. Cause there is romance, family problems, life struggle, comedy. Like all in one. And actor's acting was superb. I can guarantee that one won't feel bored watching this. And there is lot of funny scenes too. I will recommend this drama. Because generally I do watch lot of dramas. Sometimes I feel bored to watch, because of same story and all. But this is not like this. And also I really liked the cast's chemistry. If you want something different, not boring, good chemistry, a little bit of mystery, little craziness, comedy, tragedy then you can watch this drama undoubtedly.

light hearted comfort show

i watched this as it premiered and have since watched it again at least 5 or so times , and ive got to say i do not get the disdain for how the main couple ends up with eachother. maybe because i knew when i started they would end up together it just seemed obvious from the first episode. they make ji hoon unlikable and rude imo (which is understandable, he let a homeless man with amnesia into his home... and he touches all your stuff, id be rude too),,, so i dont feel bad for him.its hilarious watching hyun jae root for his sons first love and then decide to just steal his girl it gets funnier every new watch. but if you didnt expect this i understand how it could make you upset. the comedy and tropes this drama uses are my absolute favorite truly nothing wrong with this drama besides the time travel plot line is iffy when you think too much but i dont mind since its not important if you just trust it works in their fictional universe. very comforting show with a good soundtrack. hidden identity is done really well here and the identity reveals are drawn out for different characters in the show which keeps it entertaining the entire time because the reactions are hilarious.

Yoon Shi-Yoon ❤❤✔

Regardless in the story, it's driving me crazy thinking where does Dabong came from, from the year of 94 if 93 he time travel to the year of 2017, then at present he quite remember something happened from the year of 94 ( which was the email he sent out to the president of world entertainment if 93 he time traveled to present 2017)

The acting is so amazing, its like they are acting like in real world, very genuine. I like it so much, it makes me more laughed- DOESN'T makes me waste of time watching :) Da Bong is Awesome ! Adorable! Funny :) I like the story except the part which I noticed there's a little bit complicated between 93-94 :(
Actors and actresses are so so THUMBS UP!

They are all oppa, especially yoon shi yoon I keep searching on his face and actions where he can be ugly in the whole episodes so I could be stop myself admiring him but it seems he's so awsome and adorable on everything. His 90's hair style looks him so cool! Adorable! Hope 1 day I'm gonna see him in person :(
22188- Dabong ❤ THUMBS UP!

SO MUCH POTENTIAL ...... BUT FALLS FLAT IN THE END

started out amazing but towards the end ...... it was monumental MESS!!!!

Towards the 2nd half of the drama. you can sense the direction of the show . In stead of focusing the MUSIC aspect of the show.... the writers decided we needed to insult our intelligence with a Love triangle that frankly DIDNT add any value to the show.

I would LOVE the show to show the struggle and rise of the trainee Idol WITH the help of the time travel storyline BUT What they did was made it in some "let me fall in love " with FL angle

lets NOT even start with nonsensical last 4 episodes Which i pretty fast forward because it was WORSE than watching PAINT DRY !!!!!

I decided to watch this show for two reasons: first, I have just watched Moon lovers Scarlett Ryeo and  I have never though it would break my heart as it did... So I needed something to laugh and have fun. For this reason I was looking for something light to watch, and I remembered the video of this show's song "Beautiful, beautiful" that I have seen countless times on YouTube, so I decided to give it a try. It was the correct choice. I liked it very much because it made me laugh a lot. I'll never forget the La La Land scene.
Ok, it's not perfect, the story plot has some lacking -as almost always when time's travels are on it-,  and sometimes it goes too slow (it would have been better 25 episodes or so instead of 32). On the other hand I don't know why but I found kind of difficult to believe the feelings and/or the acting of the female main lead towards the main lead.
But... It's soooo funny. And Yoon Shi Yoon it's so good in his role. Only with these two reasons its worth watching it, but also the story is cute, about problems and situations every one of us has to face in their lifetime: friends, family, work and dreams, and the seconds leads are ok too.
So, if you need something light to cheer you up, to watch this show and to listen the main song are really the best option to get it.

•Story- a student has to hide that he wants to pursue music while his family is in entertainment business.a girl is betrayed by by her best friend and boyfriend as they are sneaking around behind her. And then there is our main lead who was a arrogant, self centered idol of 1993 travelled to future.
•Acting-there is a lot of character development scope and it was done beautifully for each character. Kim min jae as lee ji hoon tries to fit into what the world by not hurting his parents with his dreams and gives up his passion of becoming idol but then the ultimate opportunity follows him.he was good as a friend who provides shelter for his friends and and makes peace with the changes going on. Lee se young as choi woo seung was average. The only scene I liked was when she was leaving her friends apartment and divided the thing, her screen sharing with cha eun woo was also nice. Yoon shi yoon as yoo hyun jae nailed his character as he is shown travelled to future. And as we know todays modern gadget MOBILE makes you go crazy and he did that amazingly well. He just blended into the character. Cha eun woo was also left a remarkable screen presence inspite of less screen time.
•Music-it was average but BGM is done well
•Rewatch-only few comic scenes of instead of whole drama.
•Conclusion- good drama maybe a single watch with few rewatchable comic scenes and romantic scenes. Ending was a bit confusing. Writers tried hard to do a proper ending but it was complete mess for me

Worth watching but end kinda sucked

so the story is actually really good and you get to see a lot of REAL stuff about the music industry and making a means of living. But after 3/4 of the episodes are over, it drops. I wouldnt watch it again because the ending didn't show what i was actually interested in and was bitter-sweet.
Overall pretty good plot

Honestly this show was a rollercoaster (in a good way tho). It had me feeling sad, happy, weirded out, angry etc. It was a great show overall, with an interesting story line, nice production, amazing acting, and ngl imma have to admit, the actors/actresses all in this show were face geniusesssssss. I especially love the female leads character and how the actress portrays the role. This has become one of my all time favourite dramas. I do have to say tho, that the ending was a bit rushed and the beginning of the show was a bit dragged. But overall, it was an enjoyable show. Definitely worth watching!

Not Your Typical Rom-Com but It's Very Cute

So basically our ML is a famous singer who travels 20 years into the future , and learns that he actually disappeared in 1994. You would think the plot is centered around him trying to figure out why he disappeared and how to get back , but the drama strays away from that and shifts into a show about 4 friends trying to figure out their dreams, with an ounce of family relationships being touched upon as well. We also get a glance at how the life of a trainee is, and what it's like to be an idol. A lot of people rate the drama low because of the major change in plot, but personally I loved it, I thought the romance between the leads were cute, and I liked a majority of the cast, especially Eun Woo as MJ, the show had the right balance of comedy and romance, with a great OST. There were some parts of the show that I felt was forced or redundant, but outside of that it is a nice enjoyable watch, and if you're a fan of YSY this is must watch.
