Both films concern the topic of Korean comfort women in the second World War, although 'I Can Speak' also includes issues such as the treatment of the elderly in Korea.
The majority of the film time in 'Spirits' Homecoming' is set in the historical period and focuses primarily on the experiences of Korean comfort women in WW2. 'I Can Speak' on the other-hand is set in the present time and is therefore more concentrated on remembering and learning from the past events.
The genres of both films are also quite different. If you're up for something more lighthearted, 'I Can Speak' is the way to go. If not, just a warning...'Spirits' Homecoming' may be a little disturbing for some viewers as the raping scenes are quite violent and explicit (no full nudity shown however), and there are other violent scenes with killings and fighting.

1 . Navillera is heart warming drama while I can speak is heart warming movie
2. The growth of friendship , what starts off as a sour start to their relationship turns into a sweet friendship is similar in both ( where in start one lead is running away from other and were hating as they were total strangers but in the end they become someone who is like their own family member )
3. There is a character development
4 . in both of them one lead wants to learn something from other one
5 no romance

Apparently, i can speak looks like it is not about japan korea history but after watching half of the movie you will see that the old woman is actually a rescue woman from japan brothel (jail) where the japan military do bad deeds to women. But you will enjoy the movie as the second half is really heart breaking piece.
