Love movies with an intellectual twist? This movie is extremely gripping, creepy, and exciting. Some of the characters act really well, and make you feel, angry or sympathy. The acting is amazing, some of the dramatic scenes are overdone, but the cinematic prose. The story line is truly something worthy of viewing for those curious about social problems, and alternate lifestyles based on greed, and deception. The story line flows in a seamless fashion telling many stories along the way about the struggles of poor people, and those on the other side of the spectrum.

Park So Dam frustrated me at times with her lack of emotion, and expression, but the overall acting from cast members, such as Kang-Ho Song, and Cho Yeo-Jeong are truly world class, and inspiring to the viewers. They really immerse you with such an incredible performance, and understand the story of the person, and not just the dialogue itself. This is the most impressive acting I've seen so far, there are so many stories within stories if you really pay attention. It is not a film I would recommend to those who are looking to pass time, as its something you would need to sit down, and involve yourself in to get the full depth of flavour, and truly taste the quality of the film.

So how on Earth did this movie win an Oscar?

So I finally got the opportunity to watch this movie. And what a big waste of 2 hours of my life. This was the most boring movie I've ever watched. How the fuck did this movie get an Oscar? Like I get the point that this family conned their way into another family's home to make money and then some rando is living in their basement and they don't even know that? Then he starts going on a k*lling spree? Makes no fucking sense. And then the dad of the poor family k*lls the father of the rich family and then locks himself in the bunker so he won't face any criminal charges. To the very very last seconds of the movie where the son buys the house. Where he, his mom and his dad reunite. I think it sucks the one girl dies in the movie because she was cute.

Do I have to even write why this film is just my favorite film of all time?

I've been watching the colored version 3 times, and the black/white version as my 4th time.

Of course you can all just ask other reviewers and maybe everyone all over the internet. This movie is a Bong Joon Ho masterpiece that puts the perfection on every. single. part. I really bet the movie will be have a large cult following on many many years ahead, just like Spirited Away, Battle Royale, or 2001: A Space Oddysey. While we can all agree that there are so many good movies, Parasite is perhaps the movie that will "upgrade" your standard for a movie with social-class issues.

The hype is real and it didn't disappoint. I read a lot of reviews about this film after watching it & even heard a lot of hype buzz before this actually shared with the whole world. A lot of viewers already conveyed their profound insights and feels towards this film and I'm with them, I couldn't agree more.
Dir. Bong Joon Ho captured his artistry through the lens and writing with a great ensemble cast that portrayed his characters into life.
There are actual films that I expected to be good with yes, high expectations but somehow disappointed me that felt flat but for Parasite, they grab and crushed it, showing us great Korean cinema.

Cinematic perfection!!

This is a masterpiece and a must-watch. Proof that great cinema can come from anywhere in the world.
The story is fantastic - so much so that I want you to go into it without knowing anything. I promise that's the best way to watch this film.
The cinematography is excellent and Bong Joon Ho's direction is brilliant - keeping you on your toes throughout. The cast is excellent too - the dynamics between rich and poor is so convincingly portrayed here.
That Oscar was so well deserved!
Enjoy!

''Because the story is about the poor family infiltrating and creeping into the rich house, it seems very obvious that Parasite refers to the poor family, and I think that's why the marketing team was a little hesitant. But if you look at it the other way, you can say that rich family, they're also parasites in terms of labor. They can't even wash dishes, they can't drive themselves, so they leech off the poor family's labor. So both are parasites.'' -words from the director Bong.

And this was beautifully directed. The shots, the sets, they're very aesthetically pleasing. All the scenes which indirectly denote the differences between social classes (for example, the rich family having to walk upstairs to get to their house, while the poor family has to go down.. how the rich family's house is always so bright while the poor family's house is in constant gloom).
I don't have much to say, actually. I was just left thinking I HAVE to check out more Korean cinema. The acting feels much more real and it touches much more mature topics. I know I'm kind of late, but this film deserved its Oscar.

Out of all his recent works this is probably his best one and in my list of favorite directed by Bong Joon-ho is at the top 3. The one thing that stood out to me the most on this movie is the cast and the chemistry they got with each other, it feels like a real family.

What makes this movie but also is one of the worst things about this movie is the ending. It's just rushed, and on a first watch it doesn't feel that way but once you rewatch the film you realize it really is a rushed ending. But aside from that is an excellent film and one of Bong Joon-ho's best works.

I think this is one of the best movies out there. In the film there's not going to be recognizable actors or incredible effects, but the idea, scenario, acting - everything is perfect. The film will draw you in, till its end, but in the ending it will stay in yours memory for a long time.

This movie is trully great and of extremely significance, not just because of the great cinematography, directing and acting, but also for basically raising korean cinema to a worldwide status by being not just the first korean film, but the first foreign film to win the Oscar of best picture, paving the way for other foreign works.

This movie will make you feel all sorts of way, specially considering the huge tone shift halfway through it and an ending that will most likely throw you off and leave you wondering what the hell just happened, but I believe that was intentional and something that sets this movie apart, making you tense, although super engaged in what's going on, with this looming feeling that anything can happen. I honestly praise Joonho for his courage of making such bold decisions for this story.

All the characters are layered and feel human. They are flawed and even do some questionable stuff, but that doesn't stop us from rooting for them, specially the poor family, since the acting and the script allow us to understand their motivations and struggles. The plot revolves around a quite old, but still relevant topic: class conflict, which is aproached in a very nuanced manner. The story is full of symbolisms and does a wonderful job of juxtaposing two opposite points of view, making you question who's the real parasite.

I admit that you might be confused after watching Parasite, but I firmly believe this is one of its charms: it leaves wondering and sticks to you for a very long time. I strongly recommend you watch this film and then try watching videos dissecting it and also interviews with Bong Joonho about it, then you can reflect about its message and form your own conclusions, since I think there are many elements in this movie that are opened to interpretation. If you're not a person that likes a dense, complicated plot that will require you use your brain to decipher it, though, this is definitely not for you.

I have to say the first half until almost the last parts, the story was tense and so enjoyable to watch. Usually, movies go big at the ending, but this movie is different. The acting was excellent, the story was great either, the only problem is there wasn’t much of an anticlimax in this movie. You only got to see the real problem happening in the last 20 minutes of the movie and it ruined all the fun in the previous scenes.

The story was one of a kind, but I have to say the ending was disappointing, we were hoping for some kind of justice for the rich family, and maybe a reunion between the “parasite” family, but the ending clearly doesn’t meet my expectations.

It won an oscar for need I say more?

It won an oscar need I say more? multiple infact.Within my review I'm not going to go on about how well deserved the oscar was and how historic of a moment it was because i feel like thats well spread information at this point.

STORY
The metaphors within this film even with the title alone are extraordinary.
It really touches on real life issues and it's so powerful for so many reasons.
You can tell a lot of thought went into this movie and it really shows I really reccomend after watching this movie to check out this video if your intrested , it is truelly well explained why this movie is so smart:
https://youtu.be/zgAK-4kPTb8
(This video is not mine i do not take credit for it in any way)

ACTING/CAST
They definitely delivered what was supposed to be delivered, I had already known a couple faces from other works but this definitely showed them off and the production team did a good job with fitting them into the right roles.

MUSIC
I'm going to mix in overall sound production because wow. I watched this in a cinima and idk If I've ever heard such beautiful pacing in terms of the volume and impact of sounds.

RE-WATCH VALUE
So high, I feel like theres new things to discover each new viewing but it really depends on the person.

OVERALL AND EXTRA
As an aspiring cinimatographer/camera op my heart was racing watching this movie and even thinking about it.
Key parts for me was the cinimatography and the thought in each frame, with lines boy oh boy the lines made me happy.
Anyway please please go watch truelly you will be missing out if you dont.
Also my review does not in any means do this movie enough justice as I'm bad at writing out my thoughts without rambling which is what I'm doing now ah.i also wrote this review a while after watching it so i took away my intial joy, still love the movie.

You need to watch this!

There is a reason why this drama was rated so well everywhere! You may already know this or may not but this movie basically revolves around 2 familys, the dumb rich family and the intelligent poor family; the struggling son in the family manages to decieve the wealthy mother and bring his entire family to come work for them, soon to discover the secrets lying in the family and the people they know. The deeper the story gets the more interesting as there are many plot twists and scenes that get you to the edge of your seat. Strangely enough, its quite hard to explain how it grabbed my attention. Explaining it all out it doesnt seem that great but when you watch it its a completely different story. This is easily the best successfully executed films of the entire year. From its thematic resonance to defining an issue in our era with an impressive amount of skill, i cannot help but agree with all the other people who loved this movie. Yes, this type of show wasnt my go to, but i loved it anyways. I would not watch this with any children under the age of 13.
