Fun series

One of my faves. Fun series to watch. Doesn’t take itself seriously, which is perfectly fine. Cast is good looking. I find most of the characters interesting. Here’s my rating on the characters/ main couple.

BohnxDuen - Most interesting couple by far. Cooper is freaking hot. Poy is freaking adorable. They have great chemistry together. Bohn is the type of character who is aggressive, jealous, and full of himself. Duen is the type that is innocent and clueless. They both nail their roles. While Bohn can get a little too jealous, I don’t find it overbearing or toxic like other people do. What I do find is that it adds more spice to their relationship. Without Bohn’s Type A personality we would have waited until the second season for them to get together. Also, when they have truly sweet moments it hits harder because they are a much more playful duo most of the time. Favorite couple by far.

MekxBoss - I liked this couple. I liked their dynamic. Their story was interesting to me and it really made me feel for Mek. They also had great chemistry. I didn’t find Boss’ personality offensive like others did. Some people are just naturally too much lol. I also didn’t mind his humor. Also, for someone who had their voice dubbed I thought Ryan did a great job conveying Mek’s emotions. 2nd favorite couple.

RamxKing - RamxKing is what originally got me to watch this series. I saw some clips on them and decided to watch the whole series. First of all, Lay and Perth are freaking hot. Let’s just get that out of the way. King is a great character. He’s funny, mature, and extremely caring. Ram is an interesting character. He’s loyal, takes care of his friends, and is a nice guy. Unfortunately, I found his character trait of not talking start to get annoying by the end of the series. RamxKing did have some funny side character interactions( King’s sister, the three fangirls lol) and some of the most touching scenes. They also had the best kiss out of the couples. Towards the end of the series though I started to find their relationship boring, which was sad because they were the reason I started watching this show in the first place. I felt like their chemistry wasn’t as good as BohnxDuen or MekxBoss. Individually I think they’re great characters, but together they kind of fizzled out toward the end for me. Tie between Thara/Frong for least favorite couple.

TharaxFrong - Least favorite couple only because they didn’t have enough screen time for anything to happen. I guess they were planning to do a season 2 but I don’t know what happened. Their chemistry was alright. Shane is freaking hot. That’s about all I can say. I thought they were kind of boring honestly. I did like the hospital scene where Frong apologizes to Thara. I thought that was touching. Other than that though, if they make a season 2 hopefully they’ll have more screen time. Tie between RamxKing for least favorite couple.

So that’s my review. I thought I would like RamxKing the most when I started this series but it ended up being BohnxDuen as my favorite. Series is definitely not groundbreaking or anything but it is fun. Have watched through multiple times. Scored it as 10 because for me I can rewatch over and over. Also like the 3 songs from the OST.

NOTHING OVER THE TOP BUT SPECIAL!!!!

This kind of series is not really my top-pick but I love it! Idk what this series has on me but I was hooked by this. There's a lot cliches and awkwardness here but u know, I didn't mind it, at all. Cooper and Poy chemistry is cute and they might not shine so much in this series but I love their sweet moments. Ryan and Intouch chemistry, for me, is meeehhh it's fine but not the best. Like, sure they can exist I don't mind. Ryan's dubbed voice is overwhelming, not matching his looks and aura. I know because he's Chinese that's why his dialogues were dubbed (he's not probably fluent in Thai). Talay and Perth did their thing. The other couple is good but the actor portraying Thara is so manly and attractive. I'm not really fan of a lead being easily jealous but sulking moments are fine. This series got me, the episodes are getting better and better. When it comes to acting, the actors need a little more polish. Overall this series is enjoyable and recommendable to those who wants to breathe fresh air after watching complicated bl out there.

This show is so CUTE!

I love it. The couples are so cute. The actors are adorable and do an awesome job!

Boun/Duen - Duen is such a puppy! When he smiles everything is brighter, I swear his woobie face makes everything better. Boun - some people are complaining that he said "I don't like men, I only like Duen" but whatever. To me sexuality labels are totally a social construct and maybe Boun is demisexual he doesn't have to like men to like Duen. He doesn't have to like anyone to like Duen. In fact when he started this whole thing he DIDN'T like Duen. Even he doesn't know when he started falling for Duen and his stupid, clueless self. Stop getting annoyed because of this line it's not a big deal not everyone who falls for a man has to be "gay" they can be demi, they can be bi, they can be pan, they can be fluid, they can be that 99% straight on the kinsey scale that liked women and now all of a sudden fell for a man okay? It's a sliding scale.

Mek/Boss - I think this one is my favorite couple. I love LOVE L-O-V-E Mek. He is my favorite character I think (apart from the creepy shrine to Boss a la Helga from Hey! Arnold). Boss is so clueless I want to smack him upside the back of the head. I mean Mek confesses to Boss every episode I think. And then says "lor len" (to kid/mess/play/joke around). YOU ARE NOT EFFING JOKING, MEK! STOP SAYING "LOR LEN"!!! I LOVE THEM SO MUCH!

Ram/King - OMG! RAM'S RBF gives me LIFE! And Ram's Brother knows him so well!! I AM CRYING BECAUSE OF HOW MUCH I LAUGHED THANKS TO THAT KID! King is adorable too. What's even funnier is that Perth (the actor who plays Ram) is the oldest cast member, and he plays the Junior.

Frong really annoys me. Thara is so cute. I can't believe they're gonna be pairing these two together. I hope Dr. Thara can redeem Frong for me.

Ting is so cute!! I'm so glad this show is treating her like a main cast member and giving her so much importance. I usually see BLs cast female actors & characters to the wayside usually so this is such a nice change.

THE KIDS!!! HOW CUTE ARE THEY!!!

I love the sound track of this show. It is so sexy. I couldn't think of another word. I love it. It is so soothing and beautiful!

If I have to give one critique? Mek is voiced over. The actor playing him (Ryan/Raff) is Chinese, and he didn't speak Thai when he played Mek. So they hired a Thai actor to dub over his character, this is very obvious and you can hear the change in ambient sounds and etc. when he is speaking. It is very odd. But by episode 3, I was used to it. I started glossing over the fact that Mek was dubbed over.

The plot is based in a University where there are multiple couples, which is a classic set up. Each relationship is special in its own way. There are ups and downs in each relationship but nothing that you can't handle. My favourite moments are the comedic timings just before a potential romantic scene. The medical senior and Duen's cousin Thara is my favourite character because he has a part which is handsome, smart, kind and charming and then the other part which is completely weird that wards off people.

The OST is surprisingly lighthearted and gives good vibes which is one of the aspects that I like about this series. The production is not too bad. Yes, there are certain scenes which seem being rushed or not well coordinated, however; we don't know how tight schedule was and what were the other factors that could have affected them.

The later episodes keep getting better and it seems after spending some time together the bunch of new actors have bonded and are comfortable acting with each other. I swear, in the initial episodes I decided to drop the series because the awkwardness and lack of chemistry were evident amongst the cast. I'm glad that I stuck around and followed the series. It's getting better as it's about to end.

I still feel that the scenes for the other three couples besides Bohn - Duen were really rushed. Especially Boss - Mek, the episode covering them realizing their love for each other is messy and I feel that the director could have excluded the kiss because boy Ryan looked forced in it. He crushed his lips with Inntouch - ouch, that would have hurt! A simple confession and hug would have been much better than the kiss, I don't understand why Thara and Frong's relationship took this long to flourish, it seems too rushed too. King and Ram also are in an ambiguous relationship and we aren't sure if King will even realise that he has fallen for Ram. Duen and Bohn had the most screen timing but their love story doesn't seem strong enough to take the lead in my opinion.

However, the only thing that I liked about Bohn's character is that despite being a "stud" he has this mesmerising enchantment towards flowers which is a feminine side of him although he denies it. I didn't like the idea where they dedicated 1.5 episodes on deciding who will be top and bottom when ultimately they couldn't even decide. I mean, is that even necessary. However, that is also to break stereotypes around Uke - Seme attributes in BL.

Well, my plea to all the potential viewers is to give the series a chance. It may not seem strong but it's comic relief makes it watchable.

I really love this series. All couples have a different dynamic and every character has a distinct personality, which makes it even more interesting. I also like that all couples get equal screentime. They don't rush anything and take their time to develop the relationship between each couple.

I also love that they discuss some 'issues' like top and bottom. In the bl's that i've watched so far, the top also acts more confident and is more controling in the relationship. But in this series they say that it's just a preference. And they also teach more things (like how to throw up in a plastic bag in a car ;))

I’ve seen people disliking BohnDuen for being “boring”, but I DON’T THINK SO <3

(MAY CONTAIN SLIGHT SPOILERS!!)

So first of all, I haven’t finished the series (11/14 eps) BUT I’m having the biggest impression on BohnDuen, of course. No hate to the other couples though!! I’m the type of person who loves to watch all ‘sad’ scenes in a BL, and this was my favorite one. I also find the storyline of BohnDuen really pleasing. If you’re a person who ABSOLUTELY loves slow-paced romance + soft couple, I recommend seeing this since all the couples are really adorable and all scenes are wholesome.

Another thing, about RamKing couple. THEY ARE THE BEST COUPLE ALONG WITH BOHNDUEN !!! They are soft, adorable, understanding, healthy, I mean, I would never get bored to watch all their scenes on repeat. It’s just wonderful. I love them with all my heart. They’re both so attractive and understand each other. <3

REALLY RECOMMEND THIS SERIES IF YOU LIKED 2GETHER!! INTERESTING PLOT FOR EVERY MAIN COUPLE <3

Not that bad

Just like the title, not too bad. It’s watchable by my standard. I agreed with most reviews, KingRam is the most interesting. I skipped BohnDuen a lot after 10 episodes or so, not only because the theme is repetitive, also because it’s kinda embarrassing to watch, so awkward to see them flirt. Remaining two couples, sort of ok but I don’t like Boss. Just dislike his character in here. If you have nothing to watch and want a BL, My Engineer is ok. It seems season two will focus more on other couples than the main in season one, I’m looking forward to it.

The first episode was ok for me but as i kept watching, it just keeps getting better and better and currently Ram and king are my favourites. Love them. I just cant believe the chemistry these characters have with each other. I say kudos to the director for matching these characters perfectly. Because some of the bl series, the pairings are not well done so these characters tend to make the scenes awkward for me when I'm watching. Thats not the case with the my engineer the series, i really love to watch. Will recommend it anytime and anyday.

Surprisingly good

Am I 4 years late to the hype? Yes.
Do I care? No.

This was a drama I wasn't actually planning on watching when I first read the synopsis because it felt a little too familiar to other series I was watching at the time, like Semantic Error, 2gether, YRU?, between us etc. and I was honestly so done with college romances with potential that went nowhere.

Then a month or so ago I watched Perth's video about his experience with working on my engineer and the way he spoke so passionately about the project made me want to give it a try, because I love ma boi Perth and I thought that maybe I judged it too quickly at first.

And I did, but I also didn't!

Obviously bohnduen are the cliché couple but at the same time it is refreshing to see how forward and open bohn is about his feelings (most of the time) when most of the times this is kept intentionally ambiguous to keep the sunshine character on their toes (see 2gether, between us etc.).

I also adore how Duen also allows for Bohn to open up his heart - like they said they would do at the beginning :))) so i like that part as of now.

And of course,,,RAMKING <333 Goddamn theyre both so handsome i cannot,,,,like it is so unfair. Every time King does a hairflip I clutch my pearls. I think that the acting could've been a bit better and realistic, but it was fun to watch King yap and Ram just basically panic and black out not knwoing what to say most of the time becuase he's shy.

Overall the acting of the ensemble cast is nice, not too much, not too little and pleasant to watch. the friend groups were eqully funny to me, but i liked duen's chaotic tight knit group of freshman's a bit more.

I like the production and especially when they were at the floating market. However, idk who did the sound mixing and the sound design,,,,esp for my boy ryan'sdubs...they need to be fired bc wth happened there??? oh well, you can't have everything.
and the OST was just too overused and annoying.

I do have to be honest and say that although there are a lot of positive things to be said about my engineer, I did watch all of itin at least 1.25x speed because i otherwise just couldn't bear it. some scenes really dragged on and there was often just not a lot of interesting thing happening making me skip through episodes and only watch RAMKING scenes. And I think that is the thing about this series: it drags. And as the series progresses there were more and more scenes that made me cringe...

I think that this series could've done without the whole top/bottom shenanigans and instead give us a bit more slow burn + conflict with mr. smiley (and always more ramking!!!)

All in all, it's a seres that you can watch, and if you're doubting whether you should or should not, just give it a shot! But do it in 1.25x speed

The story was a bit too fast at first but what do we expect from a series that's based on a novel, right? But the most important part was the screen time, each couple have fair screen time and they managed to balance all four blooming relationships.

I salute each and every cast and crew of the series including the producer and the director. This is one of the best. It may look a bit too cliché but it's more than just that. The ost used were the best! The actors were good at acting and everyone seemed to have a good chemistry. I watched the casts interview and all I can say is they are really close. I love them all fairly and equally and I thank the production team and Tricreation for choosing all the actors so well. They are all perfect for their role and it makes me love them even more! I cant wait to see the season 2! This series is my favorite so far! It's fluff and funny and not so much problematic, I love it so much, I cried at the last episode. I'm so touch, they look so real! I've been rewatching the series every free time I have.

Cute and Fluffly!

Light-hearted and fluffy. At first, I thought that this series was slow and dull. I felt bored halfway through episode 2 as there was no momention, no story progression at all. I thought that the story was a bit ridiculous with plot points that don't make much sense. At times, it worked. At other times, it didn't. However, over time, I got interested in the characters, their relationships and their stories. I didn't want the series to end and hoped for a second season so that I could spend more time with the characters. I'm glad that I didn't give up on the series in the beginning.

However, there are several flaws. The acting is mediocre as none of the actors were able to emote properly. Those scenes where Duen 'cries' were so cringey. BohnDuen's relationship was too quick. They immediately liked one another a lot upon their initial encounter and are already heartbroken and 'broken up' by episode 4 and reconciled. Pretty simple. No obstacles or major conflicts in their relationship. Nothing to progress towards. And if there were obstacles, they didn't make any sense. BohnDuen lacked sweet moments as Bohn is always jealous and angry with Duen profusely apologizing for unintentionally flirting with others. Whenever they are on good terms, they just tease one another. They get annoying with their childish antics and I am so over them. Like towards the end, Bohn could have easily said that Mild kissed him and everything could have been solved, but for some weird reason, he didn't. Boss and Mek's story is decent where the gay person lusts after his 'straight' best friend and the straight best friend had always had feelings for his friend. I do hope that they will continue to be together and that Fon can't break them up. RamKing's story is pretty good as their relationship has time to grow. Their story can progress. And there is the appeal of opposites attracting, the extrovert and the introvert. However, I was actually most interested in Dr. Thara and Frong's story to be honest, I like the friction, the animosity between them. And I absolutely LOVE Thara! He's SOOOOOO CUTE and kind!!!! He literally deserves the world!!! In my opinion, the best BL relationships are born from animosity: SOTUS, Addicted and PeteKao.

On a side note, RamKing gets more attention from fans than the main couple BohnDuen, which is interesting. Usually the main couple gets the most attention and side couples also get attention too, but not as much as the main couple. I understood why though when watching the series. King immediately caught my eyes with his striking looks and beautiful hair. I can also see why Ram gets so much hype with his 'foreign' looks and his tattoos though he gives me serial killer vibes and looks like 10 years older than he actually is. And he seems out of place in his friend group, like he doesn't even interact with them or smile with them. RamKing's story is cute though, I must admit, and they do have a lot of sweet moments. I can see why people say that they are the best BL couple in the series. It's kinda weird how everyone is so obsessed and praised the fact that Ram is 'mixed-blood.' I wonder if RamKing would get this much attention if Perth (Ram) isn't part white. I don't think so to be honest. I've seen several people mention that they are among the best BL couples ever. I scoff. They are good, but definitely no where near the best.

On another side note, it sounds like Mek's voice is dubbed (if my ears are correct). At first, I thought that he had a weird voice, but only realized that it was dubbed when I saw that his lip movements didn't correspond with the voice in Episode 4. The voice doesn't seem to be coming from him as the rich, deep voice that plays sounds like someone voicing an audiobook. Searched up about this. He is dubbed because apparently his Thai isn't good. That makes no sense! Why even cast him if you're going to dub him anyways? He always sounds so weird and it takes you out of the series because it's so jarring.

Not a fan of the fat jokes and the fat-shaming though, especially how the girl was able to get the guy after losing weight at the recommendation of the guy. Ugh. Also, not a fan of the obsession with labelling a wife and a husband in a gay relationship and the femme/bottom-shaming though. I do like that they address that the top and bottom has nothing to do with appearance or personality though. Also, I didn't like that another flamboyant gay is predatory who bothers the main character, just like in 2gether. Can we have a fat and/or femme character be part of a BL couple, instead of just comic relief? That would be pretty cool!

Mixed Bag

I am so ambivalent about this series. For me, it just does not rise to the top. Remember in the old days when you had to put a key in the ignition, and you would hear the grinding before the engine started? Well this series is that. It grinds but never quite turns over. It just grinds on and on. One keeps hoping for something to happen but it does not. It is a little too sleepy for me and there is so much wasted time on silly things. . It just is not enough to have ‘cute’ characters; they have to be relatable and so far, only a few of them are.
