Another RamKing Lover
I was immediately turned off by this series due to the simplicity that is the title. I was thinking, "not another engineering plot where he's going to bully the poor dude until he realizes he's in love with him", but I was pleasantly surprised to see that that wasn't 100 percent the plot. But back to the title, I can think of a few titles that would've been better; A Rose For My Love, One Rose at A Time, Journies of Our Love. Literally, there is so much wordplay here. But, looking past the ugly that is the title, this series was so entertaining and a twist on the usual engineering stories we see.Let's Dive in.
Let's talk about the main couple first. While I was a little bored at the beginning, they slowly started to grow on me. I liked that Duen was a hard-to-get type of person. he was a challenge for Bohn, and I enjoyed watching him work to get him. I also liked how Bohn wouldn't do anything that Duen didn't want. It was a change from the usual story that ignores consent. One thing that aggravating me with them was Bohn’s overreaction to literally anything that Duen did. Can your boyfriend not exist outside of you? Can you let him breathe and talk to others without over-reacting? Bohn needed to take a huge chill pill before he lost Duen. good thing he got his act together by the end. Another nice touch was their little siblings, they had a nice connection that kind of tied Bohn and Duen together. Overall, this couple was tolerable (kind of).
RamKing stole this entire season. It was the slow-burn, it was the requited love, it was the looks, and the music, and the KISS. Absolutely loved their concept. Ram never really talked, but the eccentric King wanted to be his friend, and get him out of his comfort zone. I think it was the way that Ram never talked, and kind of only talked to King that did it for me The first time he spoke to him formally was the best thing ever. The moment and everything were just perfect. I am so excited to see them in season 2, I literally miss them every single day.
The production messed up Boss and Mek's story. The voice-over on Mek was the worst thing I ever heard. I read somewhere that they voice-covered the actor who played Mek because he was either speaking Mandrin, or his Thai pronunciation wasn't good. I'm not entirely sure of which it was, but he will no longer be in season 2. If anything, they could've just kept his actual voice and do subtitles. The voice-over was distracting and annoying. Other than that, they were pretty cute. Even though I love friends to lovers, I didn't quite love them. It felt like a bromance, or best friends rather than a couple. The chemistry between the two actors was not really there. I don't know if they're replacing Mek's actor, or just scraping his character altogether. whatever they do, I hope it's fair to Boss' actor that did an incredible job.
Loved the chemistry between Dr. Thara and Frong. I remember getting so excited each time they popped up on the screen. Would've much rather seen their plot out a whole lot more than I did Mek and Boss.
This series was saved by RamKing, it's one of the reasons that it is so high on my top 25. Other than that, this show is okay, but could use a little bit of tweaking.

I've only ever felt compelled to write a review on an ongoing series one other time (UWMA). This is going to be one of my favorite series of 2020 I can already tell. So far it is incredibly cute and I really applaud the social commentary. I'm so glad they didn't cancel the series after they had issues with unofficial channels leaking several episodes. I think that the overall plot is cute. Some worried that this and EN of Love would be essentially the same series, but EN of Love has nothing on My Engineer. They're not even remotely similar outside of the engineer/doctor coupling. EN of Love wishes it was My Engineer. But I digress... It's interesting the way they spun the secret crush trope with Duen bringing Bohn flowers as a "punishment". I didn't expect Bohn to confess to Duen as early on in the series as he did, but I liked that they didn't draw that plot point out for too long.
I've liked Cooper since My Bromance. So far I think he's done an awesome job although some of the things Bohn does really irritate me and are very reminiscent of Golf from My Bromance. It is not cute nor healthy to be that possessive over someone and it's shocking (I mean not really but you know) that Duen continually forgives Bohn for that behavior. Cooper/Poy have very cute chemistry and very believable first time love type interactions. I usually am not one of those people that prefer the secondary couple to the main couple but OMG I LOVE Ram/King!! I think they are so adorable together and King was persistent in a not creepy way. I really enjoy watching Ram slowly open up to King. Perth and Lay did an incredible job. Also Perth's English *heart eye emoji* was better than his Mom's (I know they just say foreign they don't say where she's from and there's no reason to assume English is her first language). I actually enjoy the 3 main couples and feel like their stories are well developed. I like Thara/Frong, but I feel like 3 couples is A LOT and is seldomly done well so adding a 4th couple is just doing a lot. Their couple is cute, but i don't know if it will be fully realized by the end of the season (not surprising that it wasn’t). Look I thought I was crazy at first but they really did dub the voice for Mek's character and I honestly am scratching my head. I know why they did it, but I felt like there were so many other options they could have done. It's a bit distracting to be honest. Poor Ryan because they also gave him contacts in the beginning and I just thought that they neither A. Fit his character or B. Looked natural. But overall the acting is very well done.
I was honestly put off at first by episode 9 because of their heavy fixation on who would be the seme/uke and what attributes make an uke vs a seme. BLs are notoriously problematic in this area and just when I was ready to fast forward they took the high road! IT DOESN'T MATTER. And whatever works for an individual couple is that couple's business. ROUND OF APPLAUSE FOLKS. Well Done.
Will update this after the series is over but so far 10/10 would recommend.
**Updates
It was cute through and through. The ending wasn’t anything super spectacular but i enjoyed it. I kind of figured they were going for a season 2 because the way the plot was being laid out didn’t leave room for a satisfactory resolution in that time frame. Best kiss Ram and King <3. I really love their couple. We already see the setup for the misunderstanding between Thara/Frong in season 2. It’s still at the top of my list for 2020 BL dramas. I hope season 2 goes more smoothly for the studio. I’ll be waiting.

Okay, I loved it!
I took a break from the typical Thai, university BL’s for a while... I got too saturated with the same basic story, same 5-6 cliche moments, same angsty no one speaks their mind so there’s tons of misunderstandings and petty fights.... And watched a bunch of heavy, heart wrenching BL’s for a while, so I was looking for a light, fluffy, somewhat predictable, comforting Thai BL. I found this. And I loved it!!! This is SERIOUSLY the series of side couples!! I cannot WAIT for season 2! I LOVED King and Ram, (how they helped each other start to overcome their individual fears was so heartwarming!) and Boss and Mek are sooooooo freaking adorable! I’m shipping Frong and Dr. Thara hard, too! Bohn and Duen’s relationship was cute, too. But also somewhat frustrating! Lol! Just freaking TALK to each other (Like omg, “I didn’t kiss him, he threw himself on me, and I threatened to kick his ass if he ever did it again!” not difficult to say!! It would have cleared everything up in 7 seconds! Ugh!!) And Bohn’s CRAZY, unfounded jealousy was ridiculous! But overall, it was a good series. Definitely expect the typical cliches, and “JUST SAY IT ALREADY!!!” moments, but I really liked it! It’s cute, and I’m so excited for season 2! I would definitely recommend watching this series! Was this review helpful to you?
very average
Ok im going to be very honest. DuenBohn was boring. No hate to the actors LMAO I LOVE THE ACTORS THEY WERE BRILLIANT but it felt like the story was missing something. Their chemistry was pretty good but what lacked was the story. Their story started off great but at the later episodes i found myself skipping through all their scenes. But again as i said the actors were great but the writers did a poor job for the characters. Now let's talk about Mekboss. OH MY GOD THEY WERE SO CUTE SJJSKSK. THE WHOLE "WIFE AND HUSBAND" (honestly i would have preferred "husband and husband" but ok) THING WAS SO CUTE. ah but then comes the voiceover for mek. yea wtf was that? who chose the voice actor? the voice so did not fit mek. I cringed half the time while mek spoke. Almost felt like dropping the show because of the very unrealistic voiceover. But whatever. Dealing with the bad voiceover was worth it for the mekboss endgame. Now lets talk about Ramking. They carried the entire show. Even though they arent officially together they still carried the show. This show introduced me to talay and i went and watched literally every show talay starred in. But like fr make a sequel for Ramking idc i need it. Their so soft. The kids and the dogs moment, the flower crown moment AHHHHH. I have a tendency to forget half the stuff i watch because of the amount of dramas + shows + animes i watch at once but Ramking never left my mind. Like how do i forget a couple so good? The chemistry was off charts. I mean half of their contact was just King speaking. Imagine being that great to have like literally the least lines and screentime but still managing to steal the hearts of the viewers. AHHHSHJSKSK. I dont usually do rewatches but i would totally rewatch for Ramking. In short if you're planning to watch my engineer i would totally recommend watching it for Ramking. Was this review helpful to you?
Okay, now onto the good stuff. The main reason I stayed for this show is because of Ram and King. Dear lord, these two stole my heart from their first interaction and until the very end of the show. I love the dynamic between Ram and King. They're so understanding and caring about one another. They don't rush into anything, and it's the perfect slow burn romance. They are hands down one of the best side couples in any BL show. The main reason I want to watch My Engineer 2 is because of them. I want to see their relationship progress and play out. Mek and Boss, another side couple were cute, and I did enjoy watching their scenes together.
Overall, the storyline was okay. It was a funny show which is a plus! I'm hoping in the second season they can get Bohn and Duen back to how they were at the beginning of season one. I'm also really hoping we get to learn more about Ram and see his relationship with King blossom into the beautiful couple I know they'll be!

Somehow cheated it's way into my heart
This one is honestly interesting to rate since I don’t actually know what I think of this one. If I were to rate the main couple and their story only I would give a 9 for Bohns character (and Coopers acting) a 6.5 or 7 for Duen and a 6.5 for their story. However since I’m rating this based on the entire Series I will give it an 8.5 although in my heart it might even be a 9 just because I enjoyed it so much.Let’s start off with acting: For the main characters I was absolutely convinced by Cooper’s acting as Bohn, sadly however, for my taste Poy’s acting as Duen was a little over the top from time to time... but the fact that I didn’t really connect to his character all that much may have played part in that.
The side characters all did a solid good if not great job at portraying their characters. The only thing I’ll complain about is that they chose to Dub the Chinese actor that played one of the side characters, which made it extremely hard for me to connect to him and his love interest and their story. And for me took away from the actors actual acting...
Now for the story. As for the main couple there isn’t really much to it, they are super cute up to a point, but at that point it just kind of stays flat, except for maybe the last two episodes. Duen’s character was cute at first but his original cuteness got kind of annoying in later episodes.
However, even if the main couple does not appeal to you all that much there’s still a bunch of side couples that absolutely make all of the episodes worth watching. I think this is the first time that I actually really really looked forward to especially seeing one of the side couples: Ram (Perth) and King (Talay). They absolutely got my heart in this one.
And they alone (and maybe the hope for Bohn and Duen getting a little more intimate with each other) are enough to make me happily anticipate season two.
To sum it up, altogether neither the acting nor the plot where breathtaking or far out of the ordinary (except for maybe RamKing who were actually quite extraordinary) however, the entire series was made in such a fun and entertaining way, with many cute parts and somehow still had the ability to touch me emotionally and really leave an impression.
Definitely give it a go! Maybe you’ll find to love it as much as I do!

What I DISLIKE about this show is that the storyline is very weak and common, nothing unique or new. There were instances where the characters made Stupid and very cringe worthy decisions just to put more drama into the storyline but it just made much worse. Half of the actors we’re not that good at acting and some even lack chemistry. I feel like they put this together just for the sake of making a BL series as it is very popular this year. Also they dubbed the Chinese actor’s lines to Thai which made some of his scenes weird. Would have been nice if they introduced him as a foreign exchange student instead of the weird voice over.

Anyhow, the story, performance, and cinematography needs improvement. New actors must attend workshops frequently. The actor who plays Duen cannot portray his role well nor internalize the lines with much more impact. Overall the series offered no more giddy than social relevance.

After TharnType, I didn't think it would be possible to love another BL as much... WRONG... Oh so wrong...
My Engineer captures you in the first minutes and never let's you go until the last moment, I didn't fast forward at any moment, which is Rare.
All the characters are awesome, the actors did such an amazing job, the script was really great, so enjoyable, it moved me on a series of different levels...
I didn't feel disappointed in any way... I'm so looking forward to the second season... I don't know how I'll be able to wait.
It's an awesome BL, hope everyone gives it a shot!!!
Happy drama watching!!!
Xoxo

I originally dropped this but after seeing a RamKing fan video on YouTube I decided to pick it back up again. Naturally they became my favorite couple of the series; I could watch an entire season of RamKing and not complain.[ BohnDuen ] - The main couple but maybe my least favorite. I just didn't really care for them. They're cute, but Bohn's jealousy and cat/mouse games got old quick. It felt manipulative - Duen would do something that Bohn misunderstood, then Bohn would get mad, then after Duen apologized Bohn would forgive Duen but not tell him and continue to play mad so that Duen felt worse and continued to beg for Bohn's forgiveness. This happened in nearly every single episode. I would understand if Bohn's insecurities stemmed from a fear that Duen might want to date a woman (which is a common cause for jealousy in a lot of BL dramas), but all of Bohn's jealousy was directed at men that really didn't even express interest in Duen (except for the one but even that had faded by the time him and Bohn were together). Long story short - if this drama was ONLY about BohnDuen then I would've dropped it and not continued.
[ MekBoss ] - I really liked the relationship that developed between Mek and Boss. It makes me sad that Mek's actor is most likely not coming back for season 2, but I'd also really love an actor that can speak Thai so they don't have to dub someone. That was the only uncomfortable thing about their relationship for me... But I really loved the way that Boss so proudly announced his relationship with Mek at the end. I'm excited to see what season 2 holds for this couple because I think it'll be fun watching them navigate going from friends to lovers. I love friends to lovers relationships so I'm excited!
[ TharaFrong ] - I didn't actually see this one coming but it's a cute couple. The ending though... "brother." Ugh. Poor Frong. I'm really interested to see where this one goes because it sounds like it could take some time to develop just based on Thara's words in the final episode. I'm just glad that Frong moved on from Duen and doesn't have to be used as some kind of weird plot device for BohnDuen drama (at least more than he already has).
And finally on to my kings...
[ RamKing ] - Honestly the only reason I returned to watch the show. I was bored in the first few episodes but I loved Ram IMMEDIATELY, and I absolutely adore King with all of my being. I love my little plant and dog boys. I want them to fall in love and just be together forever and live somewhere with a bunch of dogs and plants and quiet. Their scenes were so good and the development of their relationship is probably the most wholesome of all the couples. King really had to work to earn Ram's trust and is clearly one of very few people that understands him. I'm a sucker for relationships that aren't easy or immediate, so while it was a bummer to leave RamKing's ending "open," I'm also really glad that they chose to do that. It gives me something to really look forward to with Season 2 because I can't wait to see how their relationship further develops now that King has confessed.
CAST/ACTING - I really love the cast! There's a lot of chemistry between all of them and the acting was great. I'm looking forward to seeing how they all improve by Season 2.
STORY - The story is fairly straightforward. It's mostly character driven so there isn't much of a "plot" going on outside of the relationship developments. But I never mind series like that because I think character development - if done well - can be plot enough.
All in all, I'm really glad I decided to finish watching this and didn't just drop it without continuing. The first few episodes were hard to get through, but I'm glad I stuck around (even if it was just for RamKing). I've followed all of the actors on Instagram and I really recommend following Perth's YouTube channel! He speaks English, Thai, and Japanese fluently; it's really impressive and I appreciate his hard work to touch 3 groups of international fans.

I will start by saying that the only reason i kept watching this was because of RamKing and TharaFrong. They were the only interesting couples for me.
I didn't like the main couple (DuenBohn) because i felt like they were way too childish and lacked communication. It was frustrating to watch them.
I also didn't find MekBoss interesting. i skipped most of their parts so i can't even say much because i don't remember.
RamKing deserve to be the main couple!! their chemistry was amazing and i love how Ram is a more quiet, serious and tsundere type while King is the more joyful and loud type, they just work so well together.
I loved TharaFrong a lot as well, probably because i'm a sucker for enemies to lovers kind of romance lol
They were very entertaining to watch, and hopefully their relationship will develop further in season 2.
I just hope that season 2 will show more progression of the couples, especially RamKing and TharaFrong.
(btw no hate to any of the actors!!)
