6.0/10 - Not 100% there with the mistaken betrayal.

Mmmmmmmm. The basis for his supposed betrayal is very thin. In fact, it's a bit unbelievable. She thinks that he will do anything for her. Then bam! He's using her to get the sword? Nah.

Though maybe the shock of dying muddled her up. To be honest I'm in a bit of shock too with her death! For my beloved Zhao Yao to go out that way. She must of really forgotten how much Mo Qing liked her and how compassionate he was. Though this did answer my question about his fight skills. Which I hope grew more for him to be the new sect leader. After all he was week when Zhao Yao died.

I truly love the fast pace of The Legends. Which is something C-dramas apparently do well for their Wuxia. What I don't like is that the director—writer or both of them—really like to rely on flashbacks. The issue is they're too long and stuff we have seen in the current episode! I mean it's annoying to see it from the previous episodes, but the current one! Yikes! It really drags down the pacing and story.

There's also the sloppy quality around a murder that happened five years ago. I murder that was super out of place and to now just be addressing it five years later! WTF! It's odd and out of place. The weird seal around Liu Su Ruo's brother's neck—I assume that's who the guy was—means he's possessed or playing with "evil" magic. It seemed to me like Qin Yu was murdered, but that's up in the air. Not to mention that Qin Yu's daughter just popped up out of no where. (The cast page is not helping me keep the names straight and they're to new for me to catch on yet. Not to mention the pictures are super hard to match. Over photo editing and makeup is a curse!)

Either way this is a bit of a jumbled mess. Though I think I get what they're trying to setup. If you're a long time Epic/High fantasy reader I think you'll be able to flow with the unflowing story. If you're not it might seem really jumbled to a point where viewers might not be able to follow. It is after all the rush to setup the real story. Which is something I'm starting to become accustomed to with fantasy Wuxia.

As mentioned above it killed me to see Zhao Yao go out like that. Though I did see in her internal voice as she figured out how to use Mo Qing that may have become a bit . . . bad. I'm not saying she's evil, but she was cruelly calculating with how Mo Qing feels about her. That said my girl Zhao Yao is still awesome! When the ice broke and she broke out I cheered. I suppose the synopsis only spoiled the beginning of how this drama is going to go.
