Even though lots of things are happening the movie manages to give every aspects enough room and time to manifest in front of our eyes. The story cast light on the guardians and doesn't waste time on things that were already established in the first movie.
All the cast are skilled in their craft and manage to conveye the emotiongs to the audience. Their acting works both in the funny and sad moments of the movie.
The production value, the costumes and the sets are fitting and the CGI is great in creating the fantasy world. While I was at parts overwhelmed by some stylistic choices and the fast pace in the first movie, here I truly enjoyed them.
While I truly enjoyed the story and also the superb acting that made those character come to life, I wonder how this movie appears to people who haven't seen the first installment. Therefore my overall rating is 9.5.

In this instalment you will learn all about the guardians and where they came from. They tied everything in perfectly and the visuals were just as great as the first. Acting was superb and like the first one you will laugh and cry sometimes simultaneously.
A must watch and would rewatch without a second thought.

Although this movie didn’t make me cry at the last scenes, this movie is still way more epic than the first one. But in order to understand this movie, you need to watch the whole sequel. At the last parts, it was shown that D.O. or Won Dong Yeon is going to be the next mission for the trio and I’m super excited for it! Kim Hyang Gi having more scenes with D.O. is going to be something I really look forward to! ❤️
To sum up everything, I think this movie could be the one when you really want some fantasy realness and some historical-with-some-really-cool-action scenes! Great job to all the casts and directors! A 9.5/10 for sure ⭐️

Everything in the story is connected, each moment and each character is linked. We don't care about anything until the film gives us the information and that's what made the film amazing.
The actors all play very well. The music is also great, it puts us in the mood of the film.
Regarding the special effects, they are pretty well done. Sometimes we can notice that it is badly done, but I think that is not very disturbing.
In short I think that this film was much better than the first because everything makes sense and the story is much more developed.

Guiding another paragon, Kim Su Hong into the afterlife is just a side story here. It's about the much awaited back story of our 3 grim reapers, and it didn't disappoint. Didn't disappoint to tug at my heartstrings, that is.
Honestly before that last third of the movie, I thought ok this is still a good fun fantasy movie, but it doesn't quite capture the wonder of that first movie, the magic of going into this world as a newbie, meeting all these grim reapers, unforgiving gods, and lost souls.
To be frank, Kim Su Hong is quite annoying, and probably one of the last people you want to be rooting for. While the other part of the movie, was about 3 powerful beings figuring out how to get a mortal kid adopted, and Jurassic Park dinosaurs?
Before I realize it, the movie got to me, so be prepared to have the Kleenex ready. I love how the tale of our reapers tackles war, compassion, race, acceptance, repentance, and forgiveness. All in all, I adore this series (awesome acting and great cameos) , and I can't wait for more!

Took me a while to get to watch this continuation after Two Worlds, but I finally managed to do it now. And I have to say that it's amazing. The movie picked up after the loose ends left from Two Worlds, after Jahong was ascended and then the fate of his dead brother remained to be seen. For a second I had to wonder what was the connection with the other assignment given to Ganglim and his team aside from the matter regarding Kim Suhong but it turned out that everything still connected in an intricate way! It's really amazing, the writing that is.
We get to find out more about Ganglim, Hewonmaek and Dukcheon's past lives and how it turned out that it wasn't a coincidence that the trio was paired together. We also get to find out the circumstances of their deaths and how it leads the trio to become grim reapers and having to guide the souls of the dead in order to absolve their sins and allow them to reincarnate. And it turned out, the complicated circumstances of Ganglim's past life had also a connection with Kim Suhong's judgement. Loved the amazing writing, and how much the story in Two World and The Last 49 days seamlessly interconnected. It felt like it was also no coincidence that Ganglim's team was assigned to handle Kim Jahong's case and later on with Kim Suhong.
That aside, I have to say that the final reveal about King Yeomra just add the final touch on how the writing of everything been done well. It explained a lot on why King Yeomra have had quite a lot of interest in Ganglim in particular and why they seem to have a special relationship.
I really enjoyed the movie throughout. And while the movie's serious plot had been engaging enough, I love the fact that the comedy in between was still so amusing. Had to say that Ganglim, Hewonmaek and Dukcheon really had grown on me.

More Of a Warning Than Review
This warning is for my fellow English speakers/readers. If English is not the primary language you use while viewing subs, then you probably should go read one of the other reviews. The subs are poor. Forget for a minute about the poor grammar, incorrect pronouns (often males are called she and females, he..confused the heck out of me at first), incorrect or odd words that spring up randomly (the Guavaberry Forrest, 'let's guavaberry,' the guavaberry,' '..enough circumcision.' Is guava berry the Indonesian equivalent of thingamajig?), etc. I just mentioned Indonesia. Let me explain why. Every so often a word would come up that isn't translated and it's not a proper noun. At first I thought it was supposed some afterlife language, then jibberish because I knew it wasn't Korean. I started to believe that the fansubber was not fluent in neither Korean nor English. Then it hit me. They translated the subs that were in a different language (still doesn't explain the poor English but it was something). I tested my theory when I had had enough of not quite knowing what was being said. A full untranslated sentence came on screen. Using a free service, I typed it in and it came up as Indonesian. et viola! Like I said it doesn't explain the poor English, but at least I know I'm not nuts. Most Indonesians I know speak English much better than the subs read. I'm inclined to believe the person who did the subs doesn't speak either language or is at least illiterate in one. 99% of the subs are in English, but you will find yourself needing to decipher the meaning. So, consider yourself warned. And should you decide to watch the movie may you be blessed with better subs. Good luck.
Now, a quick review. The CGI, makeup, costumes, and sets are ridiculously good. The acting is what you would expect from a cast that boast names like Don Lee (Ma Dong Suk), Lee Jung Jae, and Sung Dong Il. The only thing that could have used some work is probably the writing. As a continuation of Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds, the story seems repetitive mostly. There are big reveals as one would expect in a sequel, but not enough meat on it's bones to fill the almost 2.5 hours film length. Even with the crappy subs, I did enjoy watching The Last 49 Days just not as much as the original.

About this
Very soulful history. Actor play the main characters is at a high level. The entire series empathized with the main character. One of my favorite projects. There are plans to revise. In the breaks of the game at the https://casinoscroll.com/ , I watched most of the episodes. I recommend to all fans of the genre! If someone can, advise such works. In general, the cinema of the Middle Kingdom stands out for its charm...........Now with my husband we are in search of a new film.................. After viewing this work, there remains a sweet aftertaste, the main character, like the heroine, is very sympathetic to me.

Other than that, the performances were really well by all the actors in the film and they actually looked natural. The special effects in addition, were decent and enjoyable.
So, 7.5 out of 10, because it was a good movie, but it could have been better.

We've got explanations for some plot lines introduced in the first movie, and in their place new questions have been asked. The progression of the story makes sense and the connection between the two installments truly makes them feel like two pieces of a larger story. While The Two Worlds focused more on the humans, The Last 49 Days explained the background of the gods' realm and the three main reapers.
Duk Choon yet again won me over with her personality and goodness, but this time I actually got drawn to Won Maek more. The story of their past life was extremely well presented and written. Sadly, while the first movie centered around one character and his life, it was easier for me to connect to the story and feel the emotional impact they tried to deliver, here we’ve got the storytelling split among few characters... Which for me made a huge difference and I was not as emotionally connected as I wished I could.
That said, we can clearly see that the history told in both movies was clearly planned, before the first movie became a success. It's obvious that The Last 49 Days is not a cheap way of just making more money with a random script loosely connected to the original movie.
The acting, cinematography, music, costumes and special effects were amazing, there is nothing to complain about. They aced the job with visual storytelling. With that, I cannot wait for the next movie to come out.

I LOVED THIS SO MUCH!!!
WOW! I did not expect to like this as much as I did! Honestly liked it better than the first movie, which is not common for me and sequels. In my opinion, the many twists and turns of fate of many of the characters here put me on the edge of my seat and I was constantly amazed by each and every one of them. It was interesting to see that this focused mostly on the lives of the guardians, and that definitely quenched my curiosity about their origins. I want to know more about the mechanics of how 'hell' works really, and what else the production has up their sleeve for the next two movies. I can't wait!!(Sidenote: Ju Ji Hoon in suspenders was so h*t.)

The story line is very well done and as I expected the second paragon (Kim Soo Hong) is definitely more intelligent and interesting. I like the way he approached his trial, the actions and questions he asked to push the guard Kang Rim to free himself from his past throughout their journey. And Joo Ji Hoon as Hae Won Maek is refreshing, I like the duality between the warrior and the man even 1000 years later. I didn't know Kim Hyang Gi as an actress but she is stunning as Lee Deok Choon, she is the face of innocence with a tigress inside her.
I will also add that the CGI is very well done, it feels so good to my eyes, the fight scenes are very well orchestrated, Goreyo here I come.
At the end, I had my answer on who these guardians were and considering their links the 3rd and 4th part of this movie will have to be epic.
If I had to describe this film: the path to redemption (without religious connotations)
