"Tie Xi Qu: West of the Tracks" is nine hours long, the film consists of three parts: "Rust," "Remnants" and "Rails." It's difficult to resume but the main theme is a detail exploration of the slow decline of Shenyang's industrial Tiexi district, which was once a vibrant example of China's socialist economy.

It narrates the daily life of several young people moving from the countryside to work at Beijing World Park, where you can witness life-size replicas of wonders from across the world. The park represent China’s desires and ongoing process of becoming a new global center.
