both set in the same time period and about chinese opera. tragedy lurks in the shadows, but the censorship hatchet cut every controversial theme
They are both Chinese bromance series. Both portray a beautiful relationship between the main leads.
The Bromance is on a high level and I they are both historical dramas. They also are about friendship and loyalty.
If you enjoyed Killer & Healer, you’ll really enjoy Winter Begonia! Down to the details: I felt K&H had a more beautiful cast, but hands down, Huang Xiaoming was soooo handsome in WB, & the production was 10/10! Costume and scenery was impeccable. The relationship between the two main characters was much more vivid in K&H. Both really great dramas and cheers to China for pushing the boundaries on these BL dramas!
Police officer Pang Hong Mei amid the many obstacles created by U.S. and Jiang spy agents, rescued Ji Danyang, a patriotic scientist who returned from the United States from the enemy spy. She accompanied Ji Danyang to Lumen City to participate in the "Water Drop Project". Enemy special forces formulated a sabotage plan codenamed "Operation Rock" and concentrated their forces and tried to destroy the "Water Drop Project." Pang Hongmei and Ji Dan Yang fought a life-and-death battle with enemy agents in Lumen, thwarted the enemy's conspiracy, protected the "Water Drop Project" and finally achieved the expected success. The couple who went through the test of life and death, also realized their dreams and firm ideals.
While Winter Begonia is a chiller, somewhat more serious show than Granting You a Dreamlike Life, and less focused on romance (as its central romance is censored to bromance), both shows center on a relationship between a great opera performer and a shady rich dude, are set in the 1930s, and have a certain level of petty melodrama.
