The supporting roles are great. Techno is good laugh and really shows the kind of warm friendship that we all deserve. Another supporting role that is really great is Thorn who shows an amazing support role as a brother.
Personally I am whipped for Type but I loved the fact that both the main leads are not the soft, fragile kind of character but are both masculine and strong and independent. Loved how they showed the dynamics of how their relationship is when they're in public and when they're in private.

Type is always a bold guy ,never had a fear except the one that is his past which revealed when tharn came to his life who also shown a bold character had no fear of anything except his heart when he is in love ,his love became his weakness as well as his fear of losing his love.
Drama is good but last two episodes was the best one tharn and type acting was good .Tharn's brother part also Good .The one who always with type's...Thumps up to drama.

The acting was freaking good! The storyline however was a little disappointing. I did think the acting and music made up for it though! There were cute moments in it too which I adored. (And sexy moments ;))
Some characters were really fucked up (on another level), but the show entirely was very entertaining to watch.
If you're a BL fan, this is a good drama to watch.
Don't be too judgemental about the drama and the characters though because some characters have seriously mental issues and you need to be able to see the story from their perspective.

Okay so I have watched a lot of bl series. Maybe not all of them obsessively but more or less all the popular ones. My first bl series was History : Trapped and right after I started watching TharnType while it was airing. So needless to say my expectations were really high. History Trapped sets a standard and TharnType was my first thai bl I didn't know what to expect.
Lets start with acting. Gulf in the first few episodes looked a bit uncomfortable and his acting was a bit cringe and overdramatic. Gradually that decreased and in the last few episodes his acting was organic and raw. Mew is amazing and has been from the start. Mild is the funniest and has a great comic timing.
But the first episode man. I just can't get over how they portrayed it or how it was. It was sexual assualt. But after that as I've read the novel Type is pretty much horny for Tharn and doesn't know how to deal with his sexuality. I think the fact that Gulf was interested even after being 'homophobic' wasn't really clear in the episodes after the first one. So that obviously came out that Type didn't consent but in reality in his mind he did.
The songs, the acoustic versions, the lyrics are all phenomenal. Overall in the end, I enjoyed TharnType the series and do hope they get a second season.

I had a problem with the main character because of the way they wrote the story and then skipped to something that doesnt make sense to me. I love the couple besides that. The show was kinda cringy sometimes and the characters emotions in some parts were overdone but still i see why its everyones favorite because the story is really interesting and those guys were soooooo fine like , a good amount of fan service, can't wait for season 2 , i hope its good.

Overall, it was a good series but a bit painful to watch. Consent is sexy as they say. If this was prevalent in the series it would give it perfect score.

Watching this in 2024 is not worth it.
"TharnType: The Series" garnered acclaim during its release year; however, revisiting it in 2024 reveals a somewhat disappointing experience. Perhaps the series' reception was influenced by the demographic and the state of BL genre development in 2019, which may have been less mature compared to later years. The casting and storyline, while adequate, fail to leave a lasting impression, lacking the depth necessary to captivate viewers who have since been exposed to more refined offerings within the genre. Despite its initial acclaim, the series falls short in providing substantial character development beyond surface-level exploration, particularly in its handling of conflicts and narrative pacing.
Furthermore, the editing issues and excessive focus on intimate scenes detract from the overall viewing experience, making it difficult for the series to strike a balance between romantic elements and a cohesive storyline. While "TharnType: The Series" may have resonated with audiences in its time, it ultimately struggles to hold up to the evolving standards of the BL genre, leaving much to be desired for viewers seeking a more nuanced and engaging narrative.

1st Reason: The plot/storyline of the series is seemingly realistic which targeted the mainstream modern era of society, where the LGBTQ (especially gays) are still ridiculed by homophobic persons. It tackled some of society's real issues on how the gay community must pave their way to gain full trust and acceptance to those people around them. It was amazing how the writers made a punch in delivering this plot to the audiences wherein they will understand better the LGBTQ community.
2nd Reason: The portrayal of the emotions given by each actor of the series is commendable. The conflicts of emotion on how a straight man finally overcame and accepted a proud gay man was dynamic. I was appalled by the fact the series showed that there may be cases wherein straight people don't need to be "gay" in order to fall in love with gay people. Simply overwhelming.
3rd Reason: I was in awe knowing that there are straight people who're willing to be bottom. O_O
4th Reason: The elements of the story are almost seemingly perfect.
5th Reason: If for any reason you don't want to try to watch this and choose to ignore, then be my guest. I can say that you're already missing half of your lifetime.
Simply, PERFECTION! I cannot wait to have the TharnType 2, that's why I need to survive this global pandemic. Love from the Philippines! - SNP

Ok. So the non-con aspect of this show really squicked me. Where Tharn comes onto Type when he knows Type hates gay people, and he keeps pushing that line. Type crossing the line with Tharn's personal stuff also was problematic for me, but I know stuff like that really does happen when it comes to roommate conflicts, even when they aren't about such personal issues. But Tharn giving drunk Type hickeys and then forcing a BJ on Type in the bathroom was bad. Especially after he's witnessed Type's Trauma and Nightmares. Some of Gulf's expressions are weird. Like when he's at the bar (especially in the 2nd special) listening to the band play. But I actually love what Gulf brings to Type, that he gives Type a harsh accent and abrasiveness.
I like that Type doesn't take shit from anyone. I like that he's a bossy bottom. I hate possessiveness but somehow I like it on Type. But I don't like that he hits Tharn. That really annoyed me. I mean I get that it was alluded to they were a little into pain play, but I'm pretty sure Tharn did consent to being kicked in the nuts of punched or slapped just because Type was jealous. If that happened to a female, it would be partnership violence, so that same goes for a male partner. There are ways he could have expressed it without being abusive towards Tharn, I feel. IDK. Maybe I'm being too pedantic. IDK.
I like Tharn, for the most part. Apart from the non-con in the beginning. I love that he's a monogamist - that he puts all his eggs in that one basket. I love that about him. Also, he cries so pretty (that scene from the intro when he's all red eyed and nosed and hugging type from the back because of reason that are spoilery). I don't know why they put so much make up on Mew though. I get that they were trying to make him look younger, but they just made him look so cakey because of it. They should have just let him be. He's gorgeous as it is and some guys look older. It's a thing.
Techno. I LOVE THIS TECHNO. He is ADORABLE! I Also love this Champ.
Tum - This Tum was HOT like BURNING! That smoldering glare he gave Tharn in Episode 1. *shivers down my spine*. I didn't know their history. I totally thought they were gonna have a go at each other in the bathroom at school. hahaha.
Overall, I really enjoyed this series. The chemistry between Mew and Gulf is amazing. And they are really beautiful together. The story was interesting. I enjoyed the time skip as well - and finding Type more comfortable in his own skin. I look forward to the second series.
I really liked the title track. It is so catchy (even if the lyrics are a little sketchy). I also like the song Tharn sings to Type in the final episode. <3
