Another heartwarming show where the main themes revolve around food, sharing, community and acceptance.

Although the premise is different, both are extremely heartwarming and depict a healthy, non-toxic relationship between a cold, aloof male and a more outgoing, eccentric male.

Both are Japanese BLs with a slice of life feel, centering around a couple, one of whom is a good cook and the other of whom goes to work all day, then comes home to relax with the other's cooking.

Centered on the relationship between two men in their 40s, it deals with elements concerning the lgbtq+ landscape in Japan as well as provides a soft, heartwarming setup that ultimately makes it super pleasant to enjoy.

both dramas give off a warm vibes, which makes them easy to watch & enjoy

if you liked the cooking element in ingredients then kinou nani tabeta is similar in that sense as both dramas have a focus on food and how one of the leads cooks for the other/has a passion for cooking

the major differences is that kinou nani tabeta the relationship is already established (whereas ingredients is more of a slow burn romance) and focuses on an older couple but it's still very much enjoyable

they both portray passion of cooking with beautiful recips, peaceful musics and loveable characters.. Jewel in the Palace is a period drama and Kinou Nani Tabeta is a modern drama but i think they're not that different from each other

Office people love to speak about how charming, talented and handsome main lead of both if the show in the beginning of the series. Two characters of main lead in these shows are similar, i can say that. Also, they're both bl series which can show you life struggles and mature love

- Season 1 of the show
- Sets up the special, movie and season 2
- Almost all characters from season 1 return for the sequels

Call it odd, but these two japanese BL dramas both display very unhealthy relationships bogged down intense insecurities. Over the course of the dramas and their sequels, we get to watch the slow character development of the leads and, as a result, their relationships with each other. In both, the leads live together and find it difficult to confess their relationship to others - which causes tension in their relationship.
