Waste of the cast
When I first heard about the movie, I was pretty thrilled to see all of these actors in one place. Despite that, one of my favourite genres is horror. As a result, I was even more excited to watch it. However, I admit, my excitement was for nothing.I can't even explain how much potential this movie had/has. It has an excellent cast, an exciting story. Yet, the results were more than disappointing for me. Since the start of the movie, I had no idea what and why was happening. I had to go through some comments and reviews so I can understand what was happening. I feel like the writing was not it; They should've hired another writer.
Despite how boring the movie was, all of the actors did an excellent performance. I couldn't take my eyes off just because of them. I wish to see Kim Yoo Jung and Nam Da Reum working together again but in worth production.
Summary: I must say I do not recommend this movie. I believe that there are people who might like the movie. Nevertheless, this wasn't for me. According to me, this year's Netflix movies were kind of disappointing. I hope to see better productions by Netflix in the time!
Note: I am not trying to bash the hard work of the people who tried their best to make the movie. The review is based on my experience while watching the movie. Also, I apologize if any grammar mistakes appeared, English is not my first language :)

a great thriller.
cast was amazing. their performance was amazing, and i couldn’t help but to wish they would be in another movie together already. this was overall a great thriller and will be watching again. it was scary enough to scare me! but not over the top like most movies can be. it was great. definitely recommend this to whoever loves to watch thrillers and likes to be scared, or if you’re into demon type movies/spiritual movies. this one is the one to watch. you’ll definitely fall in love with the younger actors acting. he was a beautiful character. Was this review helpful to you?
boredom to no end
when i first saw the trailer, i was really excited to watch this movie, i thought "wow, this looks promising". Google the actors, i thought "wow, these are good actors". So i get my hopes kinda high. Make time to watch it as soon as i possibly can. Well, what a disappointment. The story is so flat. What you see in the trailer is everything with a little bit of suspense in it, all the other scenes are just bleh. This is not a horror movie, it's a drama, and a boring one too. So boring that i kinda almost fell asleep so many times, i really had to force my self to finish it. Give it a try if you want to support the actors, but don't expect this to be a horror story. Was this review helpful to you?
The 8th Night has this simplistic, sharp, cold, grainy texture to it, which you’ll either like or dislike. At times it might even feel borderline cartoonish or gimmicky. The directing and editing style does not fit my preferences, hence I did not connect well with what was happening on screen. It seems to cater to a specific type of audience, and for those who like this type of styling, it will for sure be an interesting and entertaining ride.
The opening narration serves as an exposition, but crosses the line of telling us the general plot of what’s to happen. Later, as we follow the main characters, the story gets expanded and the details are added.
Surprisingly, I chuckled a few times as I was watching. Some scenes were clearly intended to be funny, some were unintentionally hilarious. I might be desensitized to horror, which leads me to have rather unexpected reactions to scary or disturbing scenes, so keep that in mind.
Even though it was a miss for me, I have to appreciate the fact they stuck to the vision and ideas they had, without trying to please everyone.

INTERESTING & MIND BENDING MOVIE (Great spoilers ahead)
Great movie. Require some brain cells to understand it?MAIN CHARACTERS:
Cheong seok(Ml lead)
Ae ran(Fl lead/Red maid)
Seon hwa(Monk)
Dong jin(cop)
STORY:
The story starts with a man telling a story of Buddha and demon's eyes that Buddha seperated those eyes(black and red) from each other one in east and one in west.In movie one is present in Desert ?️ and other was present in a temple under protection of Monks where Cheong seok(Ml lead)was present at start of movie. These eyes were seperated by Buddha but they can again meet in future and cause disasters on earth. There is procedure of awakening of eyes and meeting again which is 7 stepping stone. Then a archaeologist trying to prove that, this Legend is true and the eye that was hidden in the desert?️ (the red one), he found it. He told the people that what I said to you was really true. Look i found it but no one believes him.He wants to prove it desperately. So He used blood of seven people for awakening red eye. After awakening, the red eye have to pass 7 stepping stones to reach the black eye.
The monks didn't know the all stepping stones among 7 except last one which is VIRGIN SHAMAN. They wanted to kill her so that both eyes can't meet and prevent disaster .
Seon Hwa(monk) And Cheong Seok(ml Lead):
Cheong seok was sent to seon hwa by the monk present at temple to inform him that Demon is coming. Cheong seok said to him (seon hwa) that he seems fimiliar to him he don't know the reason but yes he met him at funeral of her mom.His mom cause car accident because she was drunken. During this accident, two people died which is the family of Seon Hwa(monk) his daughter and wife. Cheong seok's mom was given sentence. But seon hwa was not happy why she was not given life sentence so he cause disturbance in court which the detective mention. But Cheong's mother could not get through the guilt and commit suicide and asked Seon hwa to protect her child but he wanted to kill him as payback but couldn't do so. Then, he left the temple and started working at construction sites. When he left the temple the duty was given to him to guard Sarira casket transferred to Cheong seok.
7 STEPPING STONES & Dong jin:
The blood used are of people who tried to commit suicide but survived. The eye moves from person to other by hiding in their bodies by recognizing the smell of blood (The eye can smell the blood of all 7 people because it was used in its awakening)and reaches the door of VIRGIN SHAMAN but she use the blood of dong jin(cop) as alternate of her when he came to her for talisman as he was not the part of stepping stones but red eye used him as last step when Shaman was not present there at 8th day (demon has limited time of 8 days). Dong jin also once tried to commit suicide that's way the eye find him suitable.
Ae ran:
So many of viewers were confused what the role of Fl lead exactly i was also confused. it's difficult part?.
So, the role of Ae ran was guarding the Virgin shaman so she can't run away anywhere. As we know she was abused by others so one day a man adopted her. Yes that man was archaeologist who started all of these. Her foster father. He said he needs someone to sacrifice, so she agree because he saved her from the abusers. She sacrificed her and became the maid of demon and started to serve him by chasing Virgin shaman. But with the passage of time she became close with shaman and she told her that she can saved her from the eye and she told her the way which was the using of dong jin's blood.
As she was maid of demon so at the last of movie when demon ordered her and she take the jacket off from cheong seok which he was wearing for his protection.
Hope u like it?

Interesting
The story is overall amazing and I feel like I can compare this movie to forgotten a little because it has this twist in it that you wouldn’t expect. The beginning of the story ties to the ending. It starts off with the old man freeing the red eye and then it shows how the body looks once they’re dead. The trailer goes on and shows multiple scenes of them trying to kill it. It also shows the girl and how the boy is running away with her and you can tell he just wanted to help and in fact I’m not sure if he did or not…. To be honest I’m just bluffing. I really have nothing else to say expect that it all ties up in the end.

the writing is a 0
I thought based on the 1st scene this would be scary but I was disappointed.. it wasn't even gory it was eyeroll worthy..Lee Sung Min is an amazing actor and his scenes with Nam Da Reum were sweet and touching, but that was mainly just based on their acting, the writer/director gave them nothing to work with.. actors need their dialog...
I'm also disappointed at productions labeling anyone a lead. a main lead is someone with a backstory, emotions, thoughts and personality.
the detective was just someone after a killer, he didn't even have common sense. Ae Ran was suddenly revealed to be a ghost they didn't let her show her torment and Cheong Seok though he had the most scenes but again not much personality is labeled as lower in "ranks". when in reality calling Park Jin Soo a main is pushing it.
I wish atleast the characters had more substance!. these days the writers' think "tragic past/connection" is the key for emotinal scenes but it still needs a development for it to work! 10 x 0 is still a 0
for almost an hour and a half no one really talked or even did anything, they just walked, went to eat then walked... and don't get me started on the horror! I can't take horror and I even laughed at a couple of those scenes, creepy eyes and dark clouds are scary.. there was no thrill, no action.. honestly the ending too, they tried to pretend they were "saving" the characters from their torments but it was just another scene..

Whether you like this or not depends entirely on you-
I really like it. Sure, I get what people are talking about. The plot was superficial and something seen before, but this had a way more realistic feel than other similar ones.
The way the actors portrayed their characters and the way the characters themselves behaved (or were written to behave?) was believable.
I mean, if this was possible and happened in real life, I do think the good guys would enjoy the small moments in between the whole saving the world adventure. Things most of the time would not go the way they planned. And they would have to bloody their hands a bit too. The fact that this was slow-paced and happened within a week or two only made this all the more enjoyable, at least for me.
Also loved the fact that there wasn't that much dialogue between a few of the characters.
Seon Hwa (Lee Sung Min), Cheong Seok (Nam Da Reum) & Ae Ran (Kim Yoo Jung)
There were a few plot twist I DID NOT see coming which is rare for someone that has seen as many shows as I have. I'm really glad I stumbled upon this small gem.
If you want to watch action or thriller then maybe save this for another day, but if you're just bored or wish to kick back and relax, then sure, push play and snack on some popcorn.

Nan Da Reum, Lee Sung Min, and Kim Yoo Jung shined with their eye contact acting without words
People are looking this the wrong way.this is a good horror movie because it doesn't count on jump scares and it's not even scary.
For me, it's more of a religious action movie with slice of life and comedy.
Nan Dareum made me laugh too many times, perfect chemistry with Lee Sung Min and Kim Yoo Jung.
3 of them mastered silent acting.
Nan Dareum and Kim Yoo Jung are probably the only actors who can pull the innocent role.
Perfect ending shot with Kim Yoo Jung.
As a Buddhist, that's the main goal, to be free of suffering and reach Nirvana, and the movie portrayed it perfectly in the finale, on the 3 characters.
Plot twist is a genius. This feels like western action movie, unlike standard Korean movies with fillers.
The only boring parts? as usual, the murder mysteries the detective parts. Because we have seen too many of that in Korean Dramas. POLICE ARE BORING, we don't care.
Venom, Infinity War, Suicide Squad? Many of the scenes reminded me of that.
I am definitely more satisfied with this movie than 20th Century Girl, because the plot is engaging and the ending is perfect.
This is a meaningful horror / religious movie. Will always rewatch, perfect to watch with family.

I don't even know what I've just watched
I want to start this review by saying that I am not really a fan of horror/demon slaying movie or drama. I do watch few whenever I need something different from my usual genres. What I say in this is purely my opinion.First of all, I do get the logic about the legend of the eyes but that's all about it. I didn't understand what's the story even trying to say.
Why are there police? Why is the archaeologist obsessed about the legend? There were lots of things that doesn't makes sense. Don't get me wrong though because I am not sure whether it's because it's not really a genre I am used to watching. People who loves horror and thriller might like this, I am not so sure.
The only good thing I see on this movie are the familiar faces and the sound effects that were decent enough to make an eerie vibes throughout the movie. I just literally pushed myself to finish it just because I started it anyway and a slight hope that the ending will somehow give justice to the movie. Unfortunately, that's not the case. If you want to watch it then you can and if you find this movie enjoyable, please leave a comment or start a thread to let us know which part you enjoyed as we might have missed it along the movie.

Worth watching for me.
Whatever the story was I really liked it. I loved the casting. Especially the young actors they were so good. It was my first time watching a Korean Movie. And also my first time writing a review. All i can say don't expect anything just watch it. Give it a try.I really don't rewatch any series or anything I watch. So yeah.
In the end I really got anxious. But the ending was good.
Overall it's worth watching. I've watched a lot English horor movie. According to those obviously it's good. I decided to write a review cos I saw a lot of negative review. It's not bad. I can say a simple horor/ thriller movie with a potential cast.

NO This ain't that boring a movie
Well I was never quite in this genre. I have always been on the soft genre side. So people watching this might be a hardcore horror and thriller lover, so it can seem not so interesting for them. But it has enough potential to make you think about life twice. The scary scenes were not too wild but quite decently creepy. And the storyline.. It has a great depth for the viewers to imagine how they would comprehend the not so detailed plot. Many people are complaining why Ae ran's character was involved. I felt it was important to show the character interface of Cheong Seok. Also the plot keeps you engaged and once you miss a spot, you feel missed out and thats when you start that the movie isnt interesting enough. So better to keep keen look at the movie while watching it. And you'll definitely enjoy it..
