Interesting portrayal of North Korea
This started out really strong but I almost totally lost interest by the end. One of the most intriguing part of the drama for me was the portrayal of North Korea. It was very nuanced and I learned that one of the screenwriters was a defector. Other than the interesting setting, the strength and appeal of the drama lay in the lighthearted and heartwarming day-to-day life of the main couple while in NK, before it was bogged down by all the other plots. Side character Gu Seung-jun stole the show the minute he showed up. Why did they kill him off ? and in such a lame way lol. I really struggled to like the heroine at first. She is very wealthy and her disdain (played to comedic effect) of the NK citizens' much less affluent lifestyle read too much like classism... It was a bit uncomfortable. With that said, the main couple were really cute and sweet and the hero was very good at doing the intense and wistful stare. Overall, very predictable and cliche, but lighthearted and has some heartwarming moments. Great production values and music and great wardrobe for the cast too.Was this review helpful to you?

My favorite
Really amazing story. This is one of the first Kdramas I've ever watched and I was so hooked from the first episode that I couldn't stop watching. This story is amazing, none I've ever seen before. The acting is incredible. The chemistry between the leads is so genuine. No surprise that they are together in real life. They are one of my favorite couples on screen and off. The music is so memorable too.One of my favorite thing about this show is the friendship development with Seri and the others. This drama has the perfect amount of comedy, romance and angst. I cannot emphasize enough that this is one of the best Kdramas out there, especially for starters. You don't even have to be interested in Kdramas to enjoy this, literally anyone can.

Forever Favourite! Always in my Heart
This is a true Masterpiece. It was my first kdrama ever& I still love it so much. I watched Dramas like Goblin, DOTS, Kingdom, Its Okay Not To Be Okay, etc., but CLOY is still the one which i cant forget. I think about it everyday. The OSTs are so Perfect. I love the bonding of both the actors & the story is also very great! Just go for it, Dont think once. You won't regret it.It is an emotional rollercoaster ride for the viewer. Well, it has a Happy Ending for the main actors, but not for other casts.
I love it for Infinity!

South meets North
I really liked this drama and the interaction of the characters. Especially between captain Ri/Yoon Se-ri and his "boys". I was really curios how the differences and the seperation of north and south would be represented. And the shown prejudices were refreshing. Of course I am aware that it is not 100% accurate since it is a fictional story and not a documentation. I liked all the charakters and started rooting for the second couple. After all it was funny, exciting and in my opinion well made. Was this review helpful to you?
Quite a unique plot for a love story. It is funny and profound. The characters are lovable. Great acting all around.
It made me curious on how people actually live in North Korea.
There is a sense of simplicity and order in the North compared to Seri's life in South Korea. Seri was a breath of fresh air to the people she encountered. She was the odd one that definitely stood out.
So looking forward to what happens next.....
Love it!

After watching from the first episode, I am addicted with this storyline. Based on my previous experience from watching the two other dramas that Ms. Park Ji-eun had written, both "my love from another star" and "legend of blue sea" contained similar storyline which was "fate" bring the main actors and actresses together. The main actors and actresses in the above dramas did not just meet each other coincidently and fell in love yet, they were meant to be through many lives. Turning to our CLOY drama, fate also brings Ri Jeong Hyeok and Yoon Se-ri together as from their first coincidence in Switzerland to DPRK and continue to South Korea. If Se-ri did not plan to commit suicide on the bridge in Switzerland, she did not get a chance to meet our Captain Ri. Moreover, if she did not go paragliding, she could not have a chance to meet and get to know Ri Jeong Hyeok again in DPRK too. Everything in this drama was meant to be accordingly and little by little, both of them started to realize about it.
From my perspective, I believe that CLOY's ending will be similar to "my love from another star" and "legend of blue sea" since the three were written by the same person and the storylines matched. I am guessing that Ri Jeong Hyeok and Yoon Se-ri will live happily together in S.Korea like what Ri Jeong Hyeok's wishes in episode 12.
I am looking forward to the final episode.

I don't get the hype
I just don't get the hype. The ML and FL act like teenagers when they're pushing 40 (not charming, no chemistry)... they can't even look one another in the eyes after a normal display of affection. The way the ML is risking his life here is insane. Their tangled web of lies only gets more complex and it's stressful to watch it all go down. They are reckless!
I also hate the back and forth, like she's gonna leave for real this time... sike!!! The plot doesn't hold up if you think about it critically even a little and it's just a bit boring. Sorry, I don't mean to be a total hater, I like all the actors and they do well in their respective roles, but I don't see how people rate this a 9 or 10 out of 10 consistently.

It got me hooked from the very beginning. The cast, the OST, the plot and even the cinematography are perfect. I personally enjoyed watching the side characters too! Some of them are funny and relatable in a lot of ways. The relationship of everyone involved seemed very real too, not shallow. I was able to get to know the characters well as we watch.
This drama just sets the standard so high - can't wait to watch more dramas like this in the future! AMAZING! I love it so much!
btw I never write reviews here, but I did just for this drama hahaha

The visual of Switzerland is awesome, just think I was almost in that country. The visuals, the music scores, the costumes (of course Hyun Bin looks great in anything he wears even that dang sparkled sweatsuit), always the team of a KDrama makes it all the better. The storyline, I loved it. Thank You for making me laugh, cry, and not one time did I curse anyone out. lol If you don't know, you will know if you see it... you must see this!
What happened to the marriage?????????? oh well, I still rated it a 10!
