Not a spark
Story didn't have new to show ,same triviality. College's love story ,love rivalry, storing friendship and involved in different types of sport . Parents and child understanding to each other. The fact that bored much was that he took 18th episode to confess his love towards her .
I like second lead's story much than first but still till end they didn't meet ,left viewer to think that they too had happy ending .
So don't like the story .
Very dull story and even the actors too ,I think the story as well as direction is too dull and bored that it effect their acting too.

An enjoyable College life Series
Very enjoyable Series. The heart ache, ups and downs of attending College. The love one heart wants but can't have is evident. Watching Xiong Yi Fan get all giddy when ever Yan Ke paid attention to her, was funny. It made you smile and think back when you had your first romance. The chemistry among the Cast Members was great. The scenery was great. The big cities are just like any other concrete jungle. Full of traffic, tall buildings wall to wall people.
I want to thank the Producers for making a nonpolitical. The College could of been anywhere in the world. College folks are college folks.
I would recommend people to watch this series. I will watch it Watching again.

I love me some Riley Wang, he's such a good actor, he has great emotions, his chemistry with any costar is not disappointing at all, the kisses were *chefs kiss* perfect and the chemistry was fantastic with Wan Peng. She was silly, tough and the two worked out because they were sweet. I loved the best friends. I didn't even mind the girl that had a crush on Riley because they all ended up getting along and the familes were sweet too.
Music was nice towards the end!
I probably wouldn't rewatch it unless I needed something light but it wasn't a bad show at all! It was worth it and such an easy binge watch.

Sweet, but not very memorable
*outline*I really don't know why this drama was hyped up on a few of the YouTube channels I follow, there was honestly nothing much to it and the roles just weren't very convincing... maybe the drama could've been successful if some of the actors changed. However, this is a good drama to watch if you're coming back from a very dramatic plotline (from another drama/movie, I mean).
*analysis*
STORY : One thing I definitely liked from the very beginning was the fact we could jump into the story quickly. There weren't any unnecessary scenes; this immediately caught my interest. This is also what drove me to watch it straight away. The different moods throughout the drama (funny, cute, jealous moments) were evenly proportionate and there weren't any unnecessary scenes or characters either. On the other hand the script was very boring. Yan Ke and Yifan's chemistry was good, I'll give the scriptwriter that... but their lines were very dry. It seemed there was awkward tension between the two rather than a feeling of love? Though, the best scripted scenes were between each family. The parent-child relationships were very realistic in the sense we could see the difference in how different family dynamics are. There are different forms of love for the same relationship, if that makes any sense. The worst part of the script was the denseness of some of the characters. Yifan says somewhere "you can't hide it if you like someone" and here Yan Ke was trying his hardest to hint to her that he doesn't only like her... but even love her maybe. This is the most annoying thing I come across in some asian dramas, they're just so dense (especially the women); it's like a character's denseness has become a genre in itself. Because of this, the confession wasn't exactly amazing either. I'd actually felt grateful that it finally happened because it was just getting lengthy and tiring to keep watching both the main characters hesitating. I do have to admit, the character development after the main couple finally got together was a really nice watch. You could see their affection and love for each other grow consistently. I expected a more awkward relationship, but that wasn't the case. I just ended up shipping them more. And finally, the ending - this is one of very few dramas that actually has a complete and sweet ending.
ACTING / CAST : Hands down, my favourite character was Qi Xiaosong. He wasn't all that special until the end of Episode 12; I only realised 'damn, he's so precious' halfway through the drama. In terms of acting too, love scenes did look quite awkward too (more so before they actually got together). Riley Wang was one of the very few (continuous appearance) characters who continued to stick to his role very well. (Doesn't he sort of look like Eric Nam though? :')) Wan Peng actually came out of her character a few times... And other times her acting just felt either too dramatic/passive. Background characters actually did a little bad. There were a few times I noticed they kept watching the main & supporting characters act when they obviously weren't supposed to; this made them look like the audience rather than actors. One last note: Qi Xiaosong deserved more screen time.
MUSIC : Loud. Very loud. Most of the time I couldn't even hear the lines... It was just so disruptive, and the dynamics continued to change, it's like the editors didn't even cross reference between the scenes to make sure the volume was continuous throughout and low enough so we could actually hear what the actors were saying. This ruined the mood and gave me a bad impression of the music so badly that I ended up not enjoying it at all (even when it finally improved around the end). It doesn't matter if it's good or not, I just didn't bother trying to listen to the music as I tried to concentrate on the scene a little more.
REWATCH VALUE : It's very low, to be honest. No matter how sweet the story was, there wasn't actually much to it. And the characters weren't very memorable either. Though, I may miss Qi Xiaosong despite his very little screen time.
*extra*
1. First thing's first, I have to admit I couldn't stop shipping Qi Xiaosong with Yan Ke continuously, throughout every screentime of theirs (despite Xiong Yifan being there a few times too).
2. Guys, please recommend some dramas where the characters aren't so dense? I've been wanting a good watch since ages...

FIRST CHINESE DRAMA I MANAGED TO FINISH
I am not a big fan of chinese dramas, maybe its because i have Kdrama blood in me and Cdramas are quite different or maybe because they have many episodes and i lose interest, one thing i know is that this Cdrama was the first i managed to finish and i think it help me appreciate Cdramas more. The storyline was nice to watch and even if sometimes was quite silly it didnt bother me.
The main reason i liked this Cdrama is the second lead couple, half way through i lost interest in the main couple, but second lead came right on time.
The characters were sometimes kinda annoying but i guess its more realistic that way. The storyline wasnt super realistic tho.

Tepid....as bad as luke warm tea that you don't want to drink.....
First the positives:Great second couple. Their romance was unique, great chemistry, slow burn, exciting to watch. And the best part - the second ML is absolutely a dish! What a universal good looking guy!!
And the female is very downplayed and wonderful. Toward the end she actually overtakes the FL.....in a very subtle manner. However they are not given enough importance and their story slides away.
The FL character is also very different from the standard 12-year old female with a squeaky baby voice, wearing tiny skirts that barely cover her crotch.
This female lead had a great personality etched out for her and more importantly, she carries off the role with aplomb.
That's it. Those are the only saving grace for this drama.
The negatives::
Such a boring story. N..O..t..h..ING ever happens.
You can easily watch every alternate episode and miss nothing!
If it's a slice of life, then believe me, you'll quit eating pizza slices for a month!
There must be a demographic that watches these insipid, tepid, lifeless dramas.
China has released a few stunning romances in 2023 - and sorry to say, this one needs to be buried away in cans.

If you like typical college romance with no surprises - this is the show for you
The show is basically about 2 people Yan Ke and Xiong Yi Fan who met briefly in high school, although Yan Ke thinks Xiong Yi Fan was a boy at the time, and meet again in college The show starts with Xiong Yi Fan wanting to profess her love for Yan Ke but things do not work out, The show is a series of misunderstandings and missed chances until the 2 finally figure it out.Nothing original about the story. Of course the met in high school, an if course they both like each other but it takes awhile before they both admit it. Yan Ke does figure out she wasn't;t a boy in the first few episodes. That part was amusing. There are some serious moments where Xiong Yi Fan is cyber bullied about her being a tom boy, Generally though it is a typical college romance with nothing to make it different.
Acting was fine especially Xiong Yi Fan. I thought Yan Ke was serviceable, nothing amazing. The supporting cast were all good. I especially liked the actor playing Bai Yu Ze - I believe it was his first role. He did a good job playing the romeo, runaround type but when he started to change you really could feel along with him. The parents of Yan Ke and the father if Xiong Yi Fan were all good. I wish w had seen them more.
Music was fine, sometimes it was too often for a shorter show to have a music interlude and stalled the events.
If you like a light romance with no surprises then this is the show for you.

first true love
storyline: it was interesting the way they met in the college. all the characters were interesting and colorful. the friendship between XIONG YIFENG and DING MING and the DING Ming fell in love with YUZE everything had its own unique way.acting: If you didn't tell me that these people were actors, I would have thought that they really did truly love each other. The acting is perfect down to the very micromovements of the eyes and lips. The dubbing (which can't be avoided in c-drama) wasn't the best - but surprisingly, the acting was so good that it made up for the voice-over completely!

good drama to pass time!
DISCLAIMER: Skipped A LOT of episodes and scenes.I watched completely til ep 5, then skipped to ep 14, and to be honest, it felt like I didn't really miss anything important in the plot. Even then, I kept skipping through scenes. That's why I'm recommending this to those who just wants a chill viewing without too much plot to focus on.
Love Riley Wang, such a handsome actor but I still feel like he's lacking in acting skills. I think Wan Peng really carried the scenes! She fits this kind of a student boss type roles. Her character is kind of similar here and on her Meeting You drama, except there, her character is more charming.
Maybe the acting skills really affected the romance part of it. I guess cdramas really like the blank face type of guys.
Liked the ending, really cute but it's not really squeal-worthy type of romance. I think the biggest thing I really liked about it is how supportive they are with their individual careers. oh and I also love how there's no evil parents!!
Overall, very chill and cute! Can't say that it doesn't have much conflicts because I skipped through all that lol

Not that remarkable but entertaining enough to watch.
Love in so many forms were showcased in this show. From a platonic / fraternal love to romantic love of the the main leads. To the almost unrequited love of the supporting characters. Even a bit of familial love between the parents and their kids were shown here.Typical first love story, but I found realistic enough with their mundane issues. It just proves that not all heartbreaks turns a person bitter and with evil persona.
I like the actors, their pretty entertaining to watch. Good OST.
What I dont like much was the fact that this 24 episodes could've been cut in half and it wouldn't matter much, too much filler scenes for my liking.

Nothing new watch for WanPeng only
First romance 2020 I watched it because i am a fan of Wan Peng. I like her ever since i’ve watched her in when we were young 2018. Watching this drama I can’t feel any chemistry to the main leads. I find Riley was too soft or pabebe. I much consider the second lead he was too manly than the mainlead. There’s nothing new or something plot twist. I found my self dropping & skipping episodes. **************************************************+++*********+**++++******+++++***************************+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++Was this review helpful to you?
I know that there a lot of people complaining about how the storyline and love line are dragged to much but honestly that is cdramas for you. Like even after the main character have a mutual feeling they will still drag the story lin. I think that Overall this is so cute and It is great to give a try. I usually do not rewatch cdrama because they are too long for me to watch twice. I think that Xiong Yi fan is super cute.
I also love the addition of Ken wu. I have never seen him act before but he is definitely a winner for me. I live him so much, he and his long hair are so cute.
The plotline
The plotline is pretty basic as it is a high school to the university love story. But what drew me toward this drama in the first place was the transgender aspect of it. My being gen z and everything I think that it is great how they somewhat tried to tackle that sort of area down which I have never seen In a cdrama before.
Also another great thing about the plotline is that the second lead ends up with somebody else. There have been many times wherein cdramas the male lead always ends up sad but these days I have been seeing a lot of dramas where they didi not ming that nad the made two couples.
WARNING
this story is full of cringe, pillow ripping, and heart-fluttering moments. SO if you are ready for that sort of shit than this is definitely a winner for you.
