In 2014, a series of murders targeting women takes place in Kawasaki City. All the victims have been killed as if they had hanged and these are dubbed the “Hanging Murders” in public. The police investigation runs into difficulties without clues on the murderer. However, Detective Iguchi from the First Investigation Division has his eye on a man whom he suspects to kill for pleasure. This man is Nogi Naoya. He lies about his identity, erases his traces in public, and lives as if he is holding his breath. Nogi is actually Yaginuma Masato, the victim in the sensational Akishima mother and son kidnapping case. He gets involved with his neighbor Yoshika. What is his true motive? This whole 5 episodes runs so intense that I don't even realize it's time to move to the next episode. The first episode is quite difficult for me to understand, but it arise my curiosity, so it's a good sign for me to continue watching. I also wondered if there would be a twisted plot here (^_^) And I'm not disappointed! The twisted plot is there, with a perpetrator which completely unimaginable. And then comes the ending. The ending is ... I can't even express my feeling into words for this kind of ending. Maybe it's a satisfying bittersweet ending? After I watch this, I make a note to myself to watch Ishi no Mayu and Suisho no Kodo, also Chou no Rikigaku.
First time I saw Furukawa Yuki is on From 5 to 9, and when I watch this mini series, I personally think that his acting has undergone many developments from the first time I saw it. He indeed have a little lines, but his gesture and expressions says a lot. The other casts were did a great job too. They really appreciate their role, so they act very naturally.
Like the plot, the music is so intense and feels heavy.
