The special takes place in the sea paradise, Okinawa. Hosho Reiko’s butler, Kageyama, leaves for Hong Kong to give Reiko’s father, Seitaro, a yearly report. Though there had not been too many major incidents as of late, while Kageyama is away, a major incident occurs, where a burnt corpse of a man who is thought to be Matsushita Keizan, a world renowned artist, is discovered. After the usual round of questioning suspects, Reiko returns home to find that Kageyama is finally back from his week long trip. When Reiko tells Kageyama about the case involving the discovery of Matsushita Keizan’s burnt body, Kageyama takes Reiko to the Hosho family’s art storage and while showing her Matsushita’s collection, he informs Reiko that he suspects that it is a locked room mystery situation. Reiko makes fun of Kageyama for having the same opinion as Kazamatsuri. Kageyama, with his damaged pride for being at the same level as Kazamatsuri, swearing that he will figure out the mystery, asks Reiko for more details of the crime. They contemplate for a while whether it really was a murder or if it was a suicide, and eventually settle on the idea that it was indeed a suicide. As they decide to return to dinner, Reiko suddenly remembers another major incident that had occurred. This incident had in fact occurred on a trip to Okinawa that Detective Kazamatsuri had arranged. ~~ Adapted from the novel “Nazotoki wa Dinner no Ato de” (謎解きはディナーのあとで) by Higashikawa Tokuya (東川篤哉). Reviews
The story of the special is way better than any of the cases in the drama. The case is presented to the viewer in little pieces and just Kageyama is able to figure out how they are connected with each other.
I had no idea how to link all the little happenings (although I must say I am quite stupid when it comes to solving mystery^^°)
I absolutely LOVE the acting of the two main actors. Sho is wonderful in acting as a butler but also when he accuses his mistress for being stupid. Keiko acts wonderfully as the heir that has to take all of Kageyama's bratty remarks and I cracked up so much about her acting when she was being drunk.
Also, Kazamatsuri makes me laugh all the time. His acting his hilarious and he fits the role so wonderful!!!
It's a funny special with a detective story and the mix of humor and mystery is just right. It does not get boring and on the other hand there are lots of moments to make you laugh.
If you feel like watching a detective drama that isn't too serious, I suggest you give this one a chance! You won't regret it!
