The was my 3rd Taiwanese drama that I ever watched & this what got me into Mike He, Raine Yang & Kigome Wang. I loved it when I first watched it.The story was your typically bad boy & nice guy with a twist. But remember, it was made in 2005, so it might of been newer in Taiwan at the time. No spoilers if you haven't seen it. Don't let the plot scare you off, because the leads have great chemisty & you should continue till the end. The plot dragged a little near the end, but this drama is still really good.
The main leads were fleshed out well & I love the male lead's friends in this drama. Love the parents, they are so cute. As I said above, the chemistry is great, the kiss scenes were great & I wanted them to date in real life.I love Mike He's character & how he turns around and becomes good! Rainie play good girl well, but there were moments where I wanted to slap her(near the end). She is pretty strong female lead when she wants to be, has spunk. I hated the 2nd female lead, but turned good as well! I liked that she didn't stay bad. I hated the female friend at first, but she turned good too! Yeah for people turning good!
Music wasn't that memorable but the opening theme was good though.
Overall, i recommend this drama if you like comedy, romance, cohabitation situations, school drama, the actors & actresses & like great chemistry from the OTP! Also remember, don't let the plot scare you off.

One of My Firsts
Honestly, I've watched this drama more times than I can count. It was one of the very first Asian dramas I've watched and I didn't get into watching Asian dramas fully till my pre-teen years. The first time I've ever heard about the "Devil Beside You" was from my aunt, she loved watching Asian dramas..On one particular night my mom, sister, and I slept over at my aunts as my parents had an argument. I decided to stay up past my bedtime (I was 7 at the time and couldn't stay up past 9) while my mom and sister were sleeping. I ended up binge watching the series with my aunt since she wanted to rewatch a certain show. And you guessed it, it was "Devil Beside You." At the time I I was amazed by the very unique plot and it was my first time watching a show in a different language. I remember cringing whenever the romantic parts were displayed. But regardless of the fact that I found it cheesy and cringe, I still rewatched it over and over again.
This particular drama will always have a special spot in my heart.
*This drama helped me learn about different aspects and povs of life that the characters portrayed, and it also helped me improve my reading/comprehension skills.

Cute story and Mike He and Rainie Yang are just so cute together!
I watched this drama after I watched Bull Fighting, the first Mike He drama I watched. I’m pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. This is my first Rainie Yang drama. This one is definitely better than Bill Fighting, lots more kisses here and Mike He, how could anyone resist his smile? ?I got a little annoyed when someone unexpectedly showed up to try to break them apart but this situation is quickly resolved.
Love how Ahmo told his grandmother how label doesn’t matter and what matters is what’s already inside his heart. Then later he told Qi Yue that he’ll only her in his lifetime. Awww.
Rainie and Mike interaction as bf/gf are just so cute, especially in last episode. ???

The characters are beautifully crafted. Through the episodes you can see the characters opening up and growing as people and situations affect them. It is heartening to see such a solid set of characters and actors to play them.
I have to say, you surely will like Mike He if you watch this drama. His character was the soul of the drama and he carries it brilliantly. Rainie is adorable and plays her part perfectly.
What I really appreciated about this drama is the non dramatic, almost natural way the characters deal with their relationships and situations.
Ah Meng and Qi Yue share a love that is beautiful and heartwarming to watch. Their individual parents are so the opposite of 'drama' parents, it was such a relief!!
I have to mention the music and background score..I found it brilliant and it really made a big difference to the drama.
The sub plots of their friends is also shown to some detail, which I felt it helped in the completeness of the drama. More focus on the lead actors alone might've caused it to be a drag.

I've decided to watch this one after my friend told me about it.In the beginning I thought the story sounded superficial, but wanted to give it a go anyway.
And it turned out to be a story full of humor, fluff and honesty. It made me want to continue watching after every episode!
Though the acting seems a bit exaggerated (especially in certain scenes during the first episodes) it levels out as the story progresses. I was really surprised by some of the support-roles. Especially Ahmon's father who I originally thought to be laughing stock-figure, turned out to have a lot of potential.
What I really liked about this drama:
The actors were well chosen and did a nice job conveying emotions, problems and the individual characters. I was afraid "the devil" would end up making a 180° turn and end up suddenly being all lovey-dovey (like in several other dramas), but his character remained consistent only gained depth!
Same goes for the supporting cast. I always get really frustrated when you have a couple of really good actors and their only function in the whole drama is to push along the storyline of the main characters. In this drama, they had there own stories. You got the impression of them being real friends, with honest and realistic behaviour.
(I would have enjoyed to see more of the relationship between Jang Ping and Li Xiang, though!)
After episode 5 I thought...
1. this is brilliant. 10* and 100% rewatch value.
2. There are another 15 episodes, what are they going to do? oO
3. Please don't let this turn into one of those dramas that just drag on and on and on...
Well, it didn't drag on.
I thought the screenwriter(s) did a really good job at tackling the whole "sibling-love affair" issue, in a realistic and honest fashion. I have to admit, I really liked this topic and was amazed at how well it was dealt with.
What I didn't like:
This is probably getting old and maybe I am biased by my own cultural background but I really hate it, when people do not talk about their feelings. They don't have to go confessing in ep 2 but how they always do whatever they think is right, always wanting to do everything on their own. As if they were alone in the relationship. Many of the dramas I watched could have been completed in half the time had people sat down for a decent talk.
(Sorry... getting distracted here...)
It's not too prominent in this drama though, but it is still there. And it's just frustrating to see the only time they ever sweet-talk to each other is after they have finally resolved one of these issues.
(Okay enough of that now... I am ranting...)
I know I said the drama is not dragging on, but during the last couple of episodes one does get the impression of the main characters just kind of going from one problem to the next. Mind, all problems are in line with the story and make sense, but I still got a little put off by too many problems and too little fluff.
So I had to deduct some points, because it spoiled the rewatch value.
The ending ... oh I won't ... spoilers ;)
All in all this was still one of the better dramas I have seen so far. I'd definetely recommend it. It was great to watch and very enjoyable. This drama will make you want to watch on after every episode, because it is exciting throughout.
