Anyways, coming to my opinion on this drama, I loved it (I guess that's pretty obvious from my ratings. lol). This drama didn't drag for me at all. I didn't skip anything. The relationships were so beautiful. The father-daughter relationship full of emotions that every daughter can relate to. I mean, let's face it, at some point we've all fought with our dads. But we still love them unconditionally. That's how kids are programmed into this world (wait, did I just quote Anastasia Grey? I think I did). Obviously, things between Seoyoung and her dad are at another level. But she still loves him and their reconciliation is beautiful. There are other amazing relationships that took my breath away. The brother-sister, the husband-wife. I loved Seoyoung's mother-in-law and OMG HER BRO-IN-LAW IS SOO HOT!! I really like him (not just because he's hot though, lol).
I can't believe Seoyoung felt so lonely when all these people were in her life, loving her and encouraging her in their own ways. Her husband is just..PERFECT. I think I'm going to rewatch this whole drama in a couple of decades. In fact, I think I'm going to buy this on DVD. All the high tv ratings for this drama aren't for nothing. This drama fully deserved them. One of my favorites.

Now I found the reason why this drama conquered a very high rating in Korea, 50 episodes I bet it’s worth watching till the end. I never found any dull moments from the start until the end. The screenwriter knows how to produce a good drama. When time goes around here there, everyone has their character and a reason to be there. In the end, we couldn’t find anyone to blame because they’re fated to be there and everything happens for a reason.
If we try to understand it, not try to pull it too much, and never try to push it too far, we are actually been here because we are destined to be this way. Massive conflicts in this drama teach us that we are today as we are and no one to blame and no need to regret it. Just accept it with an open heart and move forward.
Ujae’s determination finally changed, he learns to be a person who can give and take when he needs to. Seo young once fights for her pride even from her husband, in the end, the only thing that she wanted to and can comfort her is to be truly herself. My favorite characters are Ujae’s parents, even if you find them harsh and self-centered but actually, they’re warm-hearted and forgiving parents and believe in things with just simple common sense.
Seo Young’s aboujie, his kind of heart always leads to misunderstanding, and Seo Young always misjudges him. After reconciling, I bet your heart once at ease because everybody understands each other’s feelings.
Music the most Melody Day – Like Back Then, there are no words that can express how much I love this song. So beautiful.
For the viewers below 15’y.o, I prefer parents to guide them because this drama carries heavy messages and deep meaning, which sometimes could lead to misunderstanding.
Finally, Seongjae, or CNBLUE’s bassist Lee Jungshin, for his first drama ever, I rate him 9/10. He is so talented and doing very good job in acting.
I recommended this drama to ALL. I promise it is worth your precious time

Story: SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL and full of emotions... emotions that I've never seen in other dramas. It felt like watching something real something I need to watch and learn from, it didn't feel at all like a "drama" for entertainment. The story has everything you need to learn about life, about people and understand what trust means what betrayal means, and why people act they way they do, how to look beyond what you actually see or what seems to be right and how to forgive...etc For a change there wasn't evil characters, crazy characters, annoying characters, weakling characters, cheesy characters...etc NONE of the things which exist in other Typical K dramas were here in MDSY.
Acting: The whole cast showed an amazing acting skills from small characters to the main characters... I have seen Lee Bo Young 2 times before I never did admire her as an actress I was wondering why give her such a huge project the girl can't even act... well SHE proved me wrong !! No one would've done Seo Young any better !! my 2nd surprise was Lee Jung Shin this is my first time admiring an idol's acting skills !! I'm definitely looking forward to their next projects !!.
Music: The instrumentals were so beautiful went very well with the story... my favorite OST is "Melody Day Like Back Then" I can't stop listening to it
Rewatch
It's a family drama and family dramas usually are re-watchable in general so I'm giving it 8, but as for me I'm not sure if I'd re-watch it again I don't re-watch dramas except for really few special cases.
Overall
Are you looking for a good family drama? With slice of life? This is the drama for you it's one of the best family dramas that I've seen. Don't let the length scare you it is really worth the time

First of all, family dramas are meant to be very annoying and meaningful, but whose family isn't annoying. I love this drama so much.
Actors/Acting: A perfect 10
-Wow this the first time i ever fell in a love with a Korean mother in law, why? It's because Korean mother are played to be really evil in most dramas. Ujae's mom was the best. She always made me laugh, she was really warm even though she got angry at some parts. I really liked her.
-No one could have played Seoyoung better than Lee Bo young. I knew she was an okay actor, but she embodied her role so much that I actually hated her for it. She really did some genius acting in this show.
-Ujae (Lee Sang Yoon) was not only flipping sexy, but he was such an amazing actor. I loved him throughout the whole show. I really want to marry someone like him when I am older.
-The rest of the cast was perfect, funny and loveable. The twin brother (Park HAE JIN) he was amazing.
The story: Without, the cast I think I would have dropped this show. The one thing i hate are secrets and misunderstandings and this was the story frequent theme. Nevertheless, this show was so addicting because it was so interesting, so I couldn't even drop it. The writer and director were brilliant because they made everything make perfect sense.

All in all, I truly loved this drama; and rated it 5 Stars for everyone to watch and enjoy ;) The only thing that held me back from watching it was that it had 50 episodes... Honestly, though, once I made the commitment for the 50 episodes, I was so glad I did! Yes, it was long; but the time passed relatively quickly because the story line was so good, thanks to the writers! No fast-forwarding through any of it. It's just worth every minute of watching time. Try it! You will love it!!

Each of the characters make you feel for them - the main "stressed" point of this drama was "don't think only from your own perspective (how you were raised and how you think) but think from others perspectives - don't judge others actions based on what you believe is right and wrong - we all grow up different and that shapes who we are.
Music was so good - especially the instrumental they put with Hojeong's scenes - it was perfect.
This drama is going in my Masterpiece collection :D <3
If you love Family dramas but are hesitant to start watching this - don't be - watch it NOW - it's that good!

Now this is a typical family kdrama. What I liked about it was that it did not have so much of the typical cliches of kdrama love triangles, first loves etc. This mostly deals with the general life of these families. The family of SeoYoung and her brother, the family of Seoyoungs husband and the family of Sanja's wife.
the main story of SoeYoung started off really good and then it sort of got boring and later I felt I did not care for that character as she had too many insecurities and complexes which were mostly self created and gave too much pain to all the people around her.
The side stories especially the story of Seoyoung's brother was the best, I enjoyed it the most. I liked his character, the actor did a good job even though I think I saw him for the first time in drama.
His wife and Ujaeh Mom were my favs, both were pure, kind and so cute.
Verdict: I cant say I loved it, (like i loved Ojak brothers, Smile You) but it was not a bad drama. The story kept moving and there were not many irritating characters. I would say it is a mild drama, watch it in leisure but dont expect fireworks!!

“You came out of your mother’s tummy shouting, ‘I’m a feminist, didn’t you?’”The premise has needless drama but the characters manage to get through it with most of their dignity and autonomy intact.
I was especially worried for our heroine, but she is a survivor and she thrives in whatever environment she is in. It’s been a while since I’ve visited melodrama land and it’s been a while since I’ve been this upset over a show. Why won’t they do what I want them to do?
The best thing about this show is that no matter what is happening the show demonstrates the strength of the characters. It’ll pull up ridiculous scenarios just so we can feel happy about our protagonists.
Mothers
The mothers are pretty standard but about halfway I started getting interested in their relationships with the people in their lives.
What is really great is that the annoying mother-in-law is more of an object of pity because everyone loves the daughter in law so much.
Cheon Ho Jin can’t be matched when it comes to playing a nice elder. His gentle warmth for Seoyoung’s husband was so touching. “That rich family son is affectionate and has a good heart.” He plays Park Hae Jin’s father and the pair have such a nice chemistry.
Seoyoung – female lead
Lee Bo Young’s no-nonsense delivery does the trick. She plays a heroine that is calm and confident. There’s no needless bashing of her identity and person. She is well liked and competent.
Ujae – male lead
In terms of life, Ujae is pretty useless. He’s entitled and spoiled. He becomes wonderfully mature as the drama goes on – being a true older brother to his siblings and sharing his mistakes of the past as life lessons. “Don’t turn this into the same mess I did in the past.”
He doesn’t seem to have any hobbies or work, he doesn’t really get along with anyone in his family or in the drama. But he’s very good at realising his mistakes when he meets Seoyoung.
Romance
Ujae describes Seoyoung as, “Nice and tough.”
The pair get much better as the drama goes on. It is distinctly uncomfortable for the first 10 episodes or so.
Siblings
Park Hae Jin and Lee Bo Young as siblings is cute. They are both academically smart and work hard. I love how they get along.
Sang Woo
Park Hae Jin is so freakin’ good looking in this drama. He at first seems standoffish with potential love interests but he’s actually really kind to them. Throughout the drama he is self-righteous and a key catalyst for causing people around him distress because he needs to protect people in his own way.
“If you can love me like this, I don’t think I’ll find anyone else that’ll love me as much as you do.”
Sang Woo really is who he says he is. If he’s made up his mind to be happy with his decision he will be. He’s simple when it comes to his values and his values will keep his well being secure.
“I consider marriage like meeting a new friend you’ll have forever.”
I respect him because he shows that love is a choice.
Hojeong
Hojeong is such a pain. But I saw some spoilers about her though so I had to like her. And you can see that she makes efforts to improve herself and her personality. The way she wards off her blind dates by dressing up is funny.
She and her step brother are cute. Hojeong is a good example of how this show has these upright, stiff males that have a totally different side to them when it comes to the women in their life.

God, I WISH I liked this. I thought I would since it's from the same writer as Shining Inheritance (which is why I started watching this drama, for the 2020 Watch Challenge, but that's beside the point), and the plot lines up with what I usually like. The spoilers in this review aren't very detailed. I can't give specifics because I binged watched the 19 episodes I did watch and then skimmed some of the rest so everything is blending together, but I'll try to summarize what bothered me:
First, right off the back I could not STAND the main lead. His behavior was just... I didn't expect it, because everyone in the comments always talks about how much of a dream man Woo Jae is, but y'all. Those first like 10 episodes, he was pretty damn emotionally abusive. He never respected what Seo Yeong wanted, he always grabbed her and dragged her places and barged into her bedroom. He gets angry with her and guilts her for not wanting to uproot her life and go with him to America. Then he goes and asks again anyway. It's that typical "I have feelings for you, so you're mine now" stupid-ass mentality, except worse because she never told him that she liked him back. She told him that she was open to the possibility of loving him, and then he (and his family) starts pressuring her into marriage. They've known each other for how long? A month? Maybe two? I normally don't mind insta-love but this was RIDICULOUS.
Second, as much as I love Lee Bo Young and empathize with Seo Young's character, her rational just kept getting more and more stupid as the drama went on to the point where it got frustrating.
And frankly, I got bored. Maybe if I watched this while it was airing, I could have held on. I found myself very quickly only caring about Sang Woo, Ho Jung, and Sung Jae's storylines, and even Sung Jae's started to lose my interest later on. I didn't give a crap about the parents' (Ho Jung's family and Woo Jae's family) marital problems.
So.. yeah... dropping this one.
