A young boy is saved by firemen in a fire. His name is Daigo Asahina. Now he's a grown-up and has recently received his credentials as a firefighter. He has wanted to become a firefighter like the hero who saved him from the flames. But the firefighting brigade he is assigned to is the so-called "Me-Gumi", which is the nickname of the Medakagaoka Fire Brigade, and which, at first glance, seems to have absolutely no fighting spirit whatsoever. Actually, however, this is the home of a group of seasoned professionals led by that legendary firefighter Commander Gomi. They're active on the front lines risking their lives. The innocent Daigo, burning with a sense of justice and of the mission, battles together with his compatriots of "Me-Gumi", suffering, laughing and crying together with them as he develops into a topflight firefighter in this moving human drama. Reviews
I don't know why I downloaded this drama, it doesn't contain any of my favourite actors (well, Oguri Shun has a small part) and the drama plot sounded interesting but not so much more.
But I did anyways and I don't regret it. Even though the main character Daigo is a complete crybaby and somewhat slow when it comes to the most important moments, like many other main characters. But he is innocent and doesn't stop believing in himself and I think that is what makes him likeable. And the rest of the fire-fighters are there for a reason.
The story is really good. We get to know all of the fire-fighters on Megumi. And the story do tell some important things for living. It's an really inspiring drama.
I love the music, especially the ending song. It makes me dance everytime. It's impossible to start the next episode until the song is finished ^^.
I definitely recommend it to everyone.
You won't regret it ^^
Excellent Rescue Drama
I wasn't expecting much from this drama initially, but with good acting, a decent plot, and exceptional character development, I couldn't help loving it. I went from having the urge to repeatedly slap the ML upside his head to wanting to give him a heartfelt salute as the series progressed. What I liked most about this series was the lack of melodrama. Yes, there were conflicts among the characters and within themselves. But the drama focused on how they worked through those conflicts while facing life-threatening situations on a daily basis.
The only thing I didn't like was the ML's former teacher. While I understand the intent, I found the way she constantly interjected herself into his life made her seem more like a creepy stalker than a caring teacher. That aside, I was very happy with this drama.
Give this gem a try. You won't be disappointed, and you'll enjoy seeing some notable actors in their early days on screen.
