first time rewatching since it first came out!
this was honestly sooo cute! ngl this turned out to be so much cringier than i remembered but i had a great time still. the leads' acting were good even though if i'm not mistaken this was minkyu's first role(?) and doyeon did quite well too AND they have such a good chemistry. i think i'm not opposed to the idea of rewatching this again sometime in the future :)Was this review helpful to you?

Enjoyable but ends abruptly
8/10 is my rating. This is a 2020 South Korean comedy romance fantasy drama with 10, 15 minute episodes.First I provide a synopsis then review
Synopsis
Sun Nyeo (Kim Do Yeon) leads a typical teenage life but is annoyed that she bears a striking resemblance to a comic book character from a series that was popular a decade before. Not annoyed enough though that she doesn’t occasionally read the lines out loud. One time, as she reads the lines out loud, it causes the male romantic lead from the book, Chun Nam Wook, (Kim Min Kyu) to “Pop Out” from the comic book into the real world.
Even with a decades old hair style and fashion sense Nam Wook Is a heart throb. Seeing the object of his affections Nam Wook, Sun Nyeo’s he tries to continue their relationship where it left off calling her by a cheesy knickname and spotting equally cheesy one liners aimed at Sun Nyeo’s heart. It’s not long before Nam Wook understands that this Sun Nyeo is not the girl he left in the comic book. Will icy cool Sun Yeo fall for this unlikely Romeo?
Review
As a smile coming of age romantic comedy it fits the bill if you want something short, predictable and with a happy enough ending. Well acted with compelling characters.
*Spoilers. My biggest issue with this is it ends abruptly. He predictably has to return to the book and they have a tearful separation. He, also somewhat predictably, returns to the real world (how?) with some new character we only catch a glimpse of THE END. What? Do not leave me on a cliff hanger unless there are clear plans for another season. I liked it and was enjoying it but it felt like there was a power outage it ended so abruptly. If you like things neatly wrapped up in the end as I do then this is not for you. Maybe wait and see if they do another season. If you are ok with nebulous ending where you have to fill in a bunch of blanks then this may be one for you as I found the story and all the characters believable and enjoyable.

A romantic comedy of Book vs Real life ?
Just finished a great webtoon and storyline which included actor's/actresses that did a amazing job. This doesn't have actual spoilers just round about ones. Its about a girl Han sun nyeo who on her 18th birthday didn't want to be left alone. Then you see her mom wink and the house shakes and something falls when she reaches it a book with a page torn. As she read it aloud it a Happy18th bday page and she was happy to spend it with Nam wook. As he goes to kiss her she gags and as she turns around a boy walks out of the book *Sun nyeo and Nam wook" and trys to kiss her. She then tries to explain to him and herself how he came out of the book and how to put him back in. It turns out her mom was the writers of this series 10 years ago.The storyline now continues as she and her friends try to help him to adjust to the real world and not pages in a book. Also when his eyes meet other they go into a trance and compliment him or do stuff to Sun nyeo which is funny. This is an outline of drama so you must watch and you will love it to. Enjoy? PS. Hope there is more to come in this series.

A watchable Extraordinary You
Extraordinary You was the first drama ever I watched that dealt with the webtoon characters! It was also the drama where I discovered the concept of Second Lead Syndrome! And I hated it!Well, this is another drama dealing with webtoon characters and which has a SLS but it is shorter, cuter and better!
A high school girl makes a wish on her birthday but it does not really turn out to be what she wanted. A character from her mother's webtoon comes to life and keeps saying the most cringiest things ever! In spite of that, she falls for him. There is also her best friend who's been in love for her but never said anything (SLS unfortunately!).
The plot is nothing new or original, very predictable and with a few plotholes but since it is fantasy.... The drama features only kids and there are no adults involved in the story! I can understand this in a webtoon but this is a web drama and an adult presence could make this more believable: the girl's mother, the artist who created the webtoon, is dead so she lives alone. Apparently she does not have any relatives (father, grandparents, cousins?). Well it is fantasy!
Her mother used her name to create the female character in the comic and since it became hugely popular, she had to suffer everyone making a reference to the comic when they met for the first time. And therefore she hated the comic and the cringy character with her name her mother created.
I could so relate to this. When I was a kid, there was this hugely popular pop song with my name in the title so every time I'd meet someone, they would sing this song to me. I ended up hating my own name! And I still do!
The love triangle has been dealt with in the usual manner and for once I am glad that there was no apology for not returning feelings and they managed to stay friends.
This webdrama is quite funny as well! There is a side character, a redhaired girl who becomes a harpy(your typical high school top of the foodchain pretty girl) every time she sees the ML with someone but as soon as he moves out of the way, she realizes she'd done something stupid and apologizes. An original comic relief character!
And that's it for the story: just a romance triangle with a happy ending! I wish they explained it more but since it is fantasy, logical explanations are not needed.
The actors were all good and I hope to see more of them in the future. This is a nice short watch, no cringe or angst so it is very relaxing!

MIN KYU SAVED THE SHOW
I am sorry but I really tried to feel the chemistry between MIn Kyu and the FL here , but they were just like siblings that keeps fighting but have no choice but to get used to each other and accept each other since they are related. I was only able to finish this because MIn KYu is so cute and so pretty , but I was not able to appreciate most of the things about this drama, I would prefer to be mIn Kyu's partner here wll be the girl with the red hair , than the girl with bangs was it Su Nyeon ? I forgot the name. The story is quite good but I have not understood most of it maybe I got bored and only able to look at MIn Kyu's face , maybe I was not able to know why and how did he popped out from the comic , the writer should ve make it like the Pop out boy has a mission to make the cold hearted Su Nyeo fall inlove , somethings like that so that somehow we viewers could've had something to follow through on the story. I almost declare that this drama just wasted my time but I was no able to say it because somehow MIn Kyu made me feel good watching him, his personality here was so cheerful .. but the rest have a bad acting , i am not saying I am good at it

Not Good Enough
Korean Web Drama "Pop Out Boy" had its moments, but, overall, it was just so so.The good parts of it were the dynamics of the main couple and the generation gap that the male lead was facing. The couple was cute and they had a kind of cat and dog relationship, with some funny moments and an interesting twist of a plot. However, they ended up being predictable and cheesy. As for the retro confusion of the main lead, it should have been exploited more, as it was fun and interesting.
However, the rest of the story was kind of silly, badly handled and corny. Though the performances were really good, especially considering that most of the cast were Kpop idols.
So, overall, 4.5 out of 10.

Scolastico carino e dolce.

Was this review helpful to you?
