donno what was cuter Vlad falling for Karl…

donno what was cuter Vlad falling for Karl or Karl for Vlad, but the end panic - was a logical conclusion to the whole scene - Karl aint out and he might have been ok, saying "yeah i can fall for a guy like Vlad, cause..." giving that list to Anna, making Vlad blush and almost burst from joy. but saying something and actually living it r 2 different thing - the light's coming on at that moment, we very symbolic - like living in the dark = closet, as opposed to coming out = the electracy returning. think both of them needed that wake-up call for different reasons -****************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** Vlad even though he vowed that he would never "be" with a straight guy, has fallen in the blink of an eye - escapism? Karl on the other hand hasn't even realized that his friendship and roommate offer had an deeper effect on him - that he wants more with Vlad. so they both needed this wake-up call to reassess their situation - and come to a coherent decision. i.e decide that this is what they want and go forward by choice - as opposed to falling into it ****************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** btw Anna's ghost story and the "body" Karl's kid pic falling out of the cupboard was very weird and makes me want to know what it symbolizes (as enough time has passed that i forgot, (a dead brother that he took his place?!?) if there was a story behind that pic - remember Vlad's father abandoning him and that's why he doesn't like being patted on the head - cause that's the last thing his father did before leaving) hmmmm...

Y Tu Mamá También

This is undeniably a homage for the 2001 movie.Karl, Vlad, and Anna mirroring the characters in Y Tu Mama Tambien also went on a horror story escapades only to find themselves dancing in an imaginary prom night. There's also elements of Nick Joaquin's May Day Eve involving Karl's reflection thru the mirror while "Nasaan ka, oh Luna?" playing in the background. Culminating Vlad's feeling at the start of the episode begets the realization of Karl's own feelings towards Vlad.

Fan Fact. Diego Luna and Gael Garcia Bernal went on with successful careers after their breakthrough in Y Tu Mama Tambien. Checkout how Diego reminisce their time youtu.be/4qL1tiwdbq0. i can see this happening with Ian and Paolo Pangilinan's careers moving forward.

Tears???

You know what? I was being a curmudgeon as per usual, withholding my full emotional commitment to this show, and then they're dancing and they transition to prom attire and suddenly I'm crying. I have chills and I'm crying. And I think it's all so real to me, these are all real things I've felt and I don't like those feelings and so I try to distance myself from this show because I don't want to feel them any more than I have to. But something about that one caught me while my guard was down. The music, probably. This show owes a lot of credit to its outstanding soundtrack. Music can make me feel emotions like nothing else.

What can I say....

I'm a simp for sweet moments! I'm probably judging this whole episode off of the prom dance scene but I don't care I loved it! Also I know it may seem small or insignificant to some but I LOVE that fact that Vlad calls Karl on his microaggressions and corrects him. I really appreciate the attention to detail to reinforce respect for the LGBTQIA+ community.

Well thought-out episode!

The episode delivered exceptionally most especially in terms of the sequencing and the flow of the story. Some may regard the series to be slow in comparison to other BL series but I think that it is just quite appropriate given the timeline of the series and the possible Season 2 (as hinted in the Wattpad Script) and possible Movie (as envisioned by the series creator). I really liked the slow burn in this series since it is similar to what I felt when I watched SOTUS. In this episode, the multiple scenes connect with each other in a way that it transcends the screen. The Y tu mamá también reference, the metaphors behind the horror stories, the kilig moments between Karl and Vlad, and the magical prom dance: they show how the series strives to genuinely represent the community. I also commend this episode and the previous ones for educating its viewers on the various issues in the community aside from delivering kilig moments. These conversations are really important given the status of the community in Filipino society right now. Overall, I really liked this episode. I think my only concern is with the the dim lighting on some sequences. The lighting could have been better so that the emotions on the actors' faces could be more clearly seen. On a final note, the prom scene really stood out to me since this was the dance I wished that I had in my early teens and I could feel that many share this sentiment.

Story pacing too slow

Story pacing is too slow, and the support female character's story is more compelling than the main couple's story.

Never knew this episode could easily TOP episode 4!!!

Claiming it. best episode of all BL series. There was so much to read between the lines, from Karl and Vlad's conversation in the opening sequence, to Anna and Vlad's horror stories, Anna opening up, Karl and Vlad catching up for lost time, and the last frames of the episode. It was tied so beautifully and well. This actually deserves an Oscar..

Gaya Sa Pelikula (2020) Episode 5

Episode 5 was a cute and romantic episode. On this episode, we saw how Karl and Vlad continued to develop deeper feelings for each other. The fantasy sequence of the two of them dancing was really beautiful. We also got to know more about Anna on this episode. We may agree or disagree with her views and life decisions but at least she's relatable. She seemed like a real person. Like Boys' Lockdown, screenplay, with its English and Taglish sentences, was generally natural -- at least for middle to upper class Filipinos (Pinoys). Admittedly, most Pinoys don't talk like Vlad but there are Pinoys who talk like him. So while I can understand that there are Pinoys who can't relate to him, there are also Pinoys who can. What I'm trying to say is that he's a realistic representation of a Pinoy -- so leave Vlad alone, lol! And besides, he's really gorgeous, that matters too... a lot, lol! Acting was also on point on this episode. Audio-visuals was mostly ok except the lighting. I know electricity was out but some of scenes were just too dark and too unclear. Still, overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this episode. I just hope this series gets to the main conflict soon since there are only three episodes left -- or why not just extend the series for a few more episodes? That's a happier thought, lol!

Good!

With regards to this episode, it's more of a filler episode but it was delivered nicely and beautifully. Both were developing feelings but what I noticed was with Vlad, it's more obvious while Karl was in the stage of denial of his feelings and even of his sexual orientation, hence, the statement saying he thinks he's straight. The series is slow paced but I appreciated the series being one because it made me appreciate more the development of their character and also their feelings. However, what I didn't like in this episode was the quality especially scenes with dim lights. It's so pixelated that I couldn't properly see their face. That's the only thing I'm most disappointed about this episode. Overall, the episode was good, and I'm excited for what to come in the next episode.
