Moving Mountains (2016)

Inspired by an ancient legend, the old man is known as "Yugong" trying his best to remove the mountain for his whole life. Yang Fudong, the director, used this story to initiate a poetic reflection on human nature and changing values, which is exactly what this 46-minute black-and-white video work presents. The work reinterprets this Chinese myth and legend about perseverance and conviction, blends, and collides with the ancient stories that people have known since childhood and the modern spirit, trying to elicit new thinking.
