Both are well known horror movies who will surprise you.
Both movies contain simmilar characters as both also revolve around the supernatural.
Both are also made by the same producer..

Both pioneered the whole "america remaking asian horror" films in the early 2000s and both are about a vengeful female spirit set out on attacking anyone who crosses them. if you've seen the american version of either films you need to watch the original. they're so much better.

Both deal with curses and have similar themes of a never-ending curse.

It's like a saga..they're both about Sadako..Ring is the first movie, then it goes on with Ring 2, then It's Ring 0, which is like a spin-off, and it seems like they also made a Korean adaptation Ring Virus..and there's also the last untill now, Sadako 3D

Same vibes: both are horror movies from the late 90s / early 00s. Tormented people turned into ghosts looking for answers through technology.

Both are japanese horror mystery movies made in the late 90s that focus on people investigating a series of strange and unexplainable deaths. The characters dive deep into the history and uncover the reason behind these happenings but get roped in a dangerous cycle. Both also slightly tackle family as the characters get so invested in these cases that they start to neglect their family members who are in need of care and risk putting them at danger.
+ eerie atmosphere, abandoned buildings
+ harrowing, ambiguous endings
+ classics

Both of them involves the usage of suspicious tapes and a creepy female "ghost". Overall, I'd also say they have pretty similar atmospheres.
