The documentary captures the pains of the April 16 Sewol ferry disaster that still remains in the island space called Jindo. The people of Jindo have lived with death in their lives throughout time. Due to the nature of the island, they had experiences such as the massacre of the majority of the residents at the time of "Jeongyu Jaeran" (Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1598), and they have a culture of ritual that soothes the unfortunately dead. The bereaved families of the Sewol ferry victims are still unable to leave Jindo. The film shows that the Jindo people console them with all their hearts, and that the shamans comfort lost souls through their unique cultural traditions and rituals. It reminds us that the act of seeing the film is to join Jindo Purification Rite. (Source: JIFF) Edit Translation
