I love this but...
Ok, don't get me wrong. I love this show and would rate it 10/10 except that I don't like obsession stories and a few small details. And I didn't know it would be an obsession story because it wasn't in the description on Viki and I don't watch trailers that often. I am only on episode 5 so maybe I'm getting to ahead with my geusses since this is only 8 eps long but I am starting to get uncomfortable. The probe guy kinda makes me uncomfortable for two main reasons. One. He is kind of creepy. They are setting up the mono to become obssesed but I don't think they need to cause there is already someone obssesed. The probe. 2. He irks me with his pushyness. He knows that the mono wants to stay away from him cos he is scared but the guy doesn't seem to care. It's almost as if he wants the mono to be obssesed with him. It's weird but also cruel to the mono guy.But don't misunderstand,I don't hate him at all and despite my uneasyness about the probe and also where the show is going, i still ship them.
Story:
Not at all what the description says. If that interests you and you want to see that, sorry but this isn't the show. The show is ACTUALLY about a boy slowly becoming obssesed with another boy and how he is becoming the monster he was so scared of becoming. The description makes this show look a lot more romantic than it is. Maybe they kiss in episode 7 or 8 but as of episode 6, all there has been has been sexual tension and times you think they are going to kiss but nope. Strictly semi longing looks. Also I read somewhere that there will be nudity or a possible s*x scene but I don't think so and even if there is, I don't know if there will be consent involved.
Acting:
Great. The boys are both very good and so are the friends and the aunt, from what we have actually seen of her.
Music:
Really pretty but makes me nervous that the ending will be bad.
Rewatch ability:
I think you can but I probably won't. If it ends how I'm almost positive it will then I will not.
Overall:
I watched episode six and the last few minutes genuinely made me feel a bit scared. If you are fine with possible kidnapping and who knows what will come after, then watch it. It is a really good show but if you are like me and are scared of things like that then maybe don't watch. I don't mean to be dramatic but I am legit starting to regret watching this and it's not even over. Again its not a bad show but unless you are prepared and can handle it, wait till its over and google the ending(idk what it is since it is still on air)and decide for yourself if you want to watch it.

Bland storyline
First of all the storyline was a mess, the last episodes were horribly done, the story ended when we were starting to know the main characters, and it wasn't well developed. I was never able to feel a true connection between the leads. The only thing that made me watch it was Yoo Jun's acting and the way he was able to show more emotions with his eyes in just one scene than the other lead in the entire series. I'm not saying that the other lead is a horrible actor, he just lacks experience. The story itself sounds promising but they weren't able to develop it well enough. I'm hoping that season 2 is better because this was such a disappointment. Was this review helpful to you?
doing nothing with a whole lot
there are a lot of writers in drama land who don't understand sci-fi/ fantasy as a genre and ugh does it show. my greatest disappointment is the failure to even touch the potential uses of color.this story is ALL about color but they decided not to use color to tell their story. yes there are a handful of scenes where Yeon Woo is discovering color but the editor/director/ cinematographer never use color by itself to convey ANYTHING about the story. the color tones are pretty much always true to life or greyscale. they even fail to really dig into the greyscale and teach us anything deeper about Yeon Woo.
the most interesting, but least convincing , element of color rush was the Mono/probe dynamic. The explanation is bare and the implementation is inconsistent. it's little more than a plot device and an excuse to use some surprisingly competent CGI. it feels like a waste to have such a potent bit of story in your hands and then not do anything with it, just like the failure to utilize color.
The plot mostly meanders in circles. this makes the stakes feel less urgent and less real until you roll up on one of the many "whoa, that escalated quickly" moments
if you like BL and you enjoy or don't mind the fantasy elements the problems are pretty much self limiting so i'd call that worth a watch.

Interesting concept but a little flat
A very interesting take on a 'soulmate' kind of trope and one that I've never heard of before. The characters were interesting but rather flat. Sometimes the relationship between the two main characters felt a little emotionless or disconnected from each other. Hyun Jun's acting was a little questionable at times but as far as I know, this is his first show so he did pretty well and I'm excited to see him grow as an actor in the future should he act in something else. I liked the concept and the way it was filmed. I liked the relationship between the leads and the way Hyun Jun's character was so patient and caring towards Yoo Jun's and their dynamic was cute. Overall, could've been better but was good drama nonetheless and I'd definitely recommend it.Was this review helpful to you?
I love it and I am frustrated at the same time
Listen, I really loved this story idea and I fell in love with Hyunjun as YooHan in this drama. The way they both start to bond with each other and learn about each others vulnerabilities makes me fall in love with them as a couple. I re-watched Color Rush a million times by now and I gotta say that its one of my favorite bl dramas. The only thing that makes me feel a bit frustrated is that it's only 8 episodes but this is just personal preference. I also often had the feeling (correct me if I'm wrong or misinterpreting) that the actor of yoohan didn't feel comfortable with hugging or kissing yeonwoo. It sometimes felt very stiff and unnatural. This is also something I didn't really enjoy watching sadly. Was this review helpful to you?

Color and Butterflies Rush
I honestly haven't come across a plot like this yet so I was really interested with this story. I gave the story a 10 because it is unique. It was short and I would have loved it if they extended the story further but I guess this is good enough for a Korean BL length.Yoo Jun who plays Choi Yeon Woo is a great actor. And props to Heo Hyun Jun for keeping up too (this guy has the sexiest eyes!). The chemistry is explosive! Them just staring at each other's eyes? Do you feel that? I loved them together.
The show also did well with the cinematography - playing with the colors and all. It's like I can feel Yeon Woo's feelings when he gets to see colors and when he experiences the loss of it. And that OST? Yes please shower us with colors and great music.
I'm not a rewatch person but I'll definitely rewatch this from time to time because I loved it!

An amazing show--- if it had been longer!
I'm so conflicted about this show! I loved the concept, and the characters. The ost was sweet and the cinematography was ON POINT.I just wish it were longer. I know a lot of people complain about this with these short Korean BL shows but hear me out. I didn't feel that way with Mr. Heart (a similarly short BL out of Korea). I felt that the story was well encompassed in the time that was allotted. But Color Rush felt...rushed. There was a LOT of plot crammed into eight 12 - 19 minute episodes, and it just didn't always work. Plus the pacing was a bit erratic - it felt fine through the first half and then the second half of the show felt crammed full of PLOT. Plus there were some loose threads at the end that never seemed to get tied up.
This show definitely would have been better suited to a full 14ish episode season like most other kdramas. It would have given a lot more room for the actors to explore the characters, and for the plot to be spaced out a bit.
All this complaining makes it sound like I disliked this show, but I didn't. At it's best it was sweet, mysterious, dark, and a little sensual. Even at its worst it was a bit confusing but still good. I would definitely recommend watching it, but be warned. You might end up feeling a bit like Yeon Woo after a color rush, LOL.

I Recommend
I actually really enjoyed this drama. I binged it in an afternoon. I can see why some people have problems with it but honestly I just think that comes with web drama territory. It's short, they don't have a lot to work with but its such an interesting plot that adds so much to the BL genre. This plot does deserve a long thought out drama. There is still so much potential and unanswered questions. And yet I really really enjoyed it and enjoyed the layers that the characters had even though there was such a small window to develop them. I think this is a good web drama and great BL. I really wasn't all that bothered by Hyunjun's acting. It's his first ever drama, he is a little stiff, but I enjoyed how he portrayed his character. I think if this was a longer drama he might have been able to really get into the character and find his footing, but that's not the case and I'm still satisfied. I've seen cringier acting in BLs before. Without giving anything away, I think Hyunjun's portrayal is pretty spot on. His character must always feel so disconnected from the real world, I think that comes through in how stiff the acting is. He's good at the playful stuff but when it gets to the more serious stuff he falls a bit flat, but that also felt kind of in character.Bottom line, this drama did leave me wanting for more. I wish it was longer, I wish the episodes were longer. There is still a lot of plot I am curious about. I think there is potential for a season two, but I'm not sure that would happen. Either way I'm happy I watched this. It was a refreshing BL.

Let me just say I know there are millions of shows, millions of movies and I swear I feel like everything has been done already but Color Rush was like fresh air! I was not expecting this show to be as good as I thought it would be....
I tend to say that about a lot of webtoon(?) Web series(?) adaptations lol ah you get what I mean. Lol.
The only thing I didn't like about this show was that it ended. Lol Even though each episode was really short and there weren't that many, I'm shocked they were able to fit in as much as they did. It takes pure talent to pull off telling a complete story like that (IMO).
And can we talk about the characters connections?! I don't think I've ever seen a show where I loved all of the characters and how well they bounced off of each other. Even support roles blew me away. I loved seeing them together. Excuse me while I fangirl in soft mode. Lol
Also was not expecting that plot twist in the last episode. When I say my jaw dropped, it's a understatement. But I loved it though especially since it's a real condition that I feel like not many people know about. I kinda hope it makes people curious and more aware of it.
I really did enjoy this show and really want to rewatch it again already.

this drama was really poorly done
I don't usually write reviews but I'll make an exception. To people who are wondering if you should watch this, I don't recommend it. There are more holes in this plot than stars in the sky. Every single possibly interesting thing they mention leads nowhere, it feels incredibly rushed. Pun intended. The cinematography is awful, the writing is disturbingly bad, and the leads have absolutely no chemistry. If you want to watch it for the ten-second face reveals where Yeon Woo is filled with the power of the rainbow (in more ways than one), go ahead because that's pretty much the only notable thing about this series. And please, Yeon Woo, can you please make up your mind on your opinions? One second you're all "wah I can't be with him I'll hurt him wah", then the next you're "I love you. I barely know you but I love you." like dude, chill. On that note, what was that "plot twist" at the end about? Yoo Han has a sudden inability to recognize faces. Whyyyyy?!! What is the point of including that at the last minute? That is some incredibly lazy writing, my friends.

I liked the cast, they did a great work. The visuals were great but it didn't make the drama more watchable for me. Having a good story is more important. I don't have much to say about the music either, it's not that great but it seemed like their budget was low so it's acceptable.
I will not be rewatching this and I don't think it's worth watching. Maybe if you want something lighthearted and short, then this is something for you. Just be prepared to be disappointed because it's a rushed drama with missing details and no boy love.

I liked it, however, I gave myself too high expectations
This show was probably the drama I've anticipated the most ever. As soon as I saw the article about Hur Hyun Jun starring in a new drama I was so excited because I missed him quite a lot. And the fact that it was a BL drama made me even more excited because I couldn't help but wonder how it would be portrayed. I was so pumped that I even made it my mission to make subtitles for STORYWIZ's YouTube videos so other people could be pumped for it too. However, as I started watching the show, I feared that my anticipating it this much made my expectations too high. Don't get me wrong, I liked the show, but I have to admit that it didn't quite live up to what I thought it would be.The story was innovative. I liked the whole concept of colorblindness and meeting the person who could make you see colors because it's a very fanfiction-like trope. When I first read the description of the drama I thought it was brilliant. I also tend to fall for dramas based on books, so that was also a huge plus for me. I liked Yeon-woo and Yoo-han's dynamics and, boy, did I like the two friends. They made me laugh at all their jokes. It was nice seeing Yeon-woo and Yoo-han's relationship develop over time, but I didn't like how vague they were about it. It was a little weird how they never described how their feelings towards each other developed from platonic to romantic. But they were still adorable and you could see how much they cared for each other. However, I wasn't the biggest fan of Yoo-han having trouble recognizing faces. It makes sense, but I don't feel like it was necessary. I also feel like they swept Yeon-woo's mother under the rug.
As far as acting goes, wow! Yoo Jun is such an incredibly skilled actor! I was so amazed whenever he was on-screen. It was a great call to cast him as the protagonist because I cannot imagine it being portrayed as well by anybody else. You can tell that Yoo Jun has been an actor since childhood. However, as much as it pains me to say this, I wasn't too fond of Hur Hyun Jun's acting. I love him so dearly, but sadly his acting just wasn't up to level with Yoo Jun, which is only fair of course, because it's his first time acting in a drama (which especially can't be easy when it's a BL you're debuting in). But the fact that their acting levels were so different kind of lowered the quality of the drama for me, sadly.
I liked the OST, but I felt it was very overplayed. The title song would appear multiple times throughout the episodes, which just takes up quite a lot of space when the episodes are so short. Both songs from the OST were very nice though. Also, even if I seemed a little negative in my review, I enjoyed the show and would watch it again. I'll miss getting to watch the episodes during my online school breaks.
