It is really hard to rate a near perfect drama!! Some people will miss out on this gem simply because of the episode count. But I can assure that with 32-35 minute episodes, you will be swept into a story that will resonant with you from now on; one that you will use as a template for all future family dramas. The acting by all was superb! The writer promised to present a story without one single drama clique and it was delivered. I got to see the development of a romance from start to finish. Wait, I got to see the development of 3 relationships. The problems they presented made sense. Even the brief noble idiocy moment made sense to me. I never thought I would dismiss that as a necessary evil in the story. The supporting characters, you either loved them or hated them. But that was a testament to how well they acted. Overall, I do not feel that I wasted a moment of my time. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't be surprised if one day down the drama road, I re-watch the entire drama again. Yes, it is that good!!

I think this is my first review so i don't know if it will come out well.. but i'll try.
Where to start? Hum at the beginning i thought it was just a random family Drama that i started to watch because of Im Joo Hwan and Kang So Ra.
After just the first episode i was really interested in the story and then became to love it after some more episodes.

The Cast:I love it all. The child actors were totally amazing in my opinion and i will follow them in the future.
I think every actor has portayed his/her character really well and so i could enjoy the Drama till the end.
There will be characters who will annoy you to the bones but they will make you proud in the end changing themself for the better. You will be there to see how someone can change for the people he/she loves.
I'm not Korean but i could understand what they were saying and doing without subs. The acting is really good and it will make you enjoy this Drama.

Story:
The story tells how different people become a family and have to accept each other.
They will go through dispair, pain to finally find happiness as a family.
They will come to undertsand each other and love each other like a real family should.
They will fight for love and to protect the most loved people in their lives.

Music: I really liked the music finding myself singing without realizing it.
I cried a lot and the sad music was a stab in the back making me cry more XD
One of my favourite was No Matter What They Say by Yang Mi Jin.

Why watch this Drama? It will make you feel all the emotions the characters feel,it will make you understand people more,it will teach you a lot of things you'll need in life..

If you start watching it you won't stop.
It's TOTALLY WORTH IT.

I never thought that I would ever rate a drama of 100+ episodes "10/10".

I mean that's hardly impossible. Usually, long dramas must contain few boring episodes. But this is an exception.

PPL WHILE WATCHING THIS DRAMA I WAS ALWAYS THINKING WHY DID NO ONE RECOMMEND THIS ONE TO ME?!

- The story is unique and addicting (will get you attracted from the very first episode to the very last). All the stories(including sub-stories) are interesting and never fails to entertain you. 133 episodes and you won't skip a minute.

- The acting is really good that whenever they cry, I do. Whenever they laugh,I laugh as well. The romance is so effin attracting that you can't get enough of it. Drama's love never touched my heart like this one did. I envied such a love.

- The music is catchy. Not the best but it really fits every scene.

- Even though a 133 episodes and I never rewatched a drama, I think that one day, I will re-watch this one.

- Overall I give it a 10 without a second thought. You hear me ppl, A FUCKING 10!

P.S anyone who misses it or ignore it because it's a 100+ drama, then you missed a MASTERPIECE.

Hard to believe a drama that has 133 episodes could be rated a 10 - but this is almost a perfect drama lol
It never dragged or got boring, each episode had it's own excitement - the story progressed very nicely. There was one character I hated but he never got on my last nerve like some characters in dramas do (a.k.a My Daughter the Flower killer girl) - even though he was a hateful character - you just somehow knew he couldn't win...This drama is filled with optimism and looking at a persons best along with the worst - to see the human - it's truly beautiful <3 I loved every other character on this drama (well...maybe a few episodes in the beginning I wasn't that fond of Do Hui's step-mom but I warmed up to her later; & Ju Yeong's mom was a bit irritating until the last 10-15 episodes where I started to like her too -) I didn't much care for Jin Ju & Chul Su - she annoyed me a LOT in the earlier episodes & he to be honest wasn't much of a 'man' he was too wimpy. I loved Na Ri - she was adorable throughout the entire drama <3 I loved 4 characters the most: Jun Su, Do Hui, Hyeon Suk & Ju Yeong - I didn't know much about HS or JY early on so I was really fond of JS and DH but somewhere into the drama I started to like HS and JY a little more than the other 2 characters lol and oh boy does Hyeon Suk ever look really handsome when he smiles (it lights up his whole face) <3 oh and I Loved the 'teacher' In Joo (?) she always looked like a fashion statement lol - she was pretty funny too ;)
Music: Really good - I can remember about 4-5 songs :D
Re-watch Value: 8.5 - I would love to re-watch it again - but it is a bit long - I may skip around if I do ;)

This review may contain spoilers
Story:

I quite like the story of the drama. It basically based upon family life, sacrifices and circumstances. Throughout the entire series, it focuses on highlighting the different sacrifices that the child who became the head of the family after the incident and what he has done to avert convict for his brother. Decisions, decisions and decisions is another topic in which this covers. The reason for this is because for every decision, there will always be an effect. You will never know if it’s a positive or negative effect. You MUST watch this drama from the very beginning in order to understand what is going on. Every details is supported about their pass which provide the information and scenes that the viewer would want. Also, assumptions is not a good idea for this drama. To be honest with you, I assume that they can overcome it very easy with no complication. Unfortunately, I misjudge the entire part. I basically never read the plot of any dramas that I watch. This is because for me the plot is basically the spoiler of the series, I really hate spoilers especially for length of dramas.
In contrast, the romance side of this drama is very exceptional. Like family complication, they also shows the difficulties and complications of love stories. I am actually moved on the romance storyline of this drama. The reason for this is because it is not the typical “we are now together, no problems and lets live a happy live” which is mostly use as the ending of most dramas. However, there is a silver lining for each romantic couples of drama in which the viewer needs to understand and watch. In order for them to understand, they must start from the very start from how they meet, where the spark happen, their difficulties and how they have overcome it. I would say that for the romantic genre of it, there is no disappointment. This is because if you look at the romance parts, it is very stimulating to watch, yet entertaining.
I would say that the only drawback for this drama is that it is very long. However, it is quite worth it I would say. If you want family, romance and melodrama series, this is a very good to watch. You will clearly see these genre throughout it. On the other side, the storyline is good to the point that all entangled family life will be in good condition.

Casts/ Acting:

The casts and their acting performance were outstanding. Even though I clearly did not do a casting check with the drama, they were actually performed very well. If you watched it, you will see that they are all very experience actor/actress. Their way on expressing their emotions on the series is excellent in which it makes you feel the scene. I know it sounds corny, but it is actually true. After you understand what is going on, you will understand why I would say this to be honest. The casts chosen are excellent, it is clearly that we would want to look forward to their other individual drama (especially the rookies). I do not know why, I actually like the antagonist of the drama. This is because you will actually hate him a lot and how jealousy end up with anger, hatred, conviction and envy. I actually would not make any more comments with the casts. The reason behind this is because once you see the drama you will complete disregard their history and focus on the story and how they portray their character.

Conclusion:

I would say that after watching it all, I will re-watch it, but only the parts that are memorable. This involves love scenes and developments, the family story and even their complication. I specifically ignore the business side of the drama. This is because it is a bit dull and tiresome to watch. I would not recommend it to watch again from the very beginning because it will take you time. Therefore, I specifically want the plotline and how the story develop as well as the casts chosen.

Why should you watch this drama? Well, because it's good - not enough? Allow me to expand further.

First off, do not let a terrifying episode count of 133 scare you. Every episode for this drama was spent well - avoiding the cliche fillers - and sticking to only including scenes that would push the story forward. This drama has a very wonderful tale to tell, and is has done so beautifully in the span of 133 episodes.

Moving on to the acting/cast, I would first mention that I did not recognize many of the them [the cast]. This, however was not at all a terrible thing. Their lack of recognizability (on my part) gave me the chance to fully immerse myself in the roles they played. The casts' performances were above satisfactory, and I could only say that it left me bewildered - as their roles/characters have made such an imprint on me, that it has made it difficult to see them as someone else.

The music in this drama was used during the appropriate times, and the actual songs used are very good.

Lastly, I leave with this:
i. DO watch Ugly Alert, for it is a heartwarming story, with scenes that will make you both laugh, and cry.
ii. DON'T watch Ugly Alert, if you cannot handle a long series - or if you're a binge watcher (because every episode of this drama will surely leave you wanting to watch more!)

This is the longest drama I have ever watched. I have a short attention span so that can tell you a lot about the quality and delivery of this 133 episode drama. The longest, I've ever seen was a 21 episodes. This drama, from start to finish, was gold. Sure it had its boring moments or ridiculous moments. Or, what-the-heck-now moments. But really, the relationships, the romance, it was fantastic.
The drama knows how to space its angst.
I really like that we don't have to wait forever for some resolution. The drama didn't draw out the crisis for longer than necessary. They introduce many interesting side plots and secrets and I liked being able to jump on board those and get curious about the answers to those problems.

Jun Su's character. How can a person be so beautiful? I think on any other actor he would have been too goody-shoes for me. But the personality is so sincere and good-hearted. I was convinced that he was actually like that.
Jun Su is such a sweetheart. He and his father are such a pair. They are both gentle, obliging and doing anything to please. Jun Su constantly works to prove his value and his new family becomes his sole goal in life.

“You did not come into this family as a housewife.”

Even the slightest acceptance makes him happy.
He is very considerate of others.
I like that he's a bit of an old man in a young boy's body the way he tells off his elders. He is very responsible.
His purpose in life is to provide for his family so no matter what he's doing, if he's in pursuit of that, he's happy. There's the confidence the viewers have in Jun Su that he's going to be just fine because he's resourceful and works hard.
I haven't wanted to cry for a drama for a long time. By episode 4...waaah.
When they made the switch to adulthood, I thought my heart would burst with the feels. Jun Su is just like his childhood self. Generous and innocent and unassuming until you mess with his family. If you think Jun Su as a kid is adorable, he's even more cuter when he's old. How is that even possible? Oh the adorbs!
It is really amazing how the drama comes up with a million different ways that Jun Su demonstrates how obsessed he is with his family. He is so old-fashioned the way his whole life is his family.
Jun Su is the epitome of the Korean concept of sincerity.

“Feels like he is from the country yet it also feels like he knows the city.” That is Jun Su. He is naive but he has a strong sense of justice and he's really smart so he doesn't get tricked into any kind of deception. The wonderful thing about Jun Su is he really knows what he wants to do with his life. He doesn't make mistakes and has no regrets for any of his decisions.
I think one of my favourite sides to Jun Su was his salesman side. He's an impressive guy.
He has the most perfect face when he's hurt but trying to hide it.
I was quite amazed at how the siblings aggression towards Jun Su switched from anger to him to anger at themselves from the guilt of what they've done to him. It was strange how they accepted that their mother was his mother even as they maintained the lack of blood between them.

Ahjussi was pretty boring but he had one great line. “Did this guy's personality just change so suddenly? He fails an exam and he suddenly turns into Marlon Brando.”

Romance
“I only have to look into your eyes and I am filled with confidence.” What a lovely way to describe it. Romance at its best.
No matter how you see it, Im Jo Hwan is a beautiful man.

I liked that the pair weren't childhood sweethearts.
He has no wiles.
It's charming to see Jun Su who is just the most simple and straightforward man you could ask for fall in love with a woman so twisted up in knots. Do Hui isn't simple and kind like Jun Su. She's much more real. But to Jun Su, she is a fairytale.
It was sweet to see how gentle she could be with Jun Su.
I was surprised to see that when they do start dating, Jun Su is more comfortable with her and so he starts speaking his mind about some things. So it's funny that he is kinder to her when they're not dating.
But I loved seeing the delight on Do Hui's face when she laid eyes on Jun Su.

Cheol Su
I thought it was an interesting decision to have this sort of personality next to Jun Su. Cheol Su is a puppy. Adorable in a very shallow and immature way. Weird to think he is older than Hyeon Seok.
When Jin Ju kicks this little puppy, he suddenly becomes a man.

Do Hui
“What game?”
“Feels like you are seeing all the ways I can reject you.”
She's a tough character but in the face of Jun Su's chivalrous naivete it's so great to see her get a bit melty. And because of his tight-lipped nature about his past she gets super curious.
I like that even though she wasn't originally a bitch she became just that much softer from knowing Jun Su.

Jin Ju
“I am someone who doesn't deserve a dream.”
Jun Su's new sister is very prickly and Jun Su does anything to keep her as non-aggressive as possible. While it made me sad to see him treated that way, his eagerness and diplomacy in maintaining the relationship makes me feel appeased.
Jin Ju is the bad guy for a while. She really is the only problem in the beginning of the drama. As the drama continues, we get to know more of her thoughts and I liked understanding her better.
I felt sorry for her. That she has lived such a sucky life but she is to blame. She just regrets her actions all the time. She is the opposite of Jun Su in every way, huh?
Jin Ju is really hard on herself.
The drama did such a good job of making her into a person.
It's really interesting to see how bitterly she carries her burden of the family and how she herself struggles to keep them together.
She is angry so often that it can be surprising when she shares her heart. And she really proves how much she loves Na Ri in an incredible way.
I thought it was hilarious that they gave her such a quirky love interest.

Ju Yeong
This girl has the most beautiful expressive face. I like her diverse sides. She's loyal to her mother, really cute and often nice, even though she is immature. There were some moments that I was only watching the drama just for her. She is amazing actress with a lot of range and I found her compelling to watch.

Hyeon Seok
“My oppa, even on a deserted island with three people, criminals and a woman. He would only know to chase the criminals.”

Despite his sister's words, Hyeon Seok knows how to kiss. Oh yes!
I liked that Hyeon Seuk had to find his own identity apart from his sister and he had to know what he stood for.
He becomes a very serious young man who doesn't like games. But he loves Na Ri still which is awesome.
And how great was it when Jun Su came back around that he started coming out of his shell.
I really like how Hyeon Seok can relax around Jun Su and really joke with him and share that special connection with his hyung. It's so amazing how the serious and immovable Hyeon Seok will listen to Jun Su. Because Jun Su is so non-judgmental. Always supporting. I love how he lets Hyeon Seok find himself and how he pays attention to what Hyeon Seok is really saying.
Hyeon Seok says about Jun Su - “My brother is the one person in the world that I envy the most.”

Na Ri
Gong. Na. Ri. The biggest feels. “Big oppa, although by saying these words, small oppa will be jealous. Big oppa, to me, you are my mother, my father and you are my soul.”
Boom. Redeemed. Jun Su gave his life for that girl.
Her chemistry with her oppa was amazing.
I did not have a lot of feeling for her but when they recapped her history with Jun Su, my heart broke all over again.
I loved that she didn't want to let him down.

One of the best dramas out there. The year 2013 was really the best for.kdrama. don't know why but the best I've seen so far are from 2013. The story is so powerful and the characters are so well written and well acted. But the rithem with the love story and sacrifice together with the acting is the best. One of the best acting is the ltitle sister "man I need a sager like her" well played and well acted. So cure in fact. The other is the kindness in the series for the main character. It shows that there is hope and the love for the brothers and sisters are profound

I am on episode 37 right now.

Indeed, people will miss this drama out, simply because of long episodes 133 episodes, which surprisingly and strange, I dont mind at all.

I am also dying when Jun Soo's secret will be revealed ? when the Gong siblings will finally realize that Jun Soo didnt do the murder ?

Frankly speaking, I watch Ugly Alert because of Im Joo Hwan, and get attracted with Kang So Ra.

Indeed, this is a must-watch !

A journey worth coming along

What a JOURNEY! My first kdrama over 100 episodes! Last 2 long forms shows I saw were "Five Enough" and "My father is strange". This show is definitely up there with them.

The romances are well paired, the antagonists have good motives and the plot is progresses properly.

Because it's a daily soap, you'll see cliffhangers at the end of every episode, the choices of characters will not make much sense and will result in countless frustrating and hair pulling moments. But the ending is so fluffy and good, you will forgive everything.

I really wanted the show to start with the main storyline from the get go, but they have kind off a prologue for 8 episodes. It doesn't feel like it's necessary , BUT these episodes make the whole show so beautiful, especially during the end, it's almost magical.

They took everything people hate and coalesced it into the antagonist. And you WILL DEFINITELY hate him. Mark my words , they did a good job there.

The romance is SOOOOO fluffy. Especially with the main leads. You root for the second leads very hard too, but mains do take the crown.

133 episodes, I will never forget. I hope more people discover this show.

I actually don't mind watching dramas with 100+ episodes and i also saw some positive comments about the drama . I think if the drama was 50 episodes I would have given it a 10 . It started dragging around the 54th episode and i kinda lost interest . I was determined to finish it , i started skipping a lot of the parts . Its a typical Makjang drama but its worth a watch . But what I found interesting about this drama were the main couple. the typical korean drama has a male lead who is highly arrogant , rich , and egoistic and the female lead being poor, having a dark past and might be an orphan . But in this drama its the
complete opposite xD it was actually funny to see the contrast in this drama .

Brilliant story....I liked it so much

PROS:
1-Emotional and heartwarming
2-Leads perfectly played their roles.
3-Happy Ending

CONS:
1-Too long
2-Became predictable last episodes.

At last most of Family dramas are very good and this one is really good loved the relations and sacrifices happened between the lovers and the family.
Although it is long but it is way better than watching other normal annoying dramas so it's not waste of time if you r planning anyway to watch dramas.

HOPE you enjoy it :-)
