Hype for what ???
Honestly, I have dropped this series, not that it's bad, but it's just so slow phased. The storyline is somewhat normal for me. There was nothing much to expect from this series, but the scenes, and the way the series was shot, the casting, and all were good. But at the end, I had to drag myself to watch this series even till ep 6 and then eventually I had to give up. Normally romance genre are hard for me to watch bcoz the story line is normally repeated with a twist here and there. With the given hype thought of watching it and then I got disappointed. It's just not my cup of tea. But if you are someone who loves romantic genre you may like it.Let's live, Let's Love and hope you enjoy your time by doing what you love 🫶

Physical Abuse is Wrong Regardless of Gender or Excuse
**This is just my opinion. I truly appreciate all of the hard work and dedication that went into the production of this drama. Thank you.**This is less a review than me stating my objection to yet another female lead character abusing her love interest and it somehow being okay. I refuse to watch any more episodes.
First though, I have to say that the cast is very talented. I especially enjoyed Kim Seon-ho as Hong Du sik and Lee Sang-yi and Ji Seong-hyeon. It was produced well and has a pretty soundtrack.
The problems for me lie in the characters and story. It took me many tries to get through the first episode and until the fourth before I held out any hope for it to improve. The female lead character, Hye-jin, does always have a sense of integrity, even though I find it lacking. She is vain, shallow, pretentious, unfriendly and rude while also managing to occasionally be generous and kind. The male lead, Hong Du-sik, is a jack of all trades who bends over backwards to help everyone, is incredibly friendly and kind. I hated that she behaved so ungratefully towards Du-sik when he put so much effort into helping her. She improved some only to ruin it when they finally became a couple in episode 11. She didn't want the other villagers to gossip if they found out that she and Du-sik were dating so she physically assaulted him to "disguise" their physical closeness. It was ridiculous and so incredibly wrong. The writers didn't have her just hide or even shove him, though that would be wrong too. No, first she slapped him hard across the face to disguise wiping something off of his face. Then she kicked him so hard in the shins that she knocked him down and he was still hurting later. Later the same day she followed that up with head butting him and giving him a bloody nose. Seriously, what is wrong with them? How could any of that be okay or funny?
I almost wrote that I had an issue with him for taking it and stopped myself. It is never the victim's fault, even in a drama. His character is kind and a pleaser. It makes it that much more wrong for them to write it that way. What kind of message are you sending? People watch these shows and it affects how the behave or believe about themselves. There is already far too much physical violence towards loved ones in dramas. Some might argue that the things she did weren't that big of a deal. I couldn't disagree more. He was completely blameless. The things she did hurt him physically and emotionally. There's no excuse that can justify it. I don't understand the need to put that kind of thing into this drama. What purpose was it suppose to serve? She could have said he had something smeared on his face, etc.
After watching those scenes I didn't want to watch any more. That's just me.

Best way to fall a sleep
From the start I had high expectations for this drama but as time went by it felt bland and boring like episode 6 when there was an event in the village, it felt very cringy when they were forced to go up on stage and dance. I thought this was an exciting drama when I wanted to start this drama but it seemed like my expectations were too high, I yawned a lot and was sleepy in several episodes. I don't know why overhyped dramas are always boring, unlike dramas with ratings that aren't too high, which are usually more exciting and promising. this drama could be a good introduction/sleep medicine lmao. Was this review helpful to you?
Fresh story line, but extremely annoying and childish female lead
Since seeing the poster and the name of this new drama I got very interested. The title is pretty original and meaningful - it reminds of the funny dialog the two main leads had.The first episode succed to get me into it. The retrospection after it, showing how Yoon Hye Jin got into this place and mess with the villagers was also prosecuted well. I didn't liked the 5th episode though. It was exactly copy-paste of the 1th one. The writer could have done better, same as the drama director. A cool effect going back in the 1th episode, without going again through all we've already watched could've been better, but still I can understand that maybe they wanted to continue the story line more natural so they did it this way.
In the episode 6 I got very disappointed though by the acting of the main female lead - Yoon Hye Jin. I'm not referring to her actual drama acting, but the character she is portraying.
By the story we got introduced in the begging, Yoon Hye Jin is mature, strong woman that went through quite a lot during her life. She was acting pretty ignorant and cold, but still was trying to be polite and hold herself back on some terms.
Of course after getting close to Hong Du-Sik she opend herself little to the people living in the village and to him, BUT I just can't understand how she got in episode 6. For me it was such a turn point. I dont understand why the writter decided to portray the main female lead so childish and unreasonable. Getting so petty over something that happened when you were drunk and showing that so passively aggressive on many ocassions in the presense of the other villagers doesn't suit a woman at that age, with this kind of profession and past. I couldn't help but compare her with the teenage daughter of Mr. Oh Chun-Jae. Both of them were in a way on the same level of immaturness.
I understand that she is still young at heart and we witness many sences where Yoon Hye Jin got emotional and cried, but still I personally can't handle such a mindset and behavior. It might be just my rational view and taste.
The main male lead on other hand - Kim Sun-Ho (playing Hong Du-Sik) is doing his job pretty well. I like his character. He is still pretty mysterious, but I can't help, but to fall for his sence of humor and straightforwardness. I'm looking forward when we will get the chance to watch his story and what he is actually coping with silently.
The person whom I was so happy to see in this drama was Kim Young-Ok. I loved her in all her previous dramas, I love her here too. She is portraying such a lovely old lady, who unfortunately carries her emotional luggage too - her bad relationship with her son. But the author compensated her in a way making Hong Du-Sik so kind and attached to her. Their interactions together are always bringing smile to my face and warm sensation to my heart.
All of the villagers are having their own story and a past that still is hunting them. I'm happy that the writer and the director are giving them fair screen time so by watching them grow and heal, the viewer can experience the cathartic feeling too.
Its refreshing when they switch from one hard scene to another light and bright one.
Overall the plot is good, I do like it so I'm not gonna stop supporting the drama and I'm goint to keep watching it.
I'm still hoping that it will grow more one me by the time when the rest of the episodes will be released. Same as Shin Min-A's character.

Hometown Cha Cha Cha is a refreshingly feel good series.
Hometown Cha Cha Cha is a refreshingly feel good series. Maybe it's still too early to say since I've just watched four episodes out of sixteen but this gives me a feel good vibe that helps me clear my head away from the chaotic new normal we have now. The way things are going on, it's very refreshing to go away and take a break but it still impossible to do that, good thing that the setting of this light drama with a sweet comedy is a seaside village with a panoramic view. I could only imagine the breeze brushing off all my worries and pains! As expected the dimpled duo has a perfect chemistry on screen, Kim Seon-ho still carries his good boy charm (remnants of Start-up) plus a silly child-like but cute beam (reminds me of Waikiki 2) whenever he watches Shin Min A from afar. The way he smiles when he looks at Hye Jin from afar makes me feel tiny pinches inside my chest. Hye Jin's character is a fussy city girl who really needs a character redevelopment and let us just watch how the Jack-of-all-trades Du-sik is going to help her repair her flaws. The village peeps also reminds me of the quirky gang of "corn salad" Vincenzo of how they unite and stay loyal to their peers which was shown when someone from their village has been through an "accidental" ego attack.
This drama is like a seafood platter with a variety of flavor. Can't wait for the next episode.

Make the time to watch it - it's worth it
My only regret with HCCC is that I didn't see it when it was broadcast live. It's healing theme, especially during the pandemic would have been more therapeutic than any medication offered. This show has everything a viewer could want - Terrific cast; Great chemistry between all characters; Well-developed supporting cast characters who blend into the story seamlessly; great visuals; believable story-line, etc...
Our leads really play well off each other and their wariness of their feelings was so realistic and well depicted. She is a handful, and quite the opposite of him, something they both acknowledged. And his issues and baggage did not bring the story down but created the challenges for her to respond to.
I'm sure this theme has been done before, and will be in the future (Welcome to Samdal-ri?) but I can't imagine another show doing it better.
Rewatchable? HELL, YES!
Thanks TvN & Netflix for giving us such a beautiful and funny story.

I can't stop thinking about this story!
The chemistry between the two lead roles in this romantic comedy show is truly remarkable. Their on-screen connection feels so genuine and effortless, which adds an extra layer of charm and believability to their characters' relationship. The way they play off each other's energy is beautiful. The cinematography is absolutely breathtaking! It seamlessly blends with the narrative, enhancing the storytelling without overpowering it.
Each and every supporting role is fantastic! Whether it's through their playful banter, heartfelt moments, or even their comedic timing, their chemistry shines through in every scene. An absolute must watch!

I loved everything.
The main leads were AWESOME.
ESPECIALLY Kim Seon-how's acting. He done the job perfectly. I felt everything, his character hit me so deep, simply he became one of my all time favorite actors. I will watch everything he's in.
Believe me when I say you will not regret if you chose to watch this drama, it delivers everything from romance to comedy to some darker tones, I don't wanna spoil but believe me it is so satisfying. And the other characters are well developed, at the beginning I didn't like them but through the show I grew to love them. Everything was perfect.

My all time fav. Mature, light and deep
Actors - the ML looks like he has years of experience in theatre. He is wonderful at capturing emotions and making it look effortless. He is the star of this drama. The FL fits the cheeky role perfectly. It seems like it was written for her. All the supporting characters have a special place in my heart. ❣️My only problem with the ML's character is that he doesn't have any real character flaw. The FL is written better
Plot - The plot is simple. Its about finding a new life in the Countyside. However, it deals with some very very serious issues like lookism, classism, suicide, insecurity, loss of loved ones, old age problems etc. In a way that doesn't make the drama serious at all but definitely touches your heart deeply.
Chemistry- the male lead has a great Chemistry with no t just the FL but everyone in this drama 😁❣️ and you're gonna love that. The FL's character growth remains my favorite part of the drama.
Overall, its a 10/10 for me.

I CANT DESCRIBE THE PERFECTION
There are some times when I don't want to think alot while watching a drama, thinking about theories, watching dramatic conflict, or the puzzles we have to solve in a drama. This drama is an option for people who are in this phase. Located in a very beautiful place with ocean scenery, this drama really refresh my eyes and the warmth of Hong Dusik. This serial also has moral and life values through the sayings of the elderlies who also take part in the story. Romance and comedy blended so well in this. This would be a good option to watch and I won't be bored to rewatch this. Was this review helpful to you?
