The most ridiculous drama
This is the most ridiculous drama I ever watched. The memory loss once is already ridiculous and lasted 11 episodes before he regain his memory. Then when he regained his memory, but lost the last 3 months memory. What a stupid plot. Looks like there is a memory switch.. Lol. Then the ridiculousness of the step mother than refuses to moved out. The worst is the contradiction plots, excuses and dumb reasoning by PDD and LYK after he regained his memory but loss the last 3 months memory that makes your blood boils. I am not sure how the writer can write such a story.... Childish and utterly ridiculous. Was this review helpful to you?
Give it a try.
This is how you spoil a good story. It started with a very excellent theme, making all the audience debate, what is good, what is not, what is right where it's wrong..
Most of the audience were holding a lamp for the MC main couple.. only to be thrown cold water on the face...
They added unnecessary twist and trauma to the story completely destroying to the point that most of them skipped many episodes..
If not for the main couple and the child actors
I bet not even a minute audience would have watched this classic drama turned into super nonsense...
5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
For the all three child actors
41/2 ⭐⭐⭐⭐
For the main couple
And step mom, the only character who was consistent..
And also to the actress who played the main negative character.
I hated all the use less excessive trash they added to the story
What i expected is
The three siblings bonding with the FL,
The FL helping the aloof father to take more responsibility of the kids, she doing justice to her job.
The mother less kids and abandoned FL sharing and caring for each other, and kids getting the motherly love.
And ML respecting her and liking her finally loving her.
I also expected both the lead with initially hesitate, thinking about their age, status etc but will over come and finally become a family
But what i got was
All was going well..
Then there was sara
Then came real mom
Sara still there
Then amnesia
Sara continues
Then the real mom is greedy
Then again sara is doing something
Real mom tries to kidnap
Real mom is discovered
Sara in hiding
Sara returns
Main couple busted
FL locked up
break up
Sara strikes back
Sara
Sara
Sara
Sara
Sara busted
Break up
Reconciliation of every one
The the end
Finally..it's ok to give a try just for the kids

It was a frustrating fun watch if you adjust youre expectations.
This is my first time watching a 50+ ep drama, I usually only watch dramas no longer than 16-22 (and my first weekend drama) and I'm slightly amazed at the amount of people that are suprised this was not that good. I mean did you read the summary of this thing? Did that sound like the most original, plot driven drama of 2021 to you? Because to me it felt like something i read ages ago back when i was a teenager in Fanfiction . net im sorry. Im guessing (based on the comments) that most of the frustration comes from that amnesia plot which lets be honest WAS really annoying. But overall I feel like this delivered exactly what it promised to be TO ME. Now I am from latinamerica (Panama) -where this show is doing BIG NUMBERS- and im going to easily explain why that is. This feels exactly like a telenovela. Im not even kidding, up until early 2010s this was the way telenovelas would go. So to anyone who has sat through a whole 100+ episodes of a telenovela of that time, then they can easily walk through this. I think Netflix knew exatly what they were doing when they put this out. Earlier this year a telenovela remake of the 1990s (meaning it HAD all the usual cliches and stupid misunderstandings) called "CAFE CON AROMA A MUJER" did big numbers too (not to mention old telenovelas are always on the top 10). So this could be another niche market netflix might be soft focusing on and another way to introduce korean dramas to the general public. Would not be surprised if we see more of these dramas released in Netflix this year.Well what did I enjoy about this? I felt that some actors were more than decent so much so that I wondered why some of them read the script and said yes im going to waste my talent in this?
Special mention 1: President Lee Young Guk (Ji Hyun-woo). Why? he was good. A little too stiff in the beginning but as the episodes go by he feels more comfortable with the kids and Dan Dan. Dont know if this is the usual for weekend dramas but there was a lot of crying, which was annoying at times, but im not that used to see the male lead cry as easy and as much as President Lee did and it looked very natural. He does need to work on his indoor voice though other than that i liked how much of a gentle giant he was with Dan dan, a total simp. As a character though he was frustrating....LIKE VERY FRUSTRATING. The amnesia plot was frustrating too but at the same time it was kinda fun getting to see a 22 year old president fall in love again with dan dan which adds to the whole he really loves her idea AND he was way more honest and fun. When it got annoying again he went back to 41 year old president so it was all good UP UNTIL THE VERY END WHEN THAT CRAZY WOMAN MADE SOME CRAZY ALLEGATIONS THATS WHEN I LOST IT.
Special Mentionn 2: Park Dan Dan( Lee Se Hee). This one i get why she took the job shes a lesser known rookie actress and this was a good(?) way to get her face known. GIRL i hope they kept a water bottle close to you at all times while shooting because the amount of TEARS you had to shed Im AMAZED you didnt suffer from dehydration. Park Dan Dan was the strongest (stupidest?) soldier because i wouldnt have been able to push through so MANY rejections. Her character was not one I loved but somehow she made me root for her and thats all thanks to Se Hee. Who SOMEHOW made her likeable to me. Dont ask me what it is. I read shes in D.O's new drama so I hope she gets to show her true abilities in that one.
Special Mention 3: THE KIDS!!!!!! EVERYONE HAS TO AGREE THE BIGGEST FORCE OF THIS SHOW WERE THE CHILDREN. I had seen the girl already in The king's affection and she blew me away there. She wasnt as present as the youngest ones but always showed up when needed. Se jeon and Se chan were the CUTEST. I cant explain how much i loved the show thanks to them.
Quick distinction: Anna Kim (Lee Il Hwa) The only mother who deserved forgiveness IMO because seriously what was wrong with the mothers here?!?!?! , Jo Sa Ra (Park Ha Na) she made me hate her guts no more explanation needed.
Also this drama, for its quality, had a great OST.
What I disliked. WELL theres A LOT. It was wayy too predictable and while some actors did a good job overall others DID NOT.
I was constantly wondering if the scriptwriter had some mama issues because the mothers here are some of the worst ive ever seen.
Oh and people said that the first 15 episodes were the best and i only agree a little because to me everything was moving along too fast so i wouldve change that and let those plot lines develop a little more and take up more episodes so that they didnt need that amnesia plot at all or not have it take up that many episodes.
I was baffled by the fact that we didnt get to see our happy couple that much in the end. they were focusing on everything BUT the main couple in ep 49is to the half of ep 51 which i found wierd because they were FINALLY together after everything.
To be honest i skipped some parts specially the ones were Sara was and there were too many relatives, everyone was related to somebody and it ended even more twisted because of the marriages. so that was weird.
In the end this series became an addiction, I enjoyed its ridiculousness and cliches The kids were a delight to watch and though I hated the "kissing scenes" the chemistry between Ji Hyun-woo and Lee Se Hee was THERE, they were the cutest together. So while im not rating this very high nor do I think this is THE drama. It is and easy and halfly enjoyable watch when you are looking for something simple to follow. And YES I think might watch this again some time in the future. as crazy as that sounds.

Why did i spend so much of my time on this...?
I must say that the storyline of this drama is pretty crappy, with repeating scenes/plots. I did complete it because I was too curious about what would happen next. The actors saved the shit writing and the score I gave. I still feel like it was a great waste of my time, with that said please refrain from watching this mess. There are a lot better dramas. It could've ended in half the time, all 52 eps are extremely unnecessary... simply watch the first 16 and the last 5 and you're good. That's it.Was this review helpful to you?
A Love Story with a lot of family drama.
The appeal of older man/younger relationships being told for dramas may not be your cup of tea but Young Lady and Gentlemen follows the story of Park Dan Dan and Lee YoungGuk's trivial and complicated love. In between there you have a list of family drama that just seems to never end. What I became most frustrated with in this drama was the story telling. The writers came up hearth breaking situations that didn't actually depict relatable emotions. There were a lot of unnecessary anger and frustration with character developments, character relationships and even plots that just made no sense. What started off promising and to a good start eventually became a train wreck. The most controversial piece about this drama was the relationship between Park Dan Dan and her father who had practically raised her after his wife abandoned them. He was very over protective of his daughter and went out of his way to disregarded the life that she practically made for herself after leaving home. The romance in the drama bloomed for almost everyone but Park Dan Dan and YoungGuk which really delayed story progression over time. Yet the moments when we found the leads together always wanted us craving more. There were times in this drama that really made it painful to watch because of the story taking a "twist" that shouldn't have ever existed. All in all I could understand the story that the writers were trying to relay, I just think the writers did a bad job relaying them. Overall, this drama did keep me coming back week after week and I think it was mainly due to the main leads interest into one another. I craved for more romantic scenes and more deepening conversations about Young Guk's past/Dan Dan's past and their relationship actually blooming through the midst of chaotic family drama but unfortunately we didn't get that. I don't think I'll re-watch this drama.

LOTS OF AMUSING COINCIDENCES
I'd say I'm recently liking watching Korean dramas. I like the heartwarming feel, the humour and the drama combined. Mostly because of their short episodes.I remember my mom watching Mexican and American soaps for months or even years, because of long episodes and never ending seasons.
This one though, is kind of long for a Korean series compared to the other few Korean series I've seen at Netflix mostly with just 16 episodes.
Plot wise, kind of interesting but overdone at the most and tend to drag and be cliched. It's to be expected of long episode series, so it's understandable. Some writers' imagination and creativity tend to get too far sometimes to the point of getting ridiculous. Acting wise, South Korean actors are always great except for the shouting and hitting.
Issues above, I'm good with them considering this is a long series. What I couldn't get past, is the over the top number of coincidences. Coincidences are real yes, but up to a certain extent.
South Korea is a big country. How in the world most characters are interconnected mostly by blood connection in one setting, in one plot, in most circumstances, is quite hard to believe. What a small world for these characters.
Main and supporting characters fit the roles except for the mother of Ms Jo, the one who manages the rich household. I've seen this beautiful lady in another mother role and she was fit in the role of an elegant sophisticated lady. In here, it's kind of awkward to watch her in her role. Though certain acting and scenes are awkward and dragging to watch, I'm okay with them.
Overall another yet heartwarming, feel good series.

VERY INSPIRING
I am in remission over my Cancer Stage 3 for the past one over year. Everyday I never fail to watch Korean Dramas & Movies (Genres especially: Cancer, Reincarnation, Fantasy, Romance). I was tested positive for the Covid-19 and now in isolation the 4th day. I live alone and I'll probably go crazy without the dramas and movies to help me go through daily. Seniors with such medical problems, living alone, etc.. we need help with words of encouragement and watching the shows happily. In fact I have used your your website and dramacool since I left Singapore in 2004 and live in China. I return for good because of Covid-19 and unfortunately diagnose with the Cancer in September 2019. I want to express my gratitude to all of you to help me get my fear and loneliness. God will bless us all.Was this review helpful to you?
Moving on!
Having a hard time with this one. The fighting, hair-pulling, jealousy, greed, let's submarine the FL are just a bit much. Now enter theft and amnesia. Thirty more episodes of bad behavior by adults is pretty boring. The story line could have gone in a different direction where the ML and FL find their way in a less tumultuous fashion. We haven't even gotten to the Mother/Daughter issue yet. I guess that will be at lesst 10 episodes. This could have been wrapped up in 20 episodes or less. Sorry, but you lost this viewer. Was this review helpful to you?

The wasted potential......
This drama had so much potential, but the dragging made it unwatchable. Amnesia twice? Seriously?I made the decision to watch this drama since I adore the childcare subgenre. I was hooked in the beginning, but the drama's ongoing repetition made me want to stop watching. At some point, the plot became quite predictable, because it was like watching the same thing over and over again. I like how they tackled some cultural standards (Age gap relationships), but I find it repugnant that they effectively rendered their characters moronic in the process. (DD's Dad, Like are u serious?)
Although they were unable to demonstrate their acting abilities due to the storyline, it was nonetheless a respectable effort.
The OST was acceptable.
I wouldn't rewatch such a drawn-out, tedious drama.

The latest installment of KBS2’s Sat/Sun drama may be the beginning of the end
The ratings say otherwise, but Young Lady and Gentleman does not quite meet the expectations of KBS2 Sat-Sun dramas. The format itself may be at a crossroads with the growth of streaming, the rise of mini-”mini-series”, and the changing drama audience.Story:
The commitment to fifty (two) episodes is a double-edged sword. Time to explore characters. Too much time to fill. Safety of a long contract versus the risk of trying something new. The formula is a multi-generational family romcom with truckloads of misunderstanding. Among its peers, Young Lady and Gentleman takes an unusually out-of-touch approach to romcom, and feelings of frustration exceed any satisfaction gained.
Acting:
The cast is surprisingly small for such a large drama. The plot is also very “main”-centric and does not give as much opportunity to others. For example, it is hard to call Kang Eun Tak’s role as a “main role”. Thus, the acting falls on the shoulders of the two main leads, Ji Hyun Woo and Lee Se Hee. The plot did them no favors, but their acting and chemistry more often breaks immersion than add to it. The small supporting cast shines brighter in their limited roles.
Music:
The standout here is the OST sung by Lim Young-woong, who received mainstream attention following his win on Mr. Trot. The rest of the OSTs are well produced but fail to be more than another track on a long list of Korean OSTs.
Rewatch Value:
With a 52 episode count, it is difficult to justify a rewatch. The last drama in this timeslot that I watched is Homemade Love Story, which is a more interesting watch. My 100% biased favorite from the timeslot is My Father Is Strange. There is also the biggest hit, My Only One. Even the next drama, It’s Beautiful Now, shows more promise with Yoon Shi Yoon heading the star studded cast.
Regardless, the days of fifty hour weekend dramas may be numbered, and I predict a shift away from this long format. Current trends indicate dramas becoming shorter, less than 12 episodes! Streaming giants are quickly moving into the KDrama sphere. Even if this timeslot remains a staple to local Korean audiences, the producers and KBS must feel the pressure to innovate, both in the format as well as the formula.

One of the worst...
I usually hold Korean recent Dramas in high regard, and occasionally one or two in recent time has disappointed me.. And Young Lady and Gentleman I thought was really entertaining and actually good. Then after episode 10 or so it began to start unravelling and went downhill gradually at first and then it just accelerated to the end. Korean drama rarely goes beyond 20 episodes, but this one went on to 50 torturous episodes, and with more than an hour per episode they were clearly out of their depth! What on Earth were they thinking? It should have been 20 episodes at max and the storyline would have been tighter and more interesting, rather than bombarding the viewers with shit. The FL lead, on my god, a 24-year-old, behaved like a retard 16 yo school girl all through the drama!!! WHY? Selling that 'Cute' girl to the boys? REALLY?
