Journey ends where you expect it to
Ghost Doctor doesn’t have any heavy romance involved. This is a supernatural bromance between a star surgeon learning to shed his arrogant nature and a cocky young resident doctor learning to, uh, embrace the privileged circumstances he was born into on his way to the top.Started watching the show due to Kim Beum, but Rain was terrific as well. The importance of doctors, and saving every human lives is well portrayed in the show.
Although it may feel a little stucked with the narrative in the midway, but the last couple of episodes makes it up. Ghost Doctor ends where you expect it to and the familiar journey has been comfortable and to some extent, memorable.
My Rating : 8/10

Great ML & FL chemistry
Rain and Kim Bum was great ML in this drama. They worked beautifully together from beginning to end. Uee was the first FL for me to watch and observed her acting. I would love to see more of them together in other dramas (fantasy one). Please give Rain more chances in showing what he can bring to the movie screen. Kim Bum is great too. I loved all the episodes that lead up to the climax of the drama. The writers did not disappoint me in the end.Anyone who is interest in a short drama should give this one a try. You will not be disappointed.

Comedic Bromance is the Stronghold of This Drama
Ghost Doctor is one of those dramas that can lure you wanting more episodes especially in the first half of the drama but it also shows a lot of filler scenes in the second half of the drama, which for me personally slowed down the progression of the plot too much, making the ending, while happy, not fully 100% satisfied. It did feel rushed towards the finale. Did I still enjoy it? Of course. Is it consider a 2022 top favorite? Maybe not, at least for me.NOTE: It is a doctor drama so there is some medical terminology being used and explained in this drama. However, if you're looking for a drama where surgeries and the patients are the main focus, then this drama isn't it. Yes, there are some scenes of surgery and all but there's not much in-depth analysis being shown to the viewers.
What I enjoyed:
* Bromance is the main player here. We see the growing relationship between our 2 male leads Young Min and Seung Tak. These two are the comedy duo and why I kept watching this drama. You also see the character development within each character.
* Tess being a helpful spirit not just to other spirits but to humans as well. Though only a side character, he played an impactful role to a lot of people.
* A lot of comedy. I sure did laugh a good amount
Problems I have with this drama:
- Slow progression on the 2nd half of the drama: We had story material here about Seung Tak's struggle on being a doctor/surgeon and had the idea that Young Min is going to teach Seung Tak on becoming a surgeon, however the issue here is that the writers condense all of this into 1 to 2 episodes, instead of showing a gradual progress within every episode. As I stated above, it does seem like a lot of filler in the second half of this drama with a very slow progression in plot.
- Useless villains lasting until the very end: Honestly, the writers revealed that Young Min is a ghost that can possess Seung Tak early on which is okay but why have the villains until the very end. They didn't contribute much at all and were a waste of valuable screen time. Should've got rid of them around the 2nd to last week (or even earlier) of the drama.
- Our Coma Ghost's Stories: There wasn't enough of it and I felt like it was an open ending for them. I wanted more screen time for them and an actual closure to their story. Replaced the useless villains screen time with the coma ghosts, then I probably would've have more satisfaction with this drama.
- Though I usually like romance, romance wasn't needed here in this drama. Writers focused too heavily on that which I do blame on the progression of this drama sad to say. This is one of the rare occasions where romance would've better as a minor event. Also, I just couldn't feel the chemistry between Young Min & Se Jin, despite this drama keep showing their past, Seung Tak & Soo Jung seemed more like friends overall. I think the coma ghosts Bo Mi & Hoon Kil had a better chemistry as a couple but of course, the writers crushed my hopes on this by leaving this open ended.
- Female lead characters seemed more like support than main. I expect a lot more from a character that's consider a lead, but the writers just didn't deliver it for our female characters. Nothing really stands out from them as the male leads took over the spotlight.
To summarize, this drama is a good watch for the bro-ship. You'll laugh at their bickering scenes and silly moments. You'll also grow to like some of the support characters like our coma ghosts. Everything else is just kind of average and skippable.

My new fav
I just finished this, so still full of emotion but I just want to start rewatching already. This is most definitely my new favorite drama of all time. And I did not think that would ever happen.
From the start I have been in love this with drama. I started watching because of the interesting storyline, I stayed because of the amazing cast, loads of emotion, incredible OST and overall excitement this awesome drama has given me.
Every single episode just filled me with thrill and excitement and I do not think I have ever been this happy watching something before. I laughed, got angry, cried a lot and loved every bit of it.. This is also like my 2nd review ever, it's not something I usually do, but with this one I just had to..
Honestly, if I could give an 11/10 I would. In my eyes, total perfection. Thank you to the creators, cast and everyone else who worked on this drama.

Bromance and Second Chances
Ghost Doctor (2022)Likes
1. The fun bromance between Youngmin and Seungtak. They were the real romcom couple. From enemies to solid friendship.
2. Fave character is Youngmin. He really grew as a person and doctor in this drama. Must have been hard wanting to heal people but not able to. Thats why its important to tell the people they matter before you lose the chance.
3. I also loved the lost and found romance between Youngmin and Sejin. Although falling in love again in just a few months (after 12 years apart) while YM was a ghost was a bit of a stretch.
4. Halfway i thought the story lost steam but im satisfied that almost everything was answered in the final episode and it didnt feel rushed.
5. I also loved the ghosts and Tes. They had their own side stories.
Dislikes
1. Took some time for Seungtak's character growth (only in the last 4 eps) since they focused on the bromance and "when will Youngmin wake up?"
2. Some wasted potential in Han Seung Won and esp Doctor Ahn.
"Don't forget. As much as you value your life, every life in this world matters."
Rating: 8.5/10

THIS WAS SO GOOD!
FIRST OF ALL, I love Rain! Everything he does or touches is a 10. Kim Bum is so cute in this drama even when his role called for him to be upset. He did an awesome job being a host! The storyline may be boring to others but it kept me focused that I needed to see the next episodes. I believe that I have a ghost in my living quarters. We do NOT know or understand what happens during the death process. I'm not in a hurry to find that out either. All I know is this was a really good drama and I will be rewatching it.Was this review helpful to you?
Needs a prescription for revision
One of the interesting queries that pops up when watching “Ghost Doctor” is, if this production team would be in charge of putting together a K pop group, would they select a host of actors to try their hand at being musical entertainers? It’s because three of the leading cast members were idols prior to becoming actors. One of the supporting cast is the brother of an idol (and that idol also makes a guest appearance) and another became well-known for appearing in music videos. How does littering a medical drama/buddy comedy with idol cast members turn out? It’s an uneven affair but to their credit, much of that can be attributed to other causes.“Ghost Doctor” primarily follows Rain’s Cha Young Min, an ace cardiothoracic surgeon who ends up wandering the hospital as a ghost after he ends up in a persistent coma. He discovers a connection with Kim Bum’s Ko Seung Tak, a new resident and member of the hospital’s ownership family. There’s also Uee’s Jang Se Jin who is a neurologist and Young Min’s ex and daughter of a conglomerate chairman that had spent the past several years in the US. Her half brother (Lee Tae Sung’s Min Ho) is scheming to take over the conglomerate and Tae In Ho’s hospital administrator gets involved.
Once Young Min is stuck as a ghost, he’s encumbered with certain rules about how far he can go, but he can go farther if he is possessing a person, and how to change clothes and open doors and eat and drink, etc. These rules make very little sense, but it’s a ghost story and it’s necessary for the narrative so, uh, whatever. But as he can interact with Seung Tak, much of the first half of the run is laboriously spent on getting Young Min and Seung Tak into some sort of working arrangement. The only respite from this glacial pace is a lot of open heart surgeries that viewers with weaker stomachs may want to skip through. And there’s a few other ghosts floating in and out but they have little connection to what’s happening through at least the first half.
After Young Min and Seung Tak finally work out their cooperation, the story lurches forward with Young Min hoping to regain consciousness, reestablish a relationship with Se Jin and foil the nefarious plans of the baddies. Along the way, it’s one odd couple after another with the previously mentioned up and down results.
Rain is clearly a performer that is a natural on stage. Everything is big - the gestures, the expressions, the volume, the attitudes and the moods. The moments when he is at ease are spare. The effect is that Rain comes across as someone playing multiple characters - arrogant Young Min, lovesick Young Min, passionate doctor Young Min and so forth. But the different character/moods don’t integrate together into a single character.
Meanwhile, Kim Bum’s Seung Tak is an aloof but affable and easy-going loafer that has bursts of insight and empathy. It’s clearly meant to be a balance against Young Min’s extremes but Kim Bum’s portrayal is, at best, odd and awkward. He rarely seems to have a comfort level with what type of character Seung Tak should be and it’s compounded by times where Kim Bum is really Young Min in possession of Seung Tak’s body. It’s a role that either is beyond this actor’s talents or that needed markedly better direction.
As a duo, the two together don’t mesh well. One is a roulette wheel of extreme personalities and the other’s real personality is the true apparition on the show.
Fortunately, as the primary arc accelerates, the rest of the cast and the subplots can get some screentime. And the more the focus shifts on to others, the better. Sung Dong Il is terrific as the patriarch of sorts among the ghost crew. Son Na Eun spends most of the first half AWOL but has some nice scenes later. And the trio of ghosts played by Yoon So Hee, Choi Seok Won and Han Seung Hyun is the highlight. Their backstories are poignant. The relationships between them are warm. And their narratives are by far the most compelling. But like with Son Na Eun, they spend a seeming eternity for their arcs to gain any traction.
Meanwhile, the villain barely appears and when he does it mostly just waiting for things to happen. The entirety of the senior medical staff are badly written comic relief and with questionable competency as doctors. Some leeway should be given to a fictional vehicle to stray from reality, but to have a hospital with only one or two surgeons that can actually operate on a patient is a gigantic stretch. Outside of the open chest cavities, the production value isn’t anything special. If there’s an OST, it’s not noticeable. Although there is a nice guest spot by Hani and the writer appears to have an outstanding knowledge of medicine (or at least enough to fool anyone but actual medical experts).
What “Ghost Doctor” really needed was someone to significantly edit the screenplay to accelerate the events of the first eight episodes and emphasize a more ensemble approach to the show. Had something like happened, this show might have been a tremendous success. But instead it’s an average show with a few nice moments and some painfully tedious filler.
Not recommended.

Not perfect, but a fun, heartfelt bromantic ride to a satisfying finish
In the first episode, Professor Cha Young Min asks if a patient is dying, would he prefer a doctor with skillful hands or a caring heart?Prof Cha Young Min and Dr Ko Seung Tak : one has the skill but seemingly no heart, the other has heart and knowledge, but not the skills. Because they are so different (and both jerks in their own way), they hate each other from the moment they meet. Yet Fate has it that only together will they become the better version of themselves.
Prof Cha goes into a coma after an accident and finds that he, as a coma ghost, can possess only one person - his nemesis Dr Ko Seung Tak. So begins a story of redemption for these two doctors, not only in their professional capacity but also in their personal lives, helped along by a sage old ghost called Tes. Along the way our two heroes must learn to work together despite their differences, deal with the bad guys, resolve past personal baggage, all the while trying to save the lives of people around them. As the story progresses, this includes finding a way to save Prof Cha himself, as his life hangs increasingly by a thread.
I must say I enjoyed this more than I expected to! Rain and Kim Beom are absolutely fantastic as Prof Cha and Dr Ko, and have delivered a bromance that rivals (in my opinion, exceeded) that of Goblin + Grim Reaper! (who are now relegated to 2nd place). Yes, the drama has its flaws and plot holes , but peppered throughout are some truly lovely gems - hilarious laugh-out-loud scenes, poignant moments, and relatable side characters who brighten the story, with the endearing trio of coma ghosts being my favourites.
Ghost Story is touted largely as a comedy. However, it is, after all about life, death and the in-between, so there are heart-rending moments as well. Not everyone lives. The pacing is good overall, but does slow down around Eps 10-12, as things take a turn for the worse and frustrations mount. The mood gets a little heavier and, unfortunately, the pacing gets a bit draggy at this point. But bear with it and keep watching to the end! It will be worth it! Because this story has one of the most satisfying wrap-ups I have seen in a while, leaving me with a tear in the eye and a smile on my face long after it ended.
