A female surgeon who has practiced medicine abroad for many years returns to China. She is appointed as the director of the Heart Center of Ankang Hospital, where she establishes a critical illness team and heads the project to develop artificial hearts domestically. Most people could not accept that Tang Jia Yu had come out of nowhere to become their boss. Nonetheless, she keeps on proving herself through a series of difficult operations to conquer her subordinates one by one. As the chief surgeon, Jia Yu has come to develop a good rapport with anesthesiologist Ye Yi Ming from the many times that they've worked together on the operating table. In the meantime, the operation for the first patient to receive an artificial heart turns out to be a failure. The sudden return of Jia Yu's ex-husband has prevented Jia Yu and Yi Ming's relationship from taking a step further. A proposal for cooperation with foreign equipment manufacturers is brought up again, thus pulling the plug on the R&D for artificial hearts. After experiencing double troughs in her career and love life, Jia Yu has no choice but to travel far to areas with a high incidence of congenital heart disease. Through every operation, she gradually regains her love for surgery and the confidence to return to the hospital. (Source: ChineseDrama.info) Edit Translation

A Nice Refresher
This is one of my favorites of this year. Honestly, I started watching after reading the synopsis and didn't bother even to check who the actors were. (ended up checking 5 times before realizing that wei daxun was the male lead LOL)I've been trying to look for a drama that could keep me hooked at all times, and this was one of them. I remember seeing the poster on iqiyi a couple of months ago and when it finally aired, I was somewhat skeptical since I didn't want to start another drama and then quit halfway through. I can proudly say I finished this drama within 4 days. I originally expected a lot more romance in this drama based on the tags but was somewhat slightly disappointed. The leads went through quite an adventure but don't worry we have two lovely side couples. However, the screenwriters did a fantastic job at portraying how Tang Jiayu would be since she is a mature woman who has faced a lot of challenges in her life so she won't be so easy to move. Some pros:
1. the characters all had really nice characters, even if you're supposed to hate someone you don't really really hate them because their story gets told later and why they act the way they are
2. happy ending - not the type everyone expects but this story does end happily
3. almost no shots or close up shots of the surgical process - I know some people can't stand all the blood and everything so this is a bonus (I personally don't mind)
4. the music usage is really beautiful - blessed to have zhou shen's voice as the opening song
5. semi-realistic portrayal of relationships - enemies to friends and respect earned and given
some cons:
1. ending - I'm sure everyone would agree after watching that we were robbed of tang jiayu and ye yiming's screentime
2. the most important/sad characters dying - after like a couple deaths, I'm always on the edge of my seat in fear that someone important will die next
the middle:
1. 36 episodes - i don't find this too lengthy but i don't find it too short either seems about right for the typical cdrama
so that's all i gotta say for this drama, overall everything comes down to personal taste but i would recommend this drama if you're really interested in medical dramas, would not recommend if you're looking for a romance tho. anyways i hope you enjoy this drama like i did and have an amazing day ~
A strict heads-up for romance intending people!!.
Actually, the drama is more of a medical genre with emotional touch and lack of continuation plot.Plot- I really liked the story, emotions, all the artists who made this drama a masterpiece. Though everything is well off written, it's just that the plot became too dull as it only contained repetition of surgery scenes, plotting and competition among surgeons and set backs in the life of surgeons.Though it was motivating but sometimes became too boring as some scenes have been forcibly put up to lift up the emotional sense but didn't get the timing right to put these scenes. Also, the summary was written about artificial hearts but the story about it didn't progress until the end.
Cast- The cast were perfect in their job with no exception. Each character has a meaning and helps in story development (except one or two). But that too comes under those forcibly put up category so I understand.
Music- The beginning and ending OST's are much of soothing kind especially when they come with scenes. So I really really liked and will make them my playlist songs.
Re-watch value - Definitely i would re-watch this because as a Science graduate i could enjoy the movie whenever I feel like watching these.
If you are looking for a romantic drama this wouldn't be in the list as I feel it's all of a low touch romantic medical drama. The life of female cardiac surgeon standing high in the field full of male surgeons is all about this drama. Can give it a try as you won't regret it.
