The need for balance between communal harmony and individual ruggedness is a central concern of the cherished, long-running Wong Fei Hung series. Here, that need takes on a special immediacy. Addressing the issue of fierce fights between villages in Hong Kong's rural territory in the 1950s, this is the story of two villages engaging in violent parochial battles, resulting in many deaths and even more injuries. Caught in the middle is Master Wong, who tries to resolve the conflict with mediation. As always, that never works unless backed up by physical prowess. All the fighting culminates in a ritualistic final scene, an elaborate dragon-and-lion dance shot in Eastmancolor. (Source: HKFA) Edit Translation
