The Best BL of 2023 So Far
Ok, I may be exaggerating but I truly do not think so. I was a little nervous with the first episode; the whole “I gotta win the girl” trope isn’t one of my favorites in BL’s but I wanted to give it a chance. By episode two I was really glad I did. Where this story really shines is in watching how Kawi developed as a character. you aren’t supposed to fully like him right away. he has a lot of growing and learning he needs to do and it is beautiful to watch the process. I was also very nervous about the sick dad plot, as someone who lost my dad fairly recently there is a lot of ways it can be done wrong. I felt the way they handled it even with the time travel was so respectful and heartwarming. Also, I can’t write this review without commenting on the main couple’s chemistry. it’s more subtle than other couples but in a beautiful homey feeling sort of way. watching them feels like I’m watching a couple regale me with their experiences through their lives and I just get to sit and listen. I absolutely adore this show and would (and have) recommend it to anyone. Was this review helpful to you?

Wonderful!
The story was well written and produced, the acting throughout top notch and the casting perfect! The Ost is good, it doesn't disturb the flow or was overly intrusive, but when I hear a song from it, it reminds ne of the show and that makes a really good Ost!The characters were flawed, but in a very realsitic way and I had fun watching them doing their things. Sometimes it was dumb, sometimes it was frustrating, sometimes it was cute and sweet. Like real humans in their twenties. They weren't perfect, but they learned, especially Kawi! He hated the world, but learned to love it and a value lesson of life.
The Chemistry between the ML was chef's kiss and their kisses made me blush and heat like a teeny, like I was spying on something I shouldn't know about, yet. The way Kawi was so shy in the beginning was a litlle frustrating, but later on you could see, and feel, how comfortable he became to the touch of Pe (can't remember how to write his full name ... ). Their relationship was portrayed so well and natural, their flirting gave me butterflys, even later on and the deep love for eachvother made me tear up!
Spoiler!!!
When Pe went back and they discussed their future, it was heartbreaking to see Pe looking at Kawi with so much love and fear of losing him that he was willing to give him up right there.... and how strong Kawi got thanks to him and their relationship that he said he wouldn't change a thing anymore, because he was the happiest just with Pe at his side.... perfection! I was so happy when he returned and Kawi opened his eyes with that knowing smile ...
Give this show a chance! It is the one of the best shows I ever watched and I watched a lot! Everything just works so well, the characters are all loveable in their own way and Pe is right... Kawi is the cutest! I really love Krist's way of acting and I'm glad that you can see how much he improved since Sotus. Gawin is excellent, I think I like him here the most!

The series ends with them happy together, discussing future wedding plans.
**My Opinion**
WHAT I LIKED ABOUT IT
- I really like the concept of the show. It's time travel with a twist. The plot might appear predictable at first but there are numerous lessons to be learned about being in the now and not let needless thoughts about the future make your current life a mess.
- I like B and T's interactions. This is not really a fluff show but it is real and their interactions are adorable and full of love. While there are not many intimate scenes, the actors do a great job in conveying the characters mental state to the audience.
- The acting really is good, not only from the ensemble cast but from the main characters. Sure there were moments where acting isnt as good, but key moments, everything was on point. The main characters really do have chemistry together.
- I like how this show tackles the issue of discovering ones sexual orientation. The revelation part is very realistic and I love how supportive Ts mother is.
- I love how the angst doesn't come from misunderstandings. The main angst comes from not knowing who you are and what you want and the pain you cause others while you struggle to find out.
- The writing is very good. This is a complicated topic because B goes back in time numerous times, which can easily make the narration confusing. However the author sis a great job at explaining all of this and don't make you wander just what is going on.
- The pacing is really great. You are always on the edge of yourself wondering just what will happen next.
- I love seeing how much insight we got in to both B and T's personality and insecurities. Not only that, their characters have also developed quite a lot through out the series. B has grown up emotionally and learnt how to accept that nothing will be perfect but you can try your best. I love how these two are always there to support each other.
WHAT I DIDNT LIKE ABOUT IT
- There are a lot of talking, which can get a little boring. But I did like the characters talking things out instead of emoing on their own. However the communication isn't perfect but it is a start.
- I love and hate the time skip. Love because it shows an accurate depiction of what happens to couples after they spend years together. After the honey moon is over, the love is still there but it's more subdued. B and L aren't constantly in each other spaces. They have work and other things to worry about now. They are still together more as friends and life partners. Hate because it's not very fluffy, it pulls you away from the BL world where everything is sweet, to the real world.
- I feel bad for the girl because the two boys she ended up liking ended up dating each other. Her role is simply that of a tool to help these two realize their feelings. At least she is given a small arc instead of throwing her away once she was no longer needed.
- There is a lack of buildup explaining why T likes B. Everytime B asks, T says it's because B's cute so it's naturally to assume that T first liked B for his looks and then this feeling turns in to something more after they start spending time together. It also explains why at the beginning T doesn't seem to upset that B is still chasing that girl.
**Conclusion**
An interesting time travel story.

Dumb and Dumber with time travel
I love that they used a novel as the source material for this show because books spend more time on the emotional arcs of the main characters. This one is worth watching for the last few episodes...but...butBut, here some things got lost in the translation from three three-dimensional characters in a novel to what we see finally from one of the main characters...
let's call it a basic-b syndrome or a cardboard cut-out of a closed heart and true hating of anything related to happiness. I'm being kind here...
It could be the casting. I read one of the leads was recast at the last moment. Or they used a shredder to the original concept and improvised the worst parts of a selfish human being and did that for a few episodes. I'm complaining because I like the concept, and the actors are good...
You can punch holes in the rules of time travel and probably when things finally get to a hint of romance. I have questions about how one of the characters magically becomes less dumb.
Why was I yelling at the screen at the actions of one of the leads (no spoilers)...but you will know what I mean when you see it.
That's the big question: will you stick with it and get to the good parts? YES, I believe in time travel and I've seen your future. You will have to see how it ends. And that's why I grudgingly give an overall 9 out of 10 because I have NO choice.

Consistent Story and Surprising Acting
I will be honest, I spent the majority of the series nit-picking plot points and complaining about Kawi's character. But at the end of the 12 episodes, I was surprised and very thankful for the Twitter Trends page for introducing me to this series.I don't love that they made the time gap 10/12 years, because the characters behave in the present the same way they did in the past. It's hard to get actually invested in the plot, especially at the beginning, because of this huge detail. It would be better if the jump was just to the end of their college years, not such gap.
Things get better from episode 4, because Kawi actually opens up about the things that make him this awkward, lonely kid. I felt sorry for the way he was treated at the Summer Party, but I also blame the script for setting up such stupid situations just to emphasize his awkwardness. The kid has to carry three bags, one of them is a backpack, why the hell didn't he put on both straps? These unbelievable situations made it harder for me to completely enjoy Kawi and his troubles at the camp, but I can't deny the character emotional development, he's much better at least for now.
Something I really loved was how strong Pear is as a character, despite the role she plays on the show, being the prettier girl in the faculty and the romantic interest of both male leads. She has her own beliefs and thoughts, she doesn't shut up and stays put, I love the scene were she calls out the seniors about the stupid traditions. She's actually a character I loved!
Their first kiss wasn't in the best of situations. Kawi was drunk, which means he was vulnerable and couldn't consent to anything. The kiss was sweet, but the lack of expression in Gawin's face really threw me off. Then he laid Kirst down and started unbuttoning his shirt??? No, buddy! Kawi is drunk! The lost look in Kawi's eyes wasn't really expressive, but it was enough to convey how he wasn't really there, in the moment. I'm glad Pisaeng stopped things when he noticed Kawi falling asleep, but I would rather he hadn't started anything.
The scene where Kawi checks the future again after playing at X10 is so, but so bad. I cringed from the moment he showed up backstage with Max as his manager, to the very point where I had to pause for a second because he found out Pear will marry Not. The moment he realized his dad was still dead was so bad, it took him so long to react and Max just stood there, waiting for his queue. This particular moment felt so unnatural, why did Max just stand there????
I've only now started watching BL series, so I can attest to the actors acting and if they're already getting better or not, but I also have to blame the Directors for not telling them what to do with their limbs. So many heartfelt and angsty scenes were almost ruined for me because of the actors instances. Kawi is dying and Pisaeng is desperate? He, Max and Pear just stand there in front of the doctor like the ? emoji.
Suddenly it's been 8 years since their college days? The timeline is very messy, but the concept is still very solid.
Pear is such a good person, I feel sorry for her troubles with her mom, but I'm glad she's still very nice to others despite all her pain. I've liked her from the start, there was a moment where I thought she would get in between Pisaeng and Kawi, but I'm glad she didn't. She's probably one of the best BL female characters I've seen so far.
Kirst's acting was such a surprise. He was amazing just for being able to make me loathe Kawi at the beginning, only for me to slowly fall in love with the character as he grew more mature and learned how to navigate the time travel. I decided to watch this series because I was in love with Unar/Dan in 'Not Me', but Gavin's acting also surprised me, he really knew how to make us feel sorry for how much he felt for Kawi and how far he would go to see him happy.
The story was solid, from the very first hint at the plot to the very end, it was consistent and not once the time travelling felt too much. The end was definitely the best, Pisaeng being the one to see for himself like going back to fix things is not always the best option.
I thoroughly enjoyed this show, might not rewatch because I usually don't, but I will definitely recommend this one to peers who want to get into Thai BLs.

Subverted Expectations (in a great way!) and Character Development
I'll admit, I was skeptical going into this show due to the main pairing. I've been waiting for Gawin to get a lead role though so I was equally excited. From the start it was a very entertaining series, but it was also a hell of a roller coaster.I'll start off by addressing how I feel about Gawin and Krist as a pairing: I... Was pleasantly surprised, but not blown away. They were very cute together, but I wouldn't be super sad to see them go on to be paired with other people.
So, I have to talk about Kawi, and how much of an interesting character he is! I liked him at first, then I was incredibly irritated and frustrated by him, then I liked him, then I was annoyed, and finally, by episode 7/8 he had reached a turning point and all of his journey had been worth it. Krist did SUCH a wonderful job with this complex character, and I was impressed the whole time with the life he brought to Kawi. The biggest thing, though, was the storyline with his dad. Every single time, I had tears in my eyes. Not an exaggeration, no matter how I was feeling about Kawi, when it came to his love for his dad I was immediately overcome with emotions. It was a beautiful portrayal of a very loving father and son relationship, and I was heartbroken again and again by the loss Kawi had to endure. From the joy he had in seeing his father again after so many years, to the crushing heartbreak and acceptance when he knew it was time to let go. Even just thinking about it now has me misty-eyed. Fantastic writing and delivery there.
I absolutely LOVED how often my expectations were subverted. That unlikable behavior I thought they'd write off? Surprise, there's a reason behind it and it will be expanded upon and acknowledged! The best I think was in episode 7, I think that was my favorite episode because it was a switch up of the consistency that was starting to be established. Kawi seeing himself as an alcoholic superstar whose dad was still dead and who drove someone who was dear to him to marry a terrible man? That was just the wakeup call he needed, and he had clear character growth from that point on which was very respectable. I also loved seeing him go from being timid and selfishly insecure to more comfortable in his own skin.
I think it was very well written, even if there were parts that fell short or I think could have been better, overall there was a lot of depth to the story and the characters. As I said, there were things I expected to just be frustrating bits that I'd have to get over, but they addressed a lot of them which I really appreciate! I liked that the characters had lives outside of just what Kawi and Pisaeng had going on and I especially loved seeing Max and the pride events/symbols!
There was a lot of good LGBT advocacy in this series, from outright things like the pride events and speeches, to the subtle representation at the hospital of one of the reasons why marriage equality is so important. I loved the moments of Pisaeng accepting himself, and Max being there to support him was wonderful. I love overt pride symbols being shown on full display! While there wasn't a ton of representation within the characters for anyone who isn't a mlm, I can still appreciate that they made sure to fully voice and show support for other identities.
I want to also shoutout the music in this series. The whole soundtrack was lovely and always set the tone, and the main theme is versatile and catchy.
The production and writing overall was wonderful and I'm glad people seemed to really enjoy the series because I know many others were also skeptical. While I don't think this will be my favorite (lol), I think it was great and know for sure it will be a favorite for a lot of people.
who decided to give Krist that hairstyle tho ?

PLS GIVE ME ALSO THAT MUSIC GLASS BALL THING !
By the way, let me say that I am really really glad that it was Gawin who's chosen to play the lead here ! like I am really really glad coz, Gawin is my super crush eversince like since kiss me again the series ! and my god ! he did great acting here and super handsome and really a green flag !!I am obsessed with this drama, for me it is more than a BL series, it's a story that is rich of lessons in life. I was really moved by the part where Kawii tried to avoid his Dad's death coz of sickness l, in the end kawi is not able to prevent it and I thought, when it comes to life and death, there is nothing we can do about it even if there's a magic music glass ball, I don't know what it's called-- if it is the persons time to die it will be ..
How I wish I could also have a chance like kawi to go back and fort to the past and present to see what will it be there and see if I could change anything coz , Man ! i have so much that I wanted to change and avoid and correct in my life.
Kawi tried to choose the path of being famous and having the girl of his dream, but in his story, I thought that nothing in this world can make your life the way you wanted it to be, sometimes you have to expect the worst, you cannot get everything you want and you cannot make every people have their favor on you, well, at least Kawi is able to experience being famous and later found out that no matter how famous and influential you are, when you are alone and in times of trial, none of those things matters, but what matter is the person who will be by our side. But still, I still want to be famous ! lol
About the Chemistry of Kawi and Pisaeng, I am obsessed ! they are so cute and funny, I am really glad on this couple and this love story will be one of my all time favorite from now on! I like pear, GMMTV is done with the mean pretty girls in their dramas, let me say !
I understood the story easily, the progression is great and on the final part , it was so exciting specially when Pisaeng also tried to go back in the past, I kinda thought that when another person uses the magic music ball there will be some errors or like some consequences, but I realized if it is that so, the producers should add more episode to elaborate it, And on the story there's nothing happened like that.. like maybe on the writers thought , they just want to show that the ball is only to correct and make the life of Kawi better, like no complicated things and that's what makes this drama light ! this is a phenomenal drama ! lucky Kawi is ! he's got a chance.
Later the couple didn't want to change anything even when they knew the future, they just wanted to hold on to their choices of each other like it is their right thing .. I love that so much , Just to add, I liked the, is it prologue ? like the scene is shown after the episode like as an additional POV of the scene or a character there, I liked that so much, making my watching so much fun !
Lastly, the signature beach ending and kissing scene ! like my mind is blowing, together with playing Gawin's song while all the sweet moments of the couple is on a flash back .. like I am obsessed.
this will be my one of the most recommended drama,
surely gonna re watch many times in my life !

Was this review helpful to you?

This drama always come at recommendation section. So I finally just decided to watch this. Quite happy to watch this....Kawi is a person that's always had Inferiority & low self-esteem, cause he's always didn't have enough money & that's also affecting his social life. One thing that Kawi regret the most from his university days is he has crush for Praemai for years, but never dare to confess his feeling. And one day, he received wedding invitation of Praemai & Pisaeng Jirawarakul. Unlike Kawi, Pisaeng is a popular guy at university.
When Kawi received the wedding invitation, he recalled back his feeling for Praemai. He looked back one broken snowball, that he intended to give her back in university days but couldn't due to it's broken. Now he tries to fix it before giving it to her for wedding gift. While he tried to fix it, he met one grandpa that said he can fix it. He did fix it & also giving a little surprise for Kawi, which can transports him back in time to the age of eighteen. Upon realizing it, Kawi determined to change his future with Praemai. And his journey begin...
The funny thing about playing with time & future. U can't guarantee u get what u want when u change the past. Kawi tried to fix his relationship with Praemai & a few times he turn it back to the future to see the result. And much like summary said, instead kawi fix his relationship with Praemai, he find himself closer & closer to Pisaeng. And kawi relationships with Praemai get worse & worse over time, and Praemai future herself also getting worse & worse with each changing. And unfortunately the time can't turn back for the second time. How Kawi gonna fix everything in the end...? Haha... U need to watch it urself...
Enough with the drama. Now what i like about this drama.
+ Kawi is interesting person. He seem selfish at first, but he can reflect himself & fix it to make everything better in the end. He dares to admit his own feeling & mistake & embrace the result in the end.
+ How in the end Pisaeng also experience the feeling going back to the past. How & when...? Stt.... U need to watch it urself. Haha...
+ The interesting changing relationship between Kawi & Pisaeng.
+ Praemai is one positive woman. She didn't self pity herself & don't hold grudge. She's one good friend.
+ The interesting concept of butterfly effect. How little decision that Kawi made really effect & changing the future...
Overall this quite good drama that can teach us something... Below is a little SPOILER!!! Read it with ur own risk.
==================================================
SPOILER ALERT!!!
==================================================
What i don't too like:
- Everyone characters seem a little shift everytime Kawi time travel. Like in one future how Knot & Kwan having secret affair & that's continue for long period until Praemai & Knot wedding, while Praemai didn't know about it cause Kwan didn't said anything all those years. But when Kawi return back to the past Kwan decided to tell Praemai about her affair with Knot. Maybe due to the change in chances of relationship between Knot & Praemai. But I mean the shift character here is Kwan, how at first she kept silent, but later she more honest to Praemai.

It was a little off and then IT WAS ON !
The plot seems a little tacky and clumsy at first when there wasn't enough background info (intended; yet didn't do a good job to secure the audiences' attention and understanding) and the way Pisaeng developed affection for Kawi was too easy (but that's how love works). Despite that, from around episode 4 onwards, the plot made total sense and was very logical (if the audiences are logical and empathetic enough to undersand the writing). It became real, sympatheticable and understandable.I especially love how the series targeted multiple points of philosophy and humanitarianism. It was just right (not overdone), impactful and digestable. I was given a chance to look at multiple new aspects of life through the writing. Also, the couple's progress through friendship and love was so interesting and so cute. They actually built a realistic and believable love progress, no big gestures, no going out of boundaries and I absolutely respect that because love stories in real life aren't majestic.
However, the only plot hole I find to be brain-itching is the time traveling of Pisaeng. On episode 12, He traveled back to the day he first turned the globe in Kawi's room when they had just received acceptance from Pisaeng's mom. So on his first try with the globe, where did he go ? What did he experience ? How did he feel ? Did he affect anything in the past and the future ? So...that took down a point.
Despite all that, i praise the two main actors heavily ! They kept it real and made it lively. I fell in love with the chemistry between them and cried for them when they fell apart. The two really delivered a prominent yet dilemmatic love.
All in all, this series will probably not be the best of this year but will definitely feed your soul well so i recommend you watching it.

Already My Favorite
Be My Favorite is definitely one of my favorites.•❅✧❅✦ Story •❅✧❅✦
Always an introvert and outcast, Botkawi has been in love with Pearmai for over 10 years. At the age of 30, his life isn't going that great, but everyone else's lives are amazing. While weeping over his sorry life, Kawi receives an invitation to Pearmai and Pisaeng's wedding. Kawi has always had a hatred for Pisaeng for not only being hot and popular, but also stealing away Pearmai when they were in college. While on a hunt for a wedding gift, Kawi receives a special crystal ball from a strange old man which sends him 10 years back in time. Kawi takes the opportunity to fix his mistakes and get with Pearmai, but he also unknowingly forms a friendship with Pisaeng, who wants more than a friendship with Kawi.
While the time traveling is not too unique, I really love how Be My Favorite pulled it off. Time travel wasn't too much of the focus, but rather the series was character centric. It wasn't about fixing situations and scenarios to better suit Kawi, it was all about Kawi learning to be more assertive and voice his opinions and thoughts that really drove the story forward. It was really nice to see from the first episode that all Kawi had to do was be more assertive to befriend Pisaeng and to learn that he really had no bad intentions when he "ruined" Kawi's chance to give his gift to Pearmai. Kawi could literally have had a better life he wanted and would be happy if he just had confronted Pisaeng and Pearmai.
That being said, the series could have gone with 10 episodes rather than 12. The last few episodes did feel a little bit draggy.
The storylines about Pisaeng going back in time, or even the minor storylines about Max, Pisaeng's mom, and even Pearmai's family backstory could have been cut. Pearmai's storyline wasn't really necessary as she wasn't really a main character. Instead of her, I would have loved to see Pisaeng's backstory, which we got a little bit of, but not enough. Pisaeng's mom's political story was a little confusing to follow and really didn't push the story forward as there wasn't really any big drama or issues with her politics and Pisaeng and Kawi's relationship. I was kind of expecting her to be against the relationship despite advocating for LGBT rights, but that never happened. As for Max, his story kind of felt incomplete since he was advocating for LGBT rights throughout the whole series but never once was seen with boyfriend. Still a great series though.

Pisaeng x Kawi
Pisaeng and Kawi are that couple that's perfect for each other, but seems to have never had a "honeymoon" period. Every time I see Pisaeng and Kawi, they remind me of an old couple that are soulmates, but constantly bickering with each other. They are definitely a new take on a romantic couple.
Pisaeng is so adorable. He's literally the perfect man. He falls for Kawi after talking to him for a few days and becomes loyal and dedicated to him soon after. Pisaeng's love is so loyal and strong despite Kawi pushing him to the side for Pearmai so many times.
Fluke, who portrays Pisaeng really stepped up his acting game and was amazing. I couldn't stop watching him. I want to see more of him.
Kawi is annoyingly adorable. When he starts being true to himself and starts being more assertive, people are naturally drawn to him. The only thing that was stopping him from being happy and successful was himself, which he soon realizes after traveling to the past.
It was nice to see Krist back in a BL, but I wasn't quite sure what to think of his acting. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't eye catching. I haven't seen any other Krist series or movies aside from SOTUS and SOTUS S, so I can't comment too much on his acting, but it didn't feel as great as he did in SOTUS. I honestly found Kawi to be annoying during the first few episodes, and as the series continued on, scenes where Kawi should have been nervous around Pisaeng came off more as Kawi being "repulsed" and "turned-off" at the thought of sleeping with Pisaeng. Maybe Krist is better at playing the more "stoic" and "masculine" characters, but Kawi was definitely not his best character. He still did a great job though.
•❅✧❅✦ Overall •❅✧❅✦
I really enjoyed Be My Favorite. It was a different take on the time travel concept and I loved what they did with the character growth. Pisaeng will definitely be on my mind for a little while now. Where can I get a person like Pisaeng?
Was this review helpful to you?
Pretty good
I mostly watched it because Krist was the main character. The story was was interesting and relatable in some ways. Few moments of life lessons I admire from the characters. Cliche but entertaining. Just something to watch if you don't got other BL series in mind.I really love Pearmai. Her character was just soooooo good. I kinda wished there was more scenes of Kwan because she was the only side character I rarely got in touched with. Otherwise, everyone was important.
The only thing I didn't like in the series is the love. I wasn't sure why everyone liked someone for a reason besides "you're cute." That was the energy I got from pretty much EVERYONE. Well besides Kawi and even Kwan. It just sounds like a little crush and nothing too deep. The love plot wasn't such a strong attribution to the story.
Again, this was a nice series to watch and pretty new storyline in the BL industry. Give it a try.
