Ataru Aida lives with his mother and has never moved out of his childhood room. A clean freak since he was a little boy, Ataru hates to go out, is cynical, and seriously lacks communication skills. He was having a blast with his work-from-home situation brought upon by the COVID-19 pandemic when, one fateful day, he is fired for having an attitude problem. Desperate without an income, Ataru surfs the net in hopes of relieving his frustrations and discovers that his favorite pop idol is having an affair with a married man. Using his internet search skills, he gathers information and connects the dots with his deductive reasoning as if he were a seasoned detective. But Ataru doesn’t stop there—he exposes the extramarital affair and earns praise from netizens. With some lauding him as if he were a hero, his ego inflates. Getting a bit too smug, he posts hateful and slanderous comments, causing him to be charged with defamation. Amidst Ataru’s predicament, he gets a visit from a Metropolitan Police Department investigator. “I want you to help us with your research abilities. If you cooperate, I’ll wipe off the charge against you,” proposes the officer. Will Ataru’s investigation, aided at times by his friendly team of “online detectives” from all over the world, lead him to successfully solve the difficult case? (Source: NTV) Edit Translation

A Quick and Refreshing Drama Incorporating Covid
Kitamura Takumi has once again delivered!!He plays a character who has hardly left home due to the pandemic, but somehow ends up trying to solve a missing person's case. It all starts with him being a typical (but quite creepy...) internet sleuth which many of us can probably relate to (albeit his determination is probably different from most of ours).
It's short and sweet and refreshing. A quick watch for anyone who likes a bit of a mystery and enjoys the technological element of it, especially since his character spends a majority of the time in his bedroom at home. In fact, a lot of his communication with other characters happens over video calls and messages which can be quite comedic at times.
Definitely give it a try if you want something short but interesting to fill your time.
Genius Mystery With Fun Adventure
This story is reminiscent of a couple of dramas I've seen before and when you add in the humor it's almost as if this two-episode special is a parody of those two other shows. Which is what makes this quite enthralling to watch, along with the wonderful cast!I think Kitamura Takumi was the perfect choice for the main character of this story. The way he responds or reacts to a character, or a few words is one of the funniest things I've seen in a while, yet still remaining subtle. Nothing he did was exaggerated or too over the top or goofy. It wasn't a "smart funny" that a lot of people probably wouldn't understand either.
I think the supporting cast was fantastic as well! Each one worked well with the other and the support for the follow throughs and the story in general was spectacular to watch! I wish there were more episodes to watch because the continuation would be something amazing! I would love to watch the cast solve even more crimes!
