Laughter is the best medicine

We might think it odd that comedy and mystery share anything in common. Mystery excludes comedy and comedy excludes mystery. To put it more succinctly, mystery excludes raucous laughter and comedy excludes seriousness. But the playfulness of Joo Won (Hwang Dae Myung), the Korean spideypool, is never frivolous or decorative. The mystery is reconciled with comedy. The compulsion of the comedy to transform problems of cultural heritage crime into solutions adumbrates its larger purpose, which is to explore and then contain fraught social issues within a lithesome and orderly performance narrative

It makes a spectacle out of the folly of the species. Through laughter, we behold ourselves as the subject of great folly in order that the folly might be recognized and corrected

My ratings would have been higher if not for the so-called "romance"

"Stop getting into fights. Why did you help her? Tell me, do you have a crush on her?"

Kissing, hand-holding, and acts of rescue between two men or two women are seen as "platonic" gestures devoid of sexual undertones. The desexualization of same-sex interactions stands in contrast to the hypersexualization of opposite-sex interactions, where the slightest physical contact is sensationalized and fetishized. This is a poignant illustration of the biases and prejudices that permeate our social fabric. It's a tragedy to those who think

Luckily, the possession of a sense of humor ranks high on my list of essential personal attributes. Joo Won (Hwang Dae Myung) possessed that sense of humor. I was patient with him, for although Joo Won (Hwang Dae Myung) lost his wisdom to a woman, he retained fragments and remnants of his humor

A very enjoyable and well balanced drama A very enjoyable drama that has all the ingredience of success. A very well balanced, characters, screen time, story, team work, comedy, mistery, romance, suspense, development of the story. Every thing!! All the characters have their own story and charm even the bad guys.. Which makes you guess the relation between the characters and how it will unfold. Just amazing. The OST and the cinema is addicting, and of course the main charachter, I love the duality of his role.

Great drama

Excellent series, I enjoyed it a lot and I definitely recommend it.
All the actors are very good, each of them plays an important role in the whole story, both the "good guys" and the bad guys. Sure, the main character stands out with his humor and dynamism, but everyone contributed in a way to the development of the story. history.
I really liked the series because it combines humor with action and emotion.
The story initially seems predictable at some points, but then it surprises us. Fighting, action and good music, excellent visuals and fast development of the case. personally, the story did not tire me at all and kept my interest undiminished.
I would definitely like a season 2 with the same action team!

Love the ending!!!

I hate loose ends, so I'm really happy that this show has a real nice closure to the characters involved, including the "bad guy"

I fell in love in 1st episode. It's kinda like Marvel Action Hero + Asian Treasure Hunt vibes. It's fusion...lol

I love it since it's different than the typical Kdramas. The story is really nice, many times I was surprised by the unexpected plot twist. There are moments that it got me LOL tooo...

I'm glad I gave this show a shot, esp since I am not familiar with both ML and FL. Now, I am in love w the ML!

The only reason I am not rating 10/10, its because there's something missing that I can't quite pinpoint. It's not boring, it's actually really exciting. I didn't skip any parts, so that I dont miss the important parts. But, somehow I just feel I could be more enteratined/engaged? Like, it could be faster or more intense? Perhaps, I am too used to the fast action show Hollywood provides

Beside that, I really think this show is very welldone!!!

A very enjoyable kdramavfrom TVN!

TVN is back with the type of content that many of us viewers are looking for! This kdrama is a high quality one, it has a strong villian character(s), and the main characters have sufficient depth and grat chemistry! The action, comedy, mystery all works out well! This story is a newer concept for kdramaland and it works out really well! I watch this kdrama on most days every week before sleeping. It has high rewatch value too! We need more kdramas like this!!

It might be a bit predictable but its very much enjoyable. If you give the main characters three episodes for example, you'll grow to like them. I love 'Min Soo Hwa' played character especially. Such a wonderful comic vibe!

Sometimes, you just need a lighthearted show to put on in the background and this is that show. There are plot holes and cliches and tonal whiplash, and the show requires a high level of suspension of disbelief, but it's also fun and wacky and doesn't take itself too seriously and I thoroughly enjoyed myself even if I didn't really care about the plot at all. The overarching message about the importance of history (and who it belongs to) is compelling and timely and I loved that, for all the comedic moments, the show never forgot about its core theme. The whole cast is great but Joo Won is especially endearing as both the bumbling Hwang Dae Myung and incredibly cool and slick Skunk, and Choi Hwa-Jung is an absolute delight as Dae Myung's partner in crime and I would totally watch a prequel series all about her backstory because the brief montage we got was not nearly enough. And huge kudos to Kim Jae Chul for acting his heart out in a revenge thriller while the rest of the cast was having a blast in an adventure comedy.

Watch it if you like wasting your time

I know you have to have a strong suspension of disbelief when watching k-dramas, but the plot-holes were too much to ignore.

1. What was the point of creating and designing multiple traps to get into the vault while on the other side there is just a freaking door with a key? What is the point for the traps, and for whom.
Also the villain could nor enter the vault because he does not have the key to the door? Lmao.

2. Why tf would the villain kill the sister and then go through all the trouble to hire an actor and deepfake shit? Wouldn't it be easier to just keep her alive and use that as a real leverage.

3. In almost all crime dramas there is one guy (usually a college kid) who can hack into everything, but that women seemingly made all the cool gadgets by herself. Tony Stark wants to know her address.

4. The main villain was borderline comical. They made the male lead a bumbling idiot. The acting was subpar, with poorly written lines. Overall seemed like they were on a low budget. There are better dramas to watch in this genre, don't bother.

◇The chemistry of the whole cast.
◇The balance of genres was fantastic
◇Well written plot
◇The Music ? (OST)
◇The way it was wrapped up, great ending very satisfying.

CONS:
◇The villian LOVED monologing! We get it sir you are evil, selfish obsessive human.

Overall LOVED this show so much fun really light for a crime show. There are sad moments (flashbacks) crime still really light and had some funny moments.

If there's a way to describe Skunk, i'd say that Skunk would be if Gaksital was born much later and become a vigilante to recover Korean historical treasures from looters and Pro-JP traitors instead of fighting against the JP colonisers. Love the comedy as well as the drama, Hwang Daemyeong was as lovable as his identity of a civil servant as well as alter ego. Team Karma was pretty fun too which made the whole series pretty fun to watch.

What a Ride

I had no idea the ML was the actor from Carter. That movie was disappointing to say the least. I wasn't familiar with him then and after seeing this I wouldn't mind watching anything he's in-if it involves fighting. I can't stress how much I love action police dramas and Korean actors who know how to fight!!

I'm going to talk about the cinematography first. I watched this drama on two different links and thought one would be better than the other. They weren't. A lot of the scenes that happened in this drama were so dark!! I don't mean in a sadistic way I mean in the lighting way. I don't understand what the editors were thinking when this was on the editing floor! It takes a lot of time to get the cameras and lighting set up and I think maybe it was too time consuming to do that. It looks like they filmed the majority of this drama in the winter so it must've been dark all of the time and they had no choice but to film scenes in the dark and tried to use as much lighting as they could. The problem with that was that some of the key elements were lost. If you can't see what's going on you won't know what's going on. You'll be left in the dark...literally!
I just couldn't believe they let all of those dark scenes stay.

Now for the chemistry...I wouldn't say it wasn't there, it was just...I don't know how to put it. I don't want to say it seemed disconnected because it wasn't. It just wasn't as strong as I would've liked it to be. That's just MY opinion.

I liked the fact that this drama kept it's consistency. They even threw in a 'Escape The Room' kind of spiel which reminded me of that show 'Busted'. But this one was better.

I liked the whole cast. There were no sappiness. No dripping oozing romance. Dramas work without the unnecessary fluff.

When they say 'the pen is mightier than the sword' in this drama they weren't kidding. Just like 'Weak Hero Class' I will never look at a pen the same.

Now as usual I always comment about the last episode. I don't know if I liked how it went. Especially in the beginning. I thought some grand heist was going to happen but it didn't. They built it up like it was going to be a 'gotcha' moment only to have it go in another direction. It also irritates me when they need to complete something they do a news segment to wrap everything up. Sometimes it's for the best but sometimes it just make it seem as if the director and writer had no where else to go. It's like that 'deux ex machina' kind of thing.

You also get to learn about Korean artifacts if it was real. I never cared for materialistic things even if it held some kind of history to it. After all they're just objects with a story behind it and nothing else.

I truly liked this drama. Somewhere down the line I will watch this again. I just have to tweak the contrast on the computer to get some of those dark scenes brighter.

Stealer: He Steals Stuff

The drama should've been called Karma or Skunk, more appropriate than whatever this mouthful title is. Anyway, the drama was quite average, delivering a forgettable experience that was hard to get excited about. Despite the intriguing concept of treasure hunting, it quickly devolved into a series of predictable and uninspired scenes. The characters and their backstories were bland, making it difficult to care about what happens to them and round them. The dialogue was often stale and lacked the sharpness or humor that could have added some much needed zest. Speaking of humor, while the drama was structured as an action comedy but the latter often fell short on delivering good material, with barely a couple of memorable comedic moments at the end. On the other hand, the action was a constant juggling act between enjoyable performances and half-arsed imitations. The police force in this drama was as incompetent as every other drama involving police work, as expected. They went out of their way to shamefully show how bad the police force was and subsequently made Skunk step down to an equal level just to make the dynamic between the two work, forcefully. The drama had an idea to work with but it barely done anything worthy with it.

healer

He took me to the era of Healer
It gives off a lot of vibes
Hit a boy who is doing a bad job
which is working exactly with Hiller's detective agency
God bless the director and those involved
I am very satisfied
Among all these silly historical and modern series, this one is really good
