Cute Binge-able Show With Good Acting, Non- Annoying FL, & Some Action
My headline pretty much says all I want to say. This is my first time writing a review of any show, so please, bear with me…
I binge-watched this one night/morning, and enjoyed it a lot. The plot line is interesting, and I wanted to know what happened next. But it is pretty predictable, which is not a bad thing, just in case you like or dislike such plots.
What really made me stay and that I loved were two things:
1. The Female Lead
PLEASE, goodness to gracious me. This girl is it. She’s smart, confident, and doesn’t go around whimpering and whining to everyone in sight.
2. The Acting + Chemistry
The acting actually surprised me. I wasn’t expecting bad, but I wasn’t expecting the quality that I got. It got me searching up the actor’s to see what other work they’ve done.
Esp. Wen Mo Yan.
I was shocked when I saw that not only is she 32 (jaw drops) she also only made her acting debut in 2021.
I am looking forward to what I may see from her in the years yet to come.
For Wang Zu Yi, for the most part, I think he acted quite naturally.
I am also looking forward to what he might partake in, in the future.
Chemistry~
Now, if you’re looking for a spicy chemistry, not for you.
But cute, some fluff, perhaps? It’s sweet, and not stiff!
I am not really one to rewatch (but there are specific ones that I will) so I really won’t rewatch this, and I have no desire to.
Now then,
I must bid my leave.
Farewell ^_^

Short n Fun
This drama is very short so the story is not long winded. The story is like Bruce Wayne/Batman and Peter Parker/Spiderman.While the story is just ok, I feel that the main leads acts really well. The chemistry is also there.
The ML is awesome showing two different characters. One is very silly, air head like, while the other one is so cool and full of confidence.
The ending is open ended, to open the way for the second season. To be honest, I don't know why the FL felt so betrayed that ML lied to him about his other identity. She also been lying to him about her other identity too!!

An exercise in frustration if you don't speak Chinese
If I could follow the dialog in English, I am certain I would have given this title a higher rating. Trying to figure out what is going on and what the characters are saying is frustrating because of the crappy subtitling. And then, after episode 16, there was NO subtitling at all! In fact, I had trouble even finding the last two episodes of Season 1. I hate to think of what Season 2 is going to be like if/when I can find it.The storyline seems to be interesting. The characters seem to be interesting. The relationships seem to work - the chemistry between the ML & FL was endearing and believable. However, Non-Chinese-speaking viewers really get screwed trying to watch these dramas, and that is unfortunate.
Out of desperation I watched the last two episodes and just had to be clueless as to any explanation of what was happening and why - and the way it ended was obviously to set you up for Season 2! So, I will go into Season 2 clueless, and hope for the best. However, if Season 2 is like Season 1, it might be a hard pass.

Part 1
Finally watch another quite decent short period drama…The story about A Qi | Leng Li (LL). Like MDL told us, A Qi was murdered by He Lian Chen (LC), the third prince of the Yan Kingdom. And LL just did suicide, because LL was set up to marry He Lian Xuan (LX), the fifth prince of the Yan Kingdom, but LL didn't want to. With the arrangement of fate (by writer), A Qi and LL soul switched places. And after that, A Qi who held a grudge against LC decided to marry LX and with that decision, A Qi officially became LL in this lifetime.
LX is known as a silly prince. But LL likes him, cause he is more pure than any man she knew. And with each incident, it makes LL & LX closer and closer to each other. And slowly but sure LL & LX fall in love with each other.
This season (part) close with… Behind that LX ‘silliness’, LX hides a hidden identity. And LL finally found out about that. So what will happen to them in the end…?
That's pretty much the story in this part. Let's talk about what I like and don't like.
What I like:
+ The decent plot for short duration drama
+ Good acting from all the actor/ess involved
What I don't like:
- Some episodes feel like they still prolong it
- Again a little bit disappearing sound & sub, make us who watch it not really understand what's going on.
- Some incidents or plots feel like force. I can't really give examples, cause it does not really leave much impression in my brain.
- I don’t like when dramas divided into 2 part, but decided to called the 2nd part as 2nd season. And even hater when it comes to short dramas...
Overall a really good production for short duration drama

Magic, martial arts and secrets
And on to another short c drama gem! And this one was fun to watch: a complex plot, excellent writing and acting, boring already heard kind of music and a cliffhanger! It is a complicated story of palace conspiracies and hidden identities. The soul of a murdered girl enters into the body of a general's daughter slated to marry the fifth price considered silly and idiotic. But she finds him sweet and kind and naive and falls for him hook line and sinker without realizing he is a master martial arts warrior. When she discovers the truth she is mad and angry. The end.
The acting was superb. The ML was excellent going from silly to hearthrob in a blink of an eye, changing character so smoothly that the fact she could not recognize him was rather believable: that different attitude and the white hair were a perfect deception combo. She hides a secret as well: that she actually is not the general's daughter. She is a strong brave woman, competent warrior and an expert pharmacist (or poison enthusiast!). Only one person finds her change of character intriguing. It goes to show how a woman is practically invisible and brought up only to serve men and disappear behind them. When she shows that she actually does have a brain, the men are scared and intrigued.
The best and most entertaining episode was ep 10 when they had to deal with a plague hitting the kingdom. It was thinly, very thinly, veiled exposé on COVID in China and it was hilarious (from my point of view!) though that funny part had nothing to do with the drama just a personal appreciation!!!!
The only problem I had with this drama was the ending. So she finds out he has a secret identity and is all huffing and puffing angrily and jumping in the water and disappearing etc. But she also is not who she claims to be so what gives her the right to feel hurt and offended and angry?
The drama is chock full of plot so there is not a moment wasted on the unnecessary side plots: we have martial arts, flying fans, poisons, music, ghostly possession, zombies, magic and crazy good chemistry!
So on to the sequel!

A short drama with gripping story and great chemistry
Most short dramas have very basic plots and invests more on cute scenes rather than angsty ones. So The Only Girl You Haven’t Scene was such a surprise because it’s the opposite of the short drama formats.|Plot/Story worthy of long format dramas|
Based on a webtoon/manwha/animation, TOGYHS has a well thought out and gripping story about the reincarnated FL and mysterious ML. Similar to the setup of My Lovely Swords Girl, it has the arranged marriage and “weak” ML at the center of the drama. There are so many layers of intrigue/twists that I’m surprised that the drama was able to hash all the twists in the end.
Main plot was the arranged marriage between FL and weak ML. Another plot about the secrets that the ML has. Another is FLs revenge on the MLs brother. Then there’s the thing about the ML surviving court life. Everything is just so interesting.
|Great acting by the newbie cast and good chemistry between the main leads|
As an avid Chinese drama watcher, I’m so surprised to see the FL (Weng Mo Yan) having normal beauty, deep voice, and still deliver the chemistry with her ML. On the other end, the ML (Wang Su Yi) is a cross between your typical flower boy and fierce model look — similar to Lee So Yuk. The ML did a great job in portraying his 2 personas (as the dumb and weak husband, and the scheming, smart prince). Both Mo Yan and Su Yi also delivered during their emptionally charged scenes and whatever time they had together on screen — you can really feel the chemistry cackling between them.
This drama had great potential to be another epic drama because of the plot and cast, but saddly it is also plagued by the low budget, dark lighting in some scenes, and the unavailability of good subs. I was only barely able to understand the drama when it initially aired but thankfully Yoyo fun station subbed the drama.
Overall, if you have time in your hands, this is a good drama to watch if you want something gripping and romantic but don’t have the time to watch 36+ episode standard dramas.

Kickass FL who has great chemistry with ML
I was in the mood for reversed gender roles so I searched for dramas on MDL with this tag and found 'The Only Girl You Haven't Seen'.What I liked:
1) Leng Li characterisation - I love her character! She's tough and feisty but lovable. She goes for what she wants and that includes her feelings for male lead He Lian Xuan. I also like that she's brainy - she knows about herbs and uses the knowledge to help people. Wen Mo Yan was brilliant in this role. She kinda looks like Kim Sejeong, a Korean actress and pop idol.
2) He Lian Xuan characterisation - I enjoyed his character too. He is protective of Leng Li but at the same time, couldn't show his full self to avoid trouble with others. His other persona Qing Ru is cool. Wang Zu Yi was brilliant in this role.
3) Romance - I could feel He Lian Xuan's feelings for Leng Li - so genuine & pure of love & admiration. Damn I love it when a woman makes the first move and gosh that scene of Leng Li making the first move is HOT! I also like that Leng Li never resisted He Lian Xuan's feelings - she too never doubted her feelings for him.
4) The comedy - Never expected comedy scenes to be laughed out loud. Leng Li getting back at He Lian Chen and 6th prince was a gold moment!
What I disliked:
1) Transmigration arc - I feel like this plot wasn't well explained.
2) The ending - I understand why the series ended that way but why make it a sad one?
Favourite scene
When Leng Li told He Lian Xuan to "be a man" in episode 5.

Nice plot
What I like about this one was how they make stories about FL and I like her skill too!The FL here is somehow wholesome. I must forget something but I kinda like to see more of her personality. Even with ML too. But I guess, that's impossible for a short length. And there was part two! I'll rewatch this and watch the sequel.

Sweet couple with lots of family politics
Since I found the English subs, I thought I should add a review. The drama is cute. I enjoy dramas where the female lead is strong, intelligent and capable. The chemistry between the male and female leads is sweet. Although the story is not ground-breaking but it is still enjoyable to watch. There are many twists and turns due to family politics. The male lead has remarkably expressive eyes. I enjoyed his character quite a bit. The female lead has also done a wonderful job.The drama also has a few flaws. Both the husband and wife are hiding a secret. The female lead gets very angry with the male lead for his secret. That aspect didn't make any sense to me considering she has her own. There is also something both are investigating but nothing comes out of it. I don't know why that segment was added in the show and then forgotten about. It is not dealt with in the second season either.
These are the only reasons why I have deducted from my total score. Overall, it's an enjoyable watch. Very engrossing.

The Lead Couple Are Awesome
Both seasons 1 and 2 of this drama are interesting. Even though it is a mini drama it's entertaining. Watch it if you like:1. A cute main couple who love and support each other. I love how they work together on their problems and how supportive they are of each other. They definitely make each other better and they have very good chemistry.
2. A good story with strong ML and FL. I especially like how clever both leads are and how they are both risk takers.
The only con for me is that in some parts the audio cut out. Otherwise for a low budget drama, it is very good. I hope to see the leads together again in another drama.

LIGHT WEIGHT FUN
the relationship between the two main characters was really sweet but still had sex appeal. the acting was enjoyable throughout.I also appreciate not having my emotions on a constant rollercoaster.
Unfortunately, in series 1 the sound vanished several times for a minute or two. The fact that I use CC allowed me to keep up with the dialogue but it still disrupts the experience. Additionally, towards the end of series 2 the music track was much louder than it should be. Of course I still had CC but it affects the experience.
Also, as is often the case watching on YouTube, the beginning was chopped off. The FL was already reincarnated. Fortunately, at that point we have her thoughts as she figures out what is going on.

Review for Season 1 & 2 together!
This review is for seasons 1 and 2. Both seasons are fantastic. The cast did a great job bringing their characters to life and the leading couple has a splendid relationship that develops into a beautiful, steadfast, and heartwarming romance with very good chemistry. It is refreshing to see He Lian Xuan (played by Wang Zu Yi) and Leng Li/A Qi (played by Wen Mo Yan), two very intelligent characters, as they get closer and stronger to become a devoted power couple. Since it is a miniseries divided into two seasons, it is best to see one right after the other to appreciate that, although the production is not perfect, the both seasons are well done in matters of production value. These miniseries have a substantial plot that could have been better served if turned into a long format drama. Overall, both seasons are worth watching and entertaining. Enjoy it!Was this review helpful to you?
