Maiden Thief (1967)

Notorious bandit Wong Choi Fat, already retired, loses his prized Imperial Lady Mirror on the gambling table to Chin Yik Tung. But the treasure is stolen by a cat burglar a day before the new owner claims it. Wong’s daughter Ka Yuk suggests replacing it with a fake one. Accompanied by the insurance agent Lee Mui, Chin visits the Wongs to claim his bet which is to go on exhibition for the appreciation of art connoisseurs. Sent into a panic, Choi Fat, who finds himself inept to snatch back the fake goods and his daughter too young and inexperienced for the task, enlists the service of the famed burglar Lee Kit. Kit and Ka Yuk manoeuvre their way through Chin’s mansion laced with security gadgets only to find the mirror missing. The show is held as scheduled, exhibiting the genuine article. Teaming up with his daughter and Kit, Choi Fat finally reclaims the mirror which turns out to be a forgery. Bewildered, the trio are greeted by the insurance agent who announces the staged heist as a prelude to the reunion with her brother, Kit.
