The finest level of Korean cinema

No one would have expected another flight action movie that could give 'Emergency Declaration' a run for its money, and yet this one has done the impossible of Korean cinema which surpasses it in both technical aspects and even more so in its storytelling. The script is so well written and the plot design is having pin point accuracy, every single emotion is precisely placed, the political sentiment from both sides were also well resonated. Action sequences are terrifying enough and the final sequence is simply the best thing you could ever have in a Korean movie. The vintage setup is also visually stunning, everyone's acting is also ridiculously immersive, it is seriously a phenomenal Korean production at its finest level of commitment.

So heartbreaking I couldn’t stop crying

On a light note, the way the movie started with how everyone was so clueless about planes, those simple joys before everything went wrong….

I’ll add my comment first then add more on my review

The thing about this is that it’s based on a real story
So the backgrounds of each characters, the pain, the fear, the choices and regret, it was all so raw and heartbreaking

Yongdae wasn’t just a hijacker, he was tortured as a kid by psychos who labeled anyone as a communist
Taein lived through the first hijacking with his choice of letting them pass the boarder, was that the right choice? Or would he choose differently

Everything was just so heartbreaking and the acting honestly they couldn’t have picked better actors, my jingoo, my heart ached for him and being his fan, I could sympathize with that backstory, but his actions of course didn’t make it easier so that’s the whole emotional turmoil, everything was so intense I couldn't stop crying

It’s like a domino effect “what if”
Taein letting the first plane pass which resulted in 11 people being unaccounted for till now, it only means they were imprisoned or murdered or worse, labeled communists

And thus, this time he decided to make sure everyone is safe, and if he died, atleast they’ll know and won’t live in dread
That’s a heartbreaking choice, he literally threw himself on a bomb to save people.

Those times honestly are so confusing for me, were they witch hunting people and calling them communists just because?
Cuz yongdae’s life, he was abandoned by his brother, his town threw hot water on kids, they put false accusations on him, and his mom died…. When “normal” people labeled others so easily, doesn’t it make sense he turned out so messed up?! Who’s to blame?!

And we will never know the truth past that first hijack, did they really give the first hijacker money, did they choose to stay behind cuz they were done with their government
Did they ask for money for returning the hostages? Did they use the plane technology? Did SK refuse to pay more for the government workers that they didn’t return them?

But all those things fueled taein, to protect them and hide their identities, to return their bodies, or to return them safe

He was a hero, yongdae was a victim, who’s to blame? Atleast things did change, those were really black times for Korea
With this dire action, it also stopped others from trying I guess

Hijack 1971 is a movie about a plane hijacking incident, a plot that's been done many times. However, for me, "Hijack 1971" creates a different impression after watching it. Why? Because the main characters, both the protagonist and antagonist, have clear backgrounds, and the performances of Ha Jungwoo and Yeo Jingoo make this a very good movie. So this movie is not just about " surviving" the hijacked plane situation.

I also really enjoyed the supporting characters played by Chae Soobin, Lim Semi, Kim Dongwook, and Moon Woojin. Even though they don't have as much screen time as Jingoo or Jungwoo, their roles add to the movie's atmosphere.

I can't comment much on the technical aspects, but I am quite impressed with the cinematography. The camera movements dramatize the scenes (both outside and inside the plane). The unique costume design, which accurately represents the past, adds a plus point to the movie as well.

This movie is perfect for your weekend, with a mix of suspense and emotion. Enjoy watching!

Story of a Hero

This is a story about real life heroes. Too often in films, the main characters go on revenge mission or do violent, morally unacceptable things, but the main character in this film, pilot Tae-in, is an example of a real hero who is guided by moral virtues. We could almost say that he is a saint. Speaking from my Christian perspective, I would say that the attitudes and actions of the main character are an authentic example of Christian behavior in dramatic situations.

The film begins with a very interesting plot, in the middle, the story becomes a bit tiring because the events on the plane do not really change anything in the plot, but the finale of the film is excellently done, full of adrenaline and drama. Watching the planes fly was for me more exciting than the interaction of the passengers in the hijacked plane. I also liked one scene on the plane when the frame freezes and we have the opportunity to see a panorama of all the passengers in a dramatic moment. However, that scene stands out from the rest of the film, which dramatizes historical events and ultimately gives us a positive inspiration.

A masterpiece ♥ .............................................................

Keeps your eyes glued to the screen and heartbreaking

I was crying by the end of the movie ?(and not many movies make me cry). The story and the acting were good, but I wished the passengers were given more attention or were a bit more involved. However, I understand that the story wanted to highlight mostly the heroic actions of the co-pilot so that’s fair enough! Anyways I reccomend watching it.

lol apparently my review is too short to publish so I’m adding random text………………………………………..

EVERYTHING IS JUST OKAY AND ENOUGH FOR THE MOVIE TO BE COMPLETED

First of all I was actually shocked that this movie is based on a true story, As I think of it , since we fans of Korea and Korean culture, we are or most of us is aware of the division of Korea country North and South and as I think about this movie, since the 2 countries are in conflict, maybe this movie is created to tell ill about the North Korea ? and to show that North Korea is Cruel and South is not ? these are my thoughts .. because there was a scene here where the Yeo Jin Goo's story was shown and how his mother died, we can see there that there is a reason why he was like that .. too bad that he included everyone at the airplane about his issues in life.
The movie was okay , I started to think what would I do in such a situation, where there was really no equality that time, about the gender and the status in life and there was not a lot of discoveries and improved technologies yet that we are having right now and then those kind of things happened .. If I was a passenger there and have survived too, I promise that I would never ever get into an airplane anymore .. why ? because that is a traumatic event !
The movie was not that good but it was not also bad, it was sad .. sad that the pilot died , I actually thought that he will survive with one hands but since he has lost too much blood there was no way he was able to survive in that state ..
Every actors was great here , I can always assure and vouch how good the acting of Korean actors were .. specially Yeo JIn Goo, in my entire Kdrama K movie and Kpop fanning , Yeo JIn goo's acting is one of the best acting I ever saw ! so this is guaranteed .. I just don't know what it is that the movie is lacking ( this is only my opinion ) I felt something is lacking I just don't know what it is, or maybe I did expected too much , or maybe because it was short ? but the movie is all in all a good enough movie its like what you see is what you get , let's just say it that way.
I probably never gonna re watch this movie again .
