Chemistry is Hot, but the Rest NOT!!!

The only thing this show had going for it is the chemistry. Our main leads had some of the most amazing chemistry I have ever seen and I know part of that is the Director. However, the story was extremely lacking. What started out as a promising intriguing story turned into this bland commercial ridden show with loads of sex scenes. The last episode was completely useless, it was one long commercial. I’m going to take a look and see if our leads have acted in anything else. Most of the secondary cast was useless and didn’t really serve a point. I did like the music though, it fit very well with most of the scenes.

Less BTS and More Story

The production wasted a capable cast with poor editing, storytelling and plot holes. All of the couples, including the MxF couples were engaging but the editing was horrible. I hate the new guy is a twin to the dead boyfriend, especially when this does not get resolved. In one scene the new guy Nail proclaims he s not a replacement for Blue, Him goes home all dejected, then. Him and Nail walk into Him's house holding hands. They didn't even show the reconciliation! So is Nail a replacement for Blue and he has accepted it, or did Him assure him that he sees him as Nail, a totally different person? Yet they had behind the scenes footage. Anyway, I do not recommend and it's a shame because the cast was very good.

Desperately needed some polishing up

This series was hard to watch because there were times it was engaging and interesting, showing promise of a decent series. And then the next moment, there's something happens that is so incredibly random that make me think I missed something or that they were trying to make it suddenly exciting all too quickly without context or preamble. Many things were done without reason or, really, we don't get a reason right away or even in the near future.. more like an afterthought like "Oh, that's why this person acted this way" kind of thing. And these questionable actions are done by people we are later supposed to root for to be happy? I don't really buy it.

But I'm getting ahead of myself.

Let's first talk about the couple of Him and Nail. It started off interesting and looks like a random hookup from a night of clubbing after a broken heart. Then we get a glimpse of Him having an ulterior reason for chasing Nail other than initial interest and lust. Nail was a great character in my opinion... shy at times but super flirty and hella sexy when he turn on the sass. That in itself would have been a good enough storyline for these two as they worked things out. Him would find himself falling in love again and realize it had nothing to do with the fact Nail resembled Blue and Him was not trying to replace his dead lover with a replica model. Nail would move on from his broken heart and find a new love in an unexpected place.

And then they added all the rest of the characters and intertwining storylines and shtuff hit the fan.

The side couple was okay enough but again suffered from being in the middle of everything else going on around them and interlaced storylines. Pie was a former lover of Him's cousin, who he simultaneously had beef with though we really never know why.

Actually, it seemed like everyone had it out for Him, who was also grieving the loss of his lover. Te wanted to destroy his life just because Him and Blue had relationship issues? Their dry spell was the least of what Blue was going through but Te acted as if Him was the sole reason behind it. Seems to me like Blue had no actual friends or family he could talk to and didn't try to seek help. So Te's solution is to hurt both Nail and Him. And then we're supposed to believe he feels bad about it and moved on to this random Peach guy who shows up out of nowhere? (If you're dizzy reading this, trust me, watching it unfold will not be any easier.)

The best friends at the school probably made the most sense throughout the whole thing. And, I know a lot of people say the "mean girls group" was so unnecessary and ridiculous - which is kinda true - but I will say this... I really like that they weren't actually "mean girls." I like that the show depicted that the popular pretty girl clique could still be supportive and root for their friends. They were ready to fight the pretty boys because Nail was hurting and I can't help but give major props and respect for that. Sure, they were kinda OTT and unnecessary but they weren't the typical villain type a lot of these roles are. Even the one friend ended up with one of them which is usually unheard of unless it's something like Hana Yori Dango.

So would I recommend this series? I mean... I never say "don't watch this" but this one really was rough. Instead of suggesting to steer clear, I'll just say keep what I've said above in mind and be prepared for not everything to make sense. There's some decent NC scenes, if that helps. And Nail being a subtle sassy queen is amazing.

One word: Eschew

This story is profoundly complex, made elementary. Yet, it should not. It presents itself in a superficial manner with a lot of voyeuristic sex scenes to help us with our escapism from its true reality. And its true reality is that it is a very sad story filled with toxic people doing awful things to innocent people. I found the story to be a rather ugly tale peppered with unnecessary eroticism. This series has a lot of diversion in it. Many hot, steamy love scenes, that felt very voyeuristic to me and sometimes laughable. Sure, these guys are sensual, cute, and sexy. To see them romping around in bed making love with their pants on is just plain ludicrous and silly. It was just not the main couple either. How about under the covers with simulation so we can use our imagination? Sometimes imagination is better. To show us making love in bed (or having sex) with pants on seemed extraordinarily contrived and silly. And completely and totally unrealistic. And I might add, insulting to gay people everywhere.

For Him, not For Me

12 episodes of For Him could've been easily condensed down to 8. Sometimes an episode was 45 mins, and sometimes it was barely 30 with 20 mins of BTS footage thrown in. The story is all over the place and loses itself many times. Lots of inconsistencies with the plot and even just the filming of it. The hair colors are all over the place, at different grow out periods for both of the main actors. Sometimes Nail was fully orange, sometimes not, sometimes it changed multiple times in an episode. Same thing for Him and his gray hair. This continued throughout and even in the last episode with Nail's painted nails, there was no consistency. And this overwhelming misstep really takes a few stars off for me.

Also, NC scenes are great and wonderful, but I felt like the NC scenes somehow were more of a priority than the overall plot of this show. And let me be clear, the NC scenes were mostly all enjoyable, but they are definitely not a replacement for actual story and depth. That missing element was definitely felt multiple times.

Overall Positives:
- Thor was a redeeming factor for me. His acting felt real and he fully allowed himself to be absorbed in Nail's world (and also Blue's).
- Side pairing Chao / Pie was also cute. I really loved their dynamics.

Overall Negatives:
- Dew's acting bothered me a lot, because it felt like acting (if that makes sense)
- Pacing and inconsistencies of the episodes and storylines.
- Didn't enjoy the BTS scenes added into episodes, that was super annoying.
- Also didn't like the intro, was wayyyy too long and seemed cheaply made.

I think the actors definitely deserved a better script. They did the best with what they were given. Hope to see them in something more substantial and solid in the future.

Mediocre actor with bad production

I wouldn’t say I am disappointed with this series but its not exactly a good or bad series either. I mean I was looking forward to watch this series because of Dew, but I think the problem here is the editing, the plot and the directing. Sometimes the transition between Scene A to Scene B is not that smooth which makes me ponder who let these people edit this series ?. The sex scenes are delicious since they been too generous sometimes the sex scenes are too long for me. Like you include their kiss scenes for 3 minutes straight for what?

The plot is meh. I mean the story has potential but the way they develop it is not that well. I wish they could include the part where Nail fighting more with Him on whether Him truly feels him as replacement of Blue. Also, there is no elaboration in this series and I am so pissed the fact that one episode only have like 30 minutes airtime only and the remaining 15 minutes are for BTS. Like un hello?

The series could either have 12 episodes with much plot development or 8 episodes with the same plot. Cause to be honest, i dont think 12 episodes are necessary and I am quite shooketh that this series is under GMM-25. Usually GMMTV took it serious about the plot but what is this miss gurl?

Though I like how at the actors portray their characters, the real winning point here is really those 4 straight girls hhahah. I like that the girls instead of trans to portray comedic role since its rare to see trans have proper role, i think its time to variety those role.

Nutshell, mediocre actor, poor plot development and poor editing

Even the subtitle team seams to have given up

Fortunately my Thai is finally good enough to watch the final episode without subtitles, which is how it was released to iQYI. Maybe the subtitle team was a bored with the series as I was. With frequent use of the fast forward button I was able to slog through this series, but barely.
The story is thin. There are no significant character arcs apart from "things happen and are dealt with". The acting is mostly manneristic and stiff. The music is unmemorable. I honestly don't remember any of it.
There main story point, new crush resembles former boyfriend who killed himself, is good for maybe six episodes, and in this case it wasn't developed very convincingly so it supports five or six very dull episodes. The story needed a lot more bones to support a full 12 episode series.

It could have been better

The show started out strong but then got slower and slower as each eisode went on to the point I found myself wanting to not finish this, which is sad because I felt like that show had potential. The final episode was honestly a mission to watch through and took me a number of days to find the motivation to finish.
Outside of revealing plot points or drama to move the plot forward, there were so many scenes that were lackluster. Scenes among the friends had no proper conversation or banter, and didn't build character depth, and some scenes felt especially long and drawn out for no reason.
The show relied on a lot of flashbacks to build backstory for Him and Blue, but many of them felt pointless, and at times even confusing, and weirdly in or out of sequence. Plus on completing the show I really feel like Blue was introduced to create shallow drama and really didn't give much to the story at all.
The motivations for the antagonists seemed one dimensional and not well fleshed out due possibly to lack of character depth. I want to note that I mean ALL motivations for the antagonists, this includes Te's switching of love interests as well. And there were far too many issues that were resolved too quickly and easily after making so much drama throughout the series.
I could not relate nor enjoy the romance between the secondary BL couple as I found the relationship cringy and annoying, and I didn't understand why or how the two could be attracted to or interested in eachother.
For the third BL couple I feel like Te's love interest came in too late, and should have been a bonus episode rather than included in the show.
I also don't understand why we actually didn't see more of the other romances throughout the entirety of the show, perhaps this was due to editing but I think these could have been used to break up some of the long slow scenes.
Some things were just over-the-top like Type's big face off with Chao, and some of the later NC scenes - hint: they really put their foot in it.
Finally, I also understand for some people it can be difficult to keep the exact same tone of blonde for several weeks/months, but the fact that I could tell order the scenes were filmed in based on regrowth really ruined my viewer experience.
All that being said, I really enjoyed the earlier NC scenes and the flirting between the main couple during the first couple of episodes, and those scenes at least are worth a watch in my opinion. I really love to see a strong and sassy uke in a BL.
The Charlie's Angels scene, I thought was fun, and I would also like to quickly mention that I appreciated the girl group supported Nail, rather than being the antagonists like in many other shows.
The biggest thing that kept me watching was Ryan (Dream) in this, his smile makes me smile every time.
Overall this particular show won't be one I'll rewatch or recommend unless someone wants to watch the first few episodes for the NC scenes.

Okay... well

I'm kind of disappointed, I wanted to like this show but it just fell flat to me > I was also upset we didn't get a plot twist or something about Blue, I feel like It would've made things interesting > Also upset we didn't get to see their camping trip, I feel like that would've been cute to see instead of Him and Nail doing it for the 5th time

The whole last episode was just Him and Nail doing It for 40 minutes because I feel like they didn't have anything else to do. > I wanted to see more of a Chao spicy scene but all we got was Phai giving him head with Chao's pants on

The collagen had more screen time than poor baby Chao > The fact that Nail just got that tattoo done and He put his foot right by it..no thank you

Maybe im too picky but I wanted more out of this show, I feel like they could've had a really good, drama-filled, plot twist kind of show > I was secretly hoping Nail was either Blue himself or his twin back to seek revenge on Him or something > They gave us the setup, in the beginning, to get our minds thinking of different theories that could be possible but in the end, there was just nothing.

This isn't your, or my, typical review

I forced myself to finish this, and I watched at 1.75X speed. I can't stand the way they make Thai actors draw out some of their lines. It would be like me saying “welllllllllllllll……….what if…………iiiiiiii…………..come……over?” Now imagine me speaking like that 50% of the time. Anyhoo, since everyone else has spectacularly summed up the (few) hits and (many) misses, I’m going to take a different approach and tell you the story I wish I’d seen. Come with me, dear readers, as we reimagine the main couple’s story.

We’ll keep the same backstories for everyone. Him was dating Blue who had a phobic fam and a bestie who was secretly in love with Blue (I can’t say “him” because that would be confusing as there’s a character named Him). Blue is lonely and sad about his family and relationship, but Him has familial/work obligations. He has to handle his literal business and tend to his mother, so he’s not around much. Blue communicates his needs to Him, but Him is so stressed that he doesn’t do a great job explaining his lack of time/attention for Blue. Blue’s fam wants them to breakup and for Blue to stop dating guys. Blue decides to end his pain by taking his life…or coming close? We don’t know.

Fast forward. Him approaches Nail because he looks like his ex and begins a relationship with Nail. Te meets Nail in the same way as originally scripted (at Him’s house) but doesn’t flip out. The next day Te seeks out Nail on his own and asks him for coffee, not a date. Nail is suspicious, plus this is his boyfriend’s friend who’s asking Nail out? da fuq? Of course Nail refuses but then Te explains that Nail looks like his dead best friend and secret crush, and Te would like to just talk to Nail over a coffee or something so he can feel, just for a little while, like his friend is still with him. Te shows Nail a pic of the two besties and this both softens and intrigues Nail. After all Te is a friend of Nail’s boyfriend and you gotta get in good with the friend group, plus, everyone has a lookalike and Nail is curious about his. Te and Nail will become friends and Te realizes how different Nail and Blue are, which makes Te really appreciate Nail for who he is.

Now, while all this was happening, Him and Nail have their thing going on and Him is also realizing that Nail is different from Blue and appreciating the difference. Nail sees a pic of Him with Blue and finds out that he looks exactly like Him’s ex, and Nail is livid thinking that Him saw Nail as a replacement for Blue. First, Nail will give Him a chance to explain and Him will lie and say he didn’t approach Nail due to the resemblance. Nail isn’t buying that so he storms out. Next Nail will talk to his own awesome friends because sometimes we need someone to tell us when we’re wrong or help us see things in a another light, but they agree with Nail that this is fishy. Finally, Nail will reach out to Te. Nail would also be upset that Te didn’t tell him, and Te comes clean and bares his little soul. Te explains that his beloved friend was so unhappy with Him, unlike Nail who seemed to be falling in love with Him. Te will say he wanted to believe that Him had learned his lesson and would make Nail happy and Te didn’t want to ruin that. Te will say that he couldn’t help Blue but he thought that his silence was helping Nail, so he kept the secret. Te knows they are two different ppl, but somehow doing what he believed would help Nail made Te feel like he had another chance to help the friend he failed. Te is crying now, he’s never told all this to anyone and knows it makes no sense because Blue is gone and can’t be helped. Nail will accept this, and he holds Te (not in a romantic way).

That private, intimate moment is witnessed by Type who snaps a pic and sends it to his cousin, Him. Nail is now only speaking to Te, not to Him. Here is where the additional tension between Him and Te will make more sense. They already have what happened with Blue (Te wishing Him had taken better care of his friend, and being mad that Blue was dating anyone else anyway), but now the tables will have turned because Nail is no longer upset with Te but is still mad at Him. Him doesn’t understand since they both approached Nail for the same reason, but Nail will explain that Te was upfront about it (remember when Te told Nail that he looked exactly like his best friend and secret crush?). Him will be upset with himself as he realizes that all he had to do was be honest and Nail would still have given him a chance, because that’s the kind of person Nail is. Alas, the three points of the love triangle wind up alone but OK. Te realizes that he can’t try to date Nail because he knows deep down that he would just want to be the chosen one and prove (maybe to himself as much as to Him) that he would’ve been better for Blue than Him had been. Te decides on his own that he and Nail will be friends. Him keeps his therapy appointments and later (like, way later) reunites with Nail but we won’t know if they’ll try again or not.

Maybe the second season would show their efforts to rekindle, and Te finding his own happiness. And then we’ll learn that Nail really is Blue. Bwahahahahaha!

So Much Potential

The story has potential but they needed something more cohesive. It got to the point that I did not care about Blue and the past. Te made no sense other than that man needs therapy not just Him. Nail also needs therapy. I get someone having a type but imagine the psychological damage of being compared BY EVERYONE to someone's ex-lover. On top of dealing with someone an obsessive stalker because you happen to have the same face. Again potential but not executed well. But I will say that the actors did their job with what they got.

started of really strong

The first 2/3 of the series is well produced and edited, then something happened. It’s also like they kind of gave up on the story line? I’m not sure. The plot isn’t jumpy and difficult to follow, and the series is an easy watch. Someone compared it to an old soap opera and I like that analogy.

Acting wise its a little stiff at times, not as natural as I personally would have liked. Its not bad, just sometimes feel like they are delivering lines they are uncomfortable with or doesn’t come natural to them to say.

It’s def NC heavy, some scenes better done than others. And some edited a lot better in the post-production than others. My take away is that the production company started to do a bad job somewhere in the process of making this series and that is hurting the overall feel of quality more than the delivery of the actors.

Will I rewatch? Maybe, maybe not. Probably only the first half, if I do.
