A perfect blend of drama, betrayal, love, and revenge!
“Blossom” is one of those dramas that pulls you into a rabbit hole where every turn brings a new twist, and it was a great ride from start to finish. What I loved:
1. Complex characters: Let’s talk about Song Mo and Dou Zhao. Song Mo is such a layered character, battling with betrayal, family drama, and a thirst for justice. He had such a quiet strength and vulnerability at the same time. Dou Zhao was intelligent, fierce, and unapologetically herself. I loved how she used her wit to navigate a patriarchal society and stand up to her family’s relentless scheming. The combination of these two was absolute fire.
2. The romance: Song Mo and Dou Zhao’s chemistry was everything, sometimes tender and sometimes intense. That kiss before Song Mo left for the battlefield was swoon-worthy. 🤭
3. Intriguing plot: It dives deep into themes of loyalty, familial obligations, and revenge. The “time-travel” twist was a clever touch.
4. Villains you love to hate: Watching Song Yi Chun’s and Ying Xue’s schemes blow up in their faces was so satisfying.
5. Visuals and storytelling: The sets, costumes, and atmosphere were stunning and brought the historical world alive.
What I didn't love:
1. Wei Ting Yu: I’m torn here. While his love for Dou Ming was genuine, his indecision and cowardice were exhausting. I hated him yet still felt pity for him after Dou Ming died.
2. Repetitive Interruptions: Why was everyone always barging into Song Mo and Dou Zhao’s moments? 😤
The balance between romance, action, and drama was well handled.
Would I recommend it? Absolutely.

BEST CDRAMA EVER!!
The ending lands, as most cdramas cannot! The cinematography is beautiful and so well done. The ml and fl equally carried if not excel my expectations. I like this so much more than love like the galaxy! As it gives that angsty vibe but this is so wholesome in how their romance grew deeper instead of being so tragic like more dramas become. I love how the fl is strong and powerful till the end!! Not just in the beginning. The chemistry of the leads really made a difference and felt it throughout the show. The plot is intriguing and engaging. Love this :)Was this review helpful to you?

“Blossom” is the BEST DRAMA OF 2024 ?
How do I even begin to tell you how good “Blossom” is? From the writing, cinematography, acting, storytelling, visuals, dialogue and chemistry between the leads. Absolute perfection. From the very first episode, you knew this show was going to be special. By the time we get to the finale, all the issues were resolved and the story came full circle even for side characters.
All the characters had very clear development as well as stayed true to their essence. That’s really hard to do when there’s so much happening and you can’t give each character screen time for the audience to build familiarity with. The ambiguous characters flowed between good and bad, the villains were villains for a reason and the good guys were all for the greater good.
The main characters, Song Mo and Dou Zhao, were dragged into a royal mess and just chess pieces to the royal family. I’m so glad they had each other to navigate and come out of the ordeal unscathed and get their happy ending.
Li Yunrui as Song Mo was the standout performer in this series! He embodied the character and the morality of the character exquisitely. I know his popularity blew up once the show premiered so I’m excited to see him more in lead roles. SM is a top male lead character in this genre moving forward. He is truly a green flag — caring and loving DZ, but never dominating or exerting power over her. He’s so gently when it comes to her whereas he’s fierce as a general.
Meng Ziyi was absolutely fantastic as Dou Zhao and the writing was one of the best written female roles I’ve seen on CDrama. The character itself never strayed from her values and beliefs. DZ was progressive, but also understood traditions. She was strong, but showed vulnerability. She loved deeply and never doubted it. This woman was determined to never let SM stray from his goodness. ✨
SM and DZ were perfect together and I don’t know if another couple can top them for me in CDrama. They demonstrated a relationship that was healthy and equal. They didn’t hide things from each other nor did they assumed what the other person needed — they actually communicated, shared opinions and strategized together. They made promises to each other and kept to them. They didn’t let their own egos overshadow their relationship nor did they let other characters make them doubt each other. All of this is so rare in CDramaland!
I hope Meng Ziyi and Li Yunrui team up again because their chemistry felt so natural and real. You can’t help but root for them.
Some of my favorite scenes were the wedding in ep19 and the reveal of SM’s mother’s death in ep31. Those scenes were so visually beauty and great storytelling. The wedding was particularly wonderful because it felt so grounded by showing the audience details and traditions that you feel as though you’re witnessing a real wedding.
For the last few episodes, I think people are going to want a big battle at the end. However, this show has never been about big action scenes, but rather the characters and their cleverness and strategies. I think how the fighting happened and concluded made the most sense to the story. The show is solid and consistent in its writing.
“Blossom” is a must watch drama and SM and DZ are characters that will be forever iconic in CDramaland.

Storytelling method is lacking, but awesome chemistry
Many times, especially in the earlier episodes, I felt disconnected from the plot because certain scenes seem too predictable/cliché. This also happens when there is an excessive use of modern ideology in the story which is understandable because it is catering to a modern, young audience, but doesn't suit the setting. Perhaps its due to the filming technique, I also felt there were too many anti-climatic scenes. There also isn't any memorable OST, I don't even recall much music from watching. But, these technicalities aside, you can't help but awe at the chemistry the main leads have and the outstanding, overall performance from the entire cast. Was this review helpful to you?
Good timing
Was this review helpful to you?
Absolute Perfection!
The love story and yearn between the two main character gripped me from episode 1. I was invested to see how they would overcome what was thought to be inevitable and they did not disappoint. The leads did an amazing job conveying their undying love for each other which made this so much more beautiful. Definitely a top 5 for my favorite 2024 historical drama.

九重紫: A hidden gem
was by far the best Chinese drama that I watched in 2024.This drama captured my attention from the first scene, and I thoroughly enjoyed the well-paced storytelling, free from unnecessary filler that often drags out. It was satisfying to see how Dou Zhao (the female lead) seized her second chance at life, with the unwavering support of Song Mo (the male lead). The drama beautifully portrayed their romantic journey ad the way they worked together to overcome various challenges.
Having previously watched Meng Zi Yi (as Dou Zhao) and Li Yun Rui (as Song Mo) in other notable works, I found this drama to be a standout in redefining my perception of their talents. Their performance in were exceptional, showcasing their depth and range as actors. Both brought their characters to life with such authenticity that I'm eager to see their future projects.
The original soundtrack (OST) also added a memorable layer to the drama. My favorite track, 不羡 by 伯远, perfectly complemented the emotional scenes between the ML and FL, enhancing the overall viewing experience.
Overall, this drama was fantastic, and I wouldn't hesitate to rewatch it if time permits.

For those who can’t with the Ctrauma
Blossom is a masterpiece that sets a new standard for Chinese historical dramas. From its breathtaking visuals to its emotionally resonant storytelling, every element of this series is crafted with care and precision. The acting is nothing short of phenomenal. The leads deliver performances that are both powerful and nuanced, with chemistry so electric it leaves you longing for more collaborations between them. Their dynamic brings an intensity and authenticity to every scene, making the love story at the heart of Blossom unforgettable.
The storyline is equally compelling, weaving together themes of love, betrayal, and resilience against the backdrop of a richly detailed historical setting. The narrative strikes the perfect balance between grand, sweeping drama and intimate, character-driven moments.
The production design and costumes are stunning, immersing viewers in a world that feels both authentic and visually enchanting. Every detail, from the intricate set pieces to the delicate embroidery on the costumes, reflects the care and effort poured into the series.
Adding to the magic is the soundtrack, which elevates every scene. The music is hauntingly beautiful, perfectly capturing the emotional highs and lows of the story.
This is a drama I will definitely rewatch and wholeheartedly recommend. Blossom is a testament to the power of exceptional storytelling, and the leads’ undeniable chemistry leaves us hoping to see them reunited on screen soon.

Beautiful
Wow. It begins with a bang all while being beautifully shot. This drama offers beautiful cinematography, beautiful cast, beautiful ost, and beautiful storytelling. The first episode hooked me from the start and left me wanting more. I am 8 episodes in and the story is unfolding in such a lovely way i can already tell this is going to be an epic. Its full of action, angst, and has a male lead and female lead with a great driving force behind their actions. Their acting is captivating, I often find myself rewinding so that i can take in the whole scene and every facial expression. The manner in which the ML and Fl stare into each other eyes is probably my favorite thing about this drama definitely swoon worthy. I cant wait to see how this masterpiece ends. Was this review helpful to you?
Delightful and Intense
Okay... First of all, we must know the background of Chinese Drama lately, there are some lack of amazing drama in the 2024, and 2024 are coming to an end. We, as a Chinese drama lovers, are kinda lost in the middle of war of two big actors and their dramas last November (you must know what I mean). Although I must admit that a sad ending that disappointing from ZLS, and an oblivious "bubbly" drama character from YSX, both can be characterized as two good dramas. I like the concept from both drama, the execution are amazing, overall, those dramas are satisfyingly enough. But 2024 is not a good year for Chinese Drama Lovers (a dry year I must say). I can only count few dramas that really amazing, and this drama (Blossom) really give me a new breath in this drought. Okay, that was the background. What can I say about this drama? Welllllll...........
I like the way they present their story, the story telling is so engaging. I know that the concept is rather old, a going-back second chance, many dramas attempt to grapple in it. I can count a few dramas of the same theme that I really like, and Blossom is one of them. This is so unexpected, the drama that people not expect to be so good, indeed started so impressive.
I also like the camera angle and cinematography, they really support the story-line. Beautiful and a little bit dramatic i must say.
Must I also add, they choose the right actors this time, the beauty and acting aren't disappointing. Pleasuring for the eyes and also connecting to their character.
Well... of course I can't say that the ending will be a satisfactory, but at least they start with a good blow. From this drama I must say, that even without big shot actors for the main role, a drama can still have a good quality and is addictive. I quite love the story so far, maybe not relatable as human being coz I never experience a second chance in my real life haha, but at least they use logic to drive each character into doing their job in fulfilling the main story resulting a good beginning in a wholesome story. And my guess is that it will end not in a very happy manner too, but don't be afraid, not every good story in a drama will have a happy ending too. What people say "sad ending" can also be satisfying, depends on how you want to look as real as it can get.
Have fun waiting for 5 pm everyday!
UPDATE!!
I never been happier to be proven wrong, it's a happy ending and possibility of 2nd season with different title.. hahaha.. I love the character of ML's father (Dou Shiying), at lastttttt he stand up for his daughter and stand his ground till the end. I guess people do do that, better be late than never..
I really like the main CP's chemistry, they are so cuteeeee and the funny scene doesn't seems awkward, both Li Yun Rui and Meng Zi Yi are good with a little joke in their acting scenes. Just in need a bit passion in their kissing scene, I feel like it's not HOT enough for two people who knows they're gonna miss each other in the future.
Overall, I do not lower my rating... The story telling consistent from the beginning till the end, it's so engaging and exciting from one episode to the next one. I can see that they have low budget in filming this drama from their costumes in here and there, but amazingly it still looks so gorgeous. Worth all my time and focus in watching the drama, I even plan to re-watch it in near future.
Definitely a dark horse of 2024 Chinese drama!

Must watch drama
You are really missing something if you ain't watching this drama. I usually watch short dramas as I really don't have time to watch 40-50 eps, (there are some very very long dramas out there) and I also loose interest after 3-4 episodes, as it was hell of a difficult task to remember each character name and face in long dramas.I thought to watch 2 eps of Blossom to give it a try over a sunday afternoon meal and I end up binge watching it.
I loved it, the FL is independent, intelligent, fierce, witty and at the same time intellectual. She can manage household so as she could do business, I haven't seen such a powerful female in long dramas. It's a change for good.
The ML is also powerful, and when two strong-willed characters meet each other, it was really fascinating to see how they handle situations. Their bond becomes strong, even though they have their own doubts in the beginning.
About the rest, you should watch and find out.
You would laugh, you would cry, feel sad, but feel satisfied.
The writer did a amazing job and I hope we could see more of these kind dramas.
