Alluring premiere, well executed plot, a badass female lead plus, an happy ending
I've watched many historical cdramas, but lady revenger returns from the fire is quite different. And why? Because most of the historical dramas I've completed picked up from episode 2 or more. But this drama captivated me right from the first episode. And that's not all, each episodes keeps getting better.I've only watched the first four episodes, and upon watching those episodes, there's only one thing I could say, which is 'this drama is interesting'.
Luo Ai lian 'the daughter of the luo family' changed her identity to shen dan qing 'the daughter of the shen family' with the help of shen zi shan in order to exact her revenge against those who tried to murder her. The plot itself is captivating!
I like to see a strong, decisive, and badass female lead, and this drama has all those.
Shen dan qing is indeed the lady revenger who returned from the fire. I love the way she isn't showing her stepmother, uncle, and evil sister 'luo shuang shuang' any mercy.
She's executing her plans of revenge quite well. Indeed, 'this is a well executed revenge drama'.
Next, I'd like to see whether xu cheng feng is going to help or hinder shen dan qing in her journey of revenge.
Just completed episode 9. This drama is indeed getting more interesting. Here I thought luo xue er was innocent, little did I know she's the devil incarnate. But it's a good thing that shen dan qing now knows that she has no allies in the luo family.

The ending was satisfying!! When I was watching episode 23, I thought it's going to be a sad ending. But it turned out unexpectedly great. Each character had their own difficulties and struggles.
Lady revenger returns from the fire is indeed a wonderful and must watch drama!

Don't watch it unless you really have nothing to watch.
I started this because there is literally no costume Chinese drama at this time that is not 5 minutes. This is the longest one. so I figured why not.all acting is pretty good. minus the main female lead. she has one facial expression, she looks like she is either going to start crying or pooping herself like a newborn baby. Same facial expression throughout the entire show. Reminds of zoolander.
she is very inconstant as far as her personality. she is stupid and naive, then smart and brave, then random changes personality based on how the episode goes.
the whole story is just straight out stupid.
the voices they picked for both FL and ML are also terrible. maybe i just hate the FL voice and while irritated, hate his too.

Who is the best in plotting ?
Why all the negative comments I quite like this drama!I know is kinda cliche with the face swap revenge story but this one was better than modern day drama perfect her. 24 episode was perfect, any more and it would been draggy.
First of all smart and witty female lead ( even despite many times of getting betrayed and step up by her evil family members she remains on top and not affected )
Male lead is also really smart, pays attention to detail , brave and caring
SML - a really caring and kind brother
I really cant stand the evil people but they portrayed it pretty well. The daughter that no ones looks up on is the most craziest and twisted. They each got what they deserved.
Also the annoying prince trying to find the hidden treasure. He is horrible and truly cold blooded.
The leads relationship is cute , but the kisses still lack a lil something something.

Face change revenge drama. Insta Bro is great!
I kind of lost count of how many FL wronged and gets a chance at revenge dramas in the past 2 years now. I wasn't expecting much especially with the poster of ML Wei Zhe Ming in really bad hair.Production isn't the greatest like these fake horseback riding scenes with hair not moving (at all) makes me laugh.
But if you disregard:
1. ML's bad hair days all day everyday
2. Typical female revenge drama storyline
3. Insta face change, Insta Kungfu
4. Mid way change dubbed voice of the evil sister
You can enjoy this.
This is better than other revenge dramas in that:
1. FL is smart & strong w/ her "insta" Kung Fu. Actress Xu Lu is doing a pretty good job.
2. Her insta Bro is a pretty darn good character.
3. Pacing is not bad. There are plenty of bad characters, but so far % of screen time is tolerable.

a wasted potential
Actually it started so goodIt was so intriguing... .
Because It picked up from the first episode.
So like many of you I thought that I have found a hidden gem, saying myself "What an interesting drama"
Like you I was saying to myself " oh indeed Shen dan qing (the FL) is the lady revenger who returned from the fire
But after some episodes I was just waiting and waiting for XCF (the ML) to figure out SDQ's (the FL) identity.
I mean that this drama failed in story telling.
It couldn't make the viewers care about other parts of the story.
like now that I've watched ep 19, I feel like I've lost my interest in other subplots...
and I just cannot care less about the rest of the story
Also, you know we had other characters like Luo Shuang Shuang and their evil mother
we haven't seen a lot of these characters lately
I feel that they were better villains compaired to Luo Xue Er and Prince Yi.
Also Shen Zi Shan's (SML) love for Shen dan Qing sounds cheesy.
Moreover, the fact is that I like Liu Xie Ning (the actresses playing Luo Ai Lian more than Xu Lu
its the first drama I've watched from both of these actresses, but I think that Liu Xie Ning did a great job
in the first episodes that after ending of her role, Xu Lu couldn't fill her shoes.
After all these, the good thing is that it's a 24 episode drama, so maybe I'm being hard on this drama
because although its not good, It's better than many of other 24 ep dramas I've watched before.
And finally ....
I hate to be a bummer... .
If you like it, just dont pay attention to my comment and enjoy.
But if you want my honest opinion, Your time is more precious, there are better dramas, better films and better books.

It could have been better
There are many things wrong with this drama, from the miraculous face swap (it is a lazy alternative to transmigration; they can invent something better) to her learning all sorts of abilities in a few months just because the plot says she can. I wish it were that easy to become a martial artist. It didn’t help that the first actress had more acting skills and was more able to express emotions. I really did feel bad for her until she became the other person, and then my care disappeared as the actress was too wooden. The male lead was okay despite the famous wig problem everyone noticed, or at least he was in the first half of the show. Later, they tried some kind of comedy with him, and it just felt cringeworthy. His acting didn’t keep up later on, but considering how the story developed, it wasn’t surprising. It is a kind of story we have already seen before but seemed interesting. Unfortunately, it didn’t live up to its premise. After maybe a third of the episodes, it started feeling weird, like a Frankenstein production of different ideas patched together. Everything was underwhelming, and it was difficult to finish. Don’t get me started on the weird love triangle with her brother, a completely unnecessary part. If she was only his sister’s lookalike, but she literally wore her face! So, to summarise, the beginning was quite interesting. They could have invented something else instead of the face swap. I believe if they had swapped the actresses, it would have been a bit better. For a 24-episode show, it could have been even shorter by taking away all the ridiculous and unnecessary things they filled in the second part. The ost was nice.Was this review helpful to you?

The Worst Show of 2024, So Far
A hyped revenge saga that was bound to be good? Right?I was so wrong when I wrote the First Impressions for this show. Starring Xu Lu, Wei Zhe Ming in lead roles, the drama was meant to fill the wide gap left behind after "White Cat Legend" & "In Blossom" finished airing. I was like "here's a good drama with a stellar casting, don't mind the mediocre settings". I really hoped that this show would be as good as the premise; unfortunately "Lady Revenger Returns from the Fire” became a stable foible of bad storytelling and wasted potential. While the show does try its best to draw intrigue with murder mysteries and encore suspense, it fails. The script is all over the place, the main protagonists though daring don't know what they are doing half of the time and the antagonists are plain stupid. Didn't make for an easy watch. So, why did I persevere to watch this horrible show? Read to find out why exactly!

Xue Er's fantasies
Like typical Chinese dramas, it was one of those dramas that started well and then ended badly. I would like to call out to CHINESE screenwriters from here. Please finish as you started. Pay attention to the consistency of the plots. Do not call black in the next scene what you thought was white in the first place. Have consistency.In this series, especially after the scenes where Xue Er was exaggerated, the series fell apart. So it's over. If you ask why, he is the head of everything. In other words, this girl is responsible for killing her father, burning her sister, starting a fire and many other things. At first, the series focused on the mother, and even the mother and her beloved daughter, Shuang. Suddenly, Xue Er also pushed her mother and sister aside, sending one to prison and placing the other under house arrest. But then, after her sister, who was Luo Lian, returned as Dan Qing, she suddenly lost the advantage she had gained. After that, the series completely fell apart. Instead of going to prison, this girl of ours turned into a slave girl who lost everything and was left in the middle. But she, she, she turned, she wants to come back, but our scriptwriter can't make it happen. In this way, he pulls Dan Qing's best friend to his side and makes him attack him. Suddenly, his former employee appears from somewhere. He saves her. He works under him. But he's already poor, supposedly. A fallen one. But he lives well. When he can't get anything from Dan Qing's friend, he goes to the Prince this time. She seduces him. He makes Dan Qing attack him. Someone like this, who has lost everything and has fallen into slavery, can achieve these things. On top of that, he puts Dan Qing, his brother, and the General in prison.
The country's number one general, the person responsible for the security of that province, does not ask where the body is in this case of Xue Er's death. Let an autopsy be done. Was he strangled or did they strangle him and throw him away? It doesn't say to check it out.
This General, who is at the top of everything in the slightest incident, is playing the game. He closes the incident with what is being said left and right, such as "Did you hear him drowned?" Later, he is shocked when he sees it in front of him. They made a plan. He is making such a plan himself. Dying, resurrecting etc. So no matter how I look at it, it's up to me. It's such a bad plot, the story is blown out of control. Come on, you will say, it's fantastic. Did you put it on these? They changed the girl's face, you believed her, but you don't believe them? Yes, I didn't believe that either. I said fantastic. They cannot perform face transplants in the 21st century. What has been done is similar to Frankenstein. But those of us today should learn how well they performed face transplants in ancient times. So it didn't happen. I do not like. It's a shame for the series. The actors were good. I only liked the actors. The directors and producers were especially unfair to Liu Xie Ning. If they are reading; This girl gave a better look than our leading girl. I wished he had continued. Please take care of this girl. I don't want to badmouth Xu Lu, but the sourness of her face makes me nervous. I'm not talking about a good actor. However, I must say that I liked the other actor very much.
I think it looks like there will be a second season. Not A Typical Romance
Before I start, I just have to say that the FL, when dressed in her red and black clothing, reminds me of an anime character. Now that this is off my mind…Cons:
Some of the characters were overacted to the extreme. The evil stepmother, the evil sister, the self-absorbed sister who wanted to slap everyone, the angry crazy crown prince. Everyone seemed to have a penchant for yelling to prove how angry they were with everyone they encountered. Although their characters were more sinister in nature, they were always angry even when their scheming minds should have led them to a level of calm before the storm.
There was a lot of information the viewer had to put together to make sense of scenes that should have been explained, but probably left on the censors cutting room floor.
The FL’s animosity toward the ML right out after he comes to her home also leaves me scratching my head a bit. If she’s trying to blend into the background why was her character so antagonistic to the law-man?
The 2nd ML gave away the plot to have him fall in love with the FL way too soon. I would say that is the fault partially of the script. There should have been some time for him to struggle with the way his feelings would impact the way people saw him, his ‘sister’ and the family business rather than walking around with puppy dog eyes around her. His role was kinda creepy.
The ML and FL needed to have more time together. One day they were enemies, next day in love. Probably more cut during the review process.
There was no resolution with the evil stepmother. She was a driving force that was put in prison and the poof - she was never mentioned again.
And, while the two evil sisters were living on the streets, there could have been more development of the self-absorbed sister. She’s there, then a brief glimpse of her gathering coins being tossed at her by another angry girl, and then hardly anything after that until the end. More could have been done with her character to contrast her learning about her egotistic behavior in comparison to the middle sister and her constant manipulations and angry outbursts.
Pros:
Once I got past the disjointed and bizarre first few episodes, the drama actually started coming to life. And even though some parts were a bit draggy, the pace was pretty consistent. There were a few holes, but overall it was a good story.
The acting - even the perpetually angry people - was done well.

Hate love triangle
Not so special.A girl who deceived by her family with a change identity she took revenge from them but not in cruel manner but taught them a lesson.
I hate love triangle when both the persons have genuine feeling for a girl and in addition to they did a lot for her.
I hope for second season based on ending.

Interesting storyline with interesting characters
This drama has some interesting aspects to it, I would definitely recommend this for anyone who enjoys watching vengeance-themed dramas, but if that's the case, you might as well stop watching after ep 13, when the revenge arc ends and the treasure map arc gets the spotlight.The FL possesses a strong yet stubborn character. Despite being blamed for her father's death, and narrowly escaping death a few times, she still chose to continue her life strong, doing anything she would to bring justice to those who had made her suffer. She spent her "second life" avenging her father (and herself), rather than playing the life of the 2ML's sister. She constantly ignored her "brother" as he tried to stop her from her revenge plan, but still chose to stay by his side whenever she could.
The ML is a rather interesting character. I have to say, it is quite unsettling for me to see a general (out of all people) persuing the FL, but it is what it is. He is also fairly stubborn, as he is willing to do anything so that the FL to fall in love with him, even though the 2ML disagrees with this choice. His mission to find the hidden treasure was a bit confusing to me at first, but it became more clear during the later episodes when it was revealed that Prince Yi was secretly on the search for the treasure for himself. In the end, after narrowly escaping certain death himself, he and the FL get together and get married, which ends with a note given to them (not quite sure what that was all about).
Overall, the drama was great, with two separate storylines in one. Some people have negative opinions because of that, but I have to say it is worth the watch, especially with the twist in the last two episodes.
