Utterly Beautiful.

Watched it yesterday. It's one of the greatest films in my recent memory.

Everything in this film is so relatable and is very real. I cried and I couldn't stop myself from tearing up from the first 30 minutes of the movies until the very end. The message is so strong and Bilkin, Grandma and the rest of the casts just did something we call 'Magical' in the world of the acting.

Cinematography is also on point. It looked real, but also artistic and very cinematic. This will resonate in every viewer hearts for so long and the tearing effect will stay hours after finished the film.

It's not often that the people in the whole theater cried and sobbed their hearts out like this. One of a very magical moment for the whole 2 hours.

A simple and beautiful story about love and grief

This movie will be in my memories for a very, very long time.

The whole storyline was nothing out of the ordinary, but that was precisely why it works. It was so, so relatable that it hurts to think about because it reminded me of my own experience in life with my grandparents.

I cried throughout the entire movie. The cinematography was gorgeous, and reminiscent of growing up in an Asian household.

I highly recommend this movie. But it's definitely not everyone's cup of tea. If you're a fan of the slice of life genre, then this movie is for you.

Nothing dramatic happens throughout the movie, it just tells a story about a grandmother who is dying, and how the family deals with the aftermath of the heartbreaking news.

Whether it is love or greed, in the end there is still grief

Family oriented genre will always close to audience, combine with death trope and that's it. You got the perfect formula to make a studio full of people cry by the end of the movie. Of course, you have to blend the formula in the right way and this movie sure know how to stir people emotion.

I read from someone who has chinese ancestry how certain scene at the end become their breaking point because it's hit close to their own tradition. I don't have that relation, however i lived with my grandparents until they passed away. So instead of certain scene, the whole part from the moment M decide to scheme his way to Amah's house just hit too close to home. About old people smell, weekly visit, the quite day after holiday, basically all those things you only learned if you live under the same roof with elderly.

I also think this movie show a human realistic side of being caregiver for elderly, especially as family member. Not in depth, but enough to show how it is like on general.

Of course the children dynamic also interesting, not only Amah's children but also Agong's (Mui and M grandpa) children from Mui's POV and Amah with her brother to their parents. Daughter in asian household should raise a toast lol. It's not always the "bad" side of being a daughter tho, i think M's mother show the complexity of mother-daughter relationship in a good way, beside she's a good child if we compare her to her siblings.

In conclusion, this movie success in gathering the formula and blend it perfectly to stir people emotion. Solid plot combine with good chemistry and good acting is already a feast. Cinematography and music just become cherry on top at this point. Really, it is that good.

Hits close to home in a good way.

Today's the last day of showing in our local cinemas. I tried so hard to stop myself from rewatching, yet in the end, I rewatched it today because this movie has been on my mind ever since my first watch last month.

I thought I wasn't gonna cry because I know the whole trajectory of the film, but boy was I wrong. It still hits close to home. The storyline is simple, but it's so damn relatable. Despite some nuances, I know that we Asians have some similarities in our family cultures. I'm not Thai nor Chinese, but I still related to M's family problems and complex relationship towards his family.

P'Billkin and P'Taew's acting is amazing. Honestly, all of them acted realistically. It just feels like you're watching a family live their lives.

The cinematography and color grading has a nostalgic feel to it. And the music scores too!!! One of my main reasons for rewatching this film is the score. Kudos to Jairaroeng Studio for making these magical scores. Huge thanks to P'Pat too for directing this film! His works are phenomenal.

This is the type of movie that you'll be thinking and remembering for a long, long time. I just wish that they put this on Netflix soon so that more people watch this masterpiece.

Please hug your grandmas for me. Love them while they're still alive.

Always treasure family over money

I watched in Malaysian cinema on 9 June 2024. This movie reminds me of my own grandma. When I was on summer break from uni in Australia, my dad asked me to return home. I visited my grandma 1 week before I returned to Australia then few days after, my grandma passed. I was grateful that I made the trip to visit her.

What I like:
1) How to make millions before grandma dies is beautifully written & directed film. Cinematography was well done. Well done, Pat Boonnitipat and his team!
2) It is set in Thailand but the core themes relatable to Malaysian audiences. Some cultural practices are same here.
3) Wonderful acting by Putthipong Assaratanakul & Usha Seamkhum - their dynamics translated well on screen. Supporting cast did well too.

What I dislike
1) I think the title is misleading because I thought M worked multiple or sketch jobs to gain that much of money

Favourite scene
When M bathed his grandma. I understand perspectives from both sides.

emotional torture

The movie was something that, at first glance, doesn’t seem to be very interesting or engaging. Everything progresses rather slowly. it’s not an action movie, and the story mainly focuses on two people. However, the plot, acting, and cinematography were so outstanding that watching it was captivating right from the start.

I watched the film primarily because of Billkin, and he met my expectations. The acting was incredible, from both Billkin and the rest of the cast. The film made me develop an attachment to both characters, even though at the beginning, I didn’t feel any empathy for either the grandmother or Billkin.

By the middle, I realized it was an emotional torture. From that point on, my tears kept flowing non-stop until the very end, and as someone very emotional, I’m still processing the film, even though I watched it yesterday.

The film kept forcing tears out of me, and every scene was more and more heartbreaking with each passing minute. At some point, I just felt so tortured that I wanted to turn it off. It was too much for me.

Despite this, "How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies" deserves a very high rating. The cinematography is wonderful, everything is beautiful, and the exceptional acting moves our emotions. The plot is sad, but also very true to life.

Cried Twice Because I Was M in Real Life

Altough I kinda think the storyline is kinda basic, but I have to say that the execution, production, deliver, it so well done. I personally dont really like complicated storyline so it makes this movie better.

I personally not crying because the story, I cry I because I realize this is what i have been throuh with my granma, Its beatiful and sometimes its sad. Watching this definetly just watching my life back and I realize the moment I had is precious and now I think it does, because not many ppl really have a bond with their elder. Even my own granma doesnt close with her own child except me her granson. She has 4 granchild but I'm the only one who close with her.

Scoring, Cinematography, Estabilish Footages They are telling a story.

I dont know what to say, this movie rent-free in my head forever.

SIMPLE YET HEART-TOUCHING

I watched this in the cinemas, and one thing I regret is that I didn't bring TISSUES!!!! In each corner of the cinema anyone you see is crying...

STORY:
The plot was simple but beautiful, I can't quite tell what I truly feel, but it's a masterpiece.

ACTING:
Everyone acted natural and great, as if it's true— it makes the film more real and heart touching.

REWATCH VALUE:
I WILL TOTALLY REWATCH THIS SOMEDAY. It's just something...

It just makes you realize things, and the more you understand the more you feel it and just exert emotions. LIKE LITERALLY I couldn't stop crying whenever I think about it deeper!!

P.S. When I got out of the cinema I covered my nose with my hands (I looked like Rudolf)

Extraordinary

I just watched 'Lahn Mah' today, and it's easily one of the best Thai films I've ever seen. There was a lot of fun(Actually, jokes are stunning, I heard many people laugh in the theater), sadness and touching in this film.

This movie provided the mood and reality of being in Thai-Chinese families like the scene that throw flowers to the ancestors' graveyard, words that are using or celebrating Chinese New Year. Moreover, the acting was impressive. The reasons why I said that are the emotional depth that Billkin, Grandma and other casts give to understand their own characters. The smooth energy of their interactions throughout the movie creates a genuine familial atmosphere, making it feel like a real family dynamic on screen.

In addition, the inheritance fight among M(the protagonist), M's mom and 2 M's uncle adds another layer of complexity to the narrative which turns out M got the most but before that there's a fight to get the grandma's house and it made a question to the audience that will M get something for taking care of grandma?. This subplot not only adds depth to the characters' motivations but also reflects larger themes of tradition, obligation, and the complexities of family relationships.

On the other hand, it's worth noting that while the film's acting is impressive, the pacing of the proceedings may feel a bit brisk, particularly in terms of character development. Viewers may find themselves wanting more insight into the characters' backstories, especially the childhood experiences that shaped their personalities, or more time to understand the dynamics of their relationships before pivotal events unfold.

To conclude, 'Lahn Mah' is a film that shows both tears and laughter, showcasing heartfelt moments and a deep sense of love and care, especially between M and their grandmother. However, the pacing issues, particularly in character development, leave some room for improvement."

Hit so close to home

i had my eyes on this film ever since its announcement since my girl Tu is in it and all the acclaim it was getting making me even more excited to watch
i was engrossed the whole 2 hours of runtime, never once did i feel bored. the story moved well along and was told with so much love.
i had recently lost both of my grandmothers that too within a month of each other. both of them had become so sick for quite a while that they had become the shells of the people they used to be. this movie reminded me a lot of who they were, the loving and comforting people they were, always welcoming and waiting for my return. i hope they are resting well and i was able to give them back at least a bit of the comfort they had given me

Deeply sad and tear-jerking movie! everything is awesome!!

LAHN MAH : How To Make Millions Before Grandma Dies was deeply sad and tear-jerking movie. with its powerful storytelling and emotional depth, this movie left me in a puddle of tears. i started cryin in the first 30 minutes, the pray paper part. then it became layers upon layers of unending sadness that kept making me cry.

mixed feelings, mainly because of the 40% relatable plot + Amah as a grandma figure who feels so real + the touching moment of finally seeing Billkin and Tu Tontawan loml, on the big screen of my country + proud because many witnessed the debut movie of my idols. Amah's acting, considering this is her debut film, is truly incredible. Billkin and his consistently powerful crying scenes. Tu with her first movie debut. not biased more, but this is really worth to watch and i feel i'm a proud fan because my idol's debut movie as MAIN LEAD was so awesome!?

if u feel u can't relate bcs your relationship with your grandma, hear me out, it doesn't have to be related because of the closeness of grandchild and grandma, it can also be related to thinking about "whether one day i will be like Amah's child?". then i love small conversations such as Amah asking "have you eaten yet?" "the lights are turned off?" those are really close with real life. small details like M's sandals which came off in a hurry, waering same clothes etc. we all know GDH never disappoints. and now Lahn Mah is getting 300,000+ viewers in 5 days of screening in Indonesia! it's more than amazing!!! i cried a lotttt????????

this movie will leave you sobbing uncontrollably!! ((my experience))

Grandma, I miss you.

Grandma, the most precious person in my life, I lost her 10 years ago. After I finished watching 'How to make millions before grandma dies' i cried my heart out remembering my grandmother. All the moments with her flashed right before my eyes, I felt very nostalgic and realised how much I missed her.

M and amah, the actors did an amazing job portraying the characters. M always loved his grandma, it just he grew apart from her in between, then realised again how much he loved his grandma when he started living with her.

This film was so realistic and emotional. The ending scene where M was knocking amah's coffin and Letting her know where they were going and that he brought a big burial plot for her just like she wanted, and finally getting emotional and feeling the pain of losing his grandma made my heart ache.

Amah only wanted to be Buried in a good big plot because she believed her children will be prosperous, till the end she cared about her children.

Also the pomegranate tree, she kept all the pomegranates until it was ready, did not let anyone have it because she promised M she'd keep it all for him when he was little. Each and every scene was very simple yet heavily emotional. Great job director Pat Boonnitipat. Perfectly depicted, how aging parent want nothing but company of their own child, and the ignorance and carelessness of child towards their aging parent.

I really liked the cinematography. Overall very emotional, beautiful and simple movie will leave you heartbroken.
