Hundreds of years ago, Qijin Island did not have a unified name, and its southern end was still connected to Kaohsiung. Later, in order to build the second port of Kaohsiung Harbor, the sandy area at the southern end of Qijin, known as Bengxi, was excavated, and residents were forced to move. As a result, Qijin was severed from its connection to Taiwan, like a wanderer leaving the embrace of their mother. Land may disappear, and history may be forgotten, but the people who have experienced those difficult years, their joys and sorrows, smiles and tears, will still transform into nutrients that nurture future generations, blooming into radiant flowers.
