A Tale of Yearning (2022)

Both are short Chinese historical GL films in which one or both of the ladies are opera singers. Both have a tragic tone.

In both of these short productions, a woman sees the talent and beauty of a young performer and invests in her success, the proceeding closeness develops into something more.

Both feature opera and homoerotic relationships. However, that is just my personal reading of Yanxi Palace. I would say there are homoerotic subtexts in the drama but it does depend on your own reading.

Both are short historical GL films with the same actress in which one of the leads is an entertainer of some sort.

In both of these short sapphic historicals, the female leads are instantly drawn to each other and whisked into a romance fueled by the others grace and approach to life. But being together requires a test of courage.
